Quick question - am nearing the end of life on my current 4 tyres (on a 2000 GT Convertible) and keen to get some recommendations for a possible replacement. Looking at "Z rated"/high performance tyres, 17inch, all weather, 245/45R size, and open to a wide array of possibilities. Low price a false economy generally - any recommendations?

Recently changed all four on mine for Kuhmo Ecsta's. Not a bad price and much better than the ones that were on there.

Good to hear and exactly what I am on currently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get them and what £?

I'm in the motortrade so just got the parts department to order them from our supplier (who I believe is a company called Group Tyre). I paid about £100 a corner.

I've got Dunlop Sportmaxx on mine. Very good. Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 is good too. Kumhos are the best of the budgets IMHO.

'Budget' and 'tyre' are a combination that makes me slightly uneasy, although a BMW I had a while back had Kumho tyres on it when I bought it and they weren't too bad. However putting new Pirellis on did make a big difference in the wet.

I agree but Kumhos did very well against the big names in a tyre test and I used them on my Z28 and my mate uses them on his Z06.
