Doesn't seem to be getting panned over on 6G - as said, V8 plus lots of immediate low-down torque? Excellent!!

I think you are misinterpreting what the press release is clumsily stating. The hybrid is claimed to have V8-like performance - not a V8 engine.
Ford is heavily committed to Ecoboost technology. As a result, word around Dearborn is (and has been for a while now), that next gen Mustang GT will be Ecoboost V6, rather than Coyote 8cyl.

seems natural that V8s will be phased out amongst the Ford range stateside fairly soon. If you take the entire lineup the only V8s are the F150 and Mustang. With the F150 moving to a sales mix more biased towards 6 cylinder variants already it seems obvious they would tackle the sacred cow of the Mustang next. It's a shame, but inevitable given the current legislative environment and their desire to push Mustang in a wide variety of global markets. I guess my 2014 s197 5.0 may make a fine classic for somebody one day.

There's always a Camaro with a hoofing great V8 too....

Not so good then - I got the link from 6G on my phone and scanned it... pity if so!

V8-like? Going from the variety of US V8 power outputs over the years that truly is a nonsense statement that could mean anything!
