not quite!
purchase price+shipping+shipping insurance(optional)+any handling fees=X then +10%=Y then +17.5% VAT! yes you have to pay tax on tax!

$ to £ rate still good so worth it but it still sucks !!!!!

if I get a 1967 Mustang done a-la Eleonor does still qualify as a classic for the road tax here in UK?

I would utterly delighted not to fund any more robbery from this government...

As long as the car was made pre '72, it'll qualify as a "classic". Although why that's not a rolling date is beyond me.

Probably because that would mean at some time a Metro or Nissan Micra would be classified as 'classic'. We've got to draw the line somewhere. '72 only just sneaks in under the Allegro release date.vomit

Hey, each to their own.

There was an Allegro Vandan Plas at Sunday's Goodwood Breakfast Club. Sure, I might think it's as ugly as a car can get, but if it's tickles the owner's fancy, that's just fine by me.

I guess it stems from owning Capri's when they were very uncool. I could see the good in them when other's couldn't. I took a lot of stick for it, but I loved it, and that's all that counts

Yes but that's a different concept of being deliberately anti-cool which is cool like when I had an A reg Corolla 1.3GL, my anti-status car.
