Well, second time taking the car to the drag strip.

Mine and the cars first time was at the Pod and ran a 14.3 second 1/4.

This time, Shakespeare County Raceway, first run Saturday morning...13.02 seconds. Well chuffed.
Went there hoping to get into the high 13's....

Just want to get into high 12's now......

What is even better is knocking out those times consistantly (13.02 -13.5) then driving the 187 miles back home again that night without a problem or a niggle......

Ohh and missed out on thrid place in the Ford class due to not beign there the whole weekend. If I had stayed I would have come home with my first trophy ever......LOL

Highlight of day was the girl driving the manual GT convertible on 22's up the strip. She was used to driving an auto and spent half the strip banging off the rev limiter in first... :0

Some awesome cars there and some lovely early Mustangs. Couple of nice mach1's running and a very quick pale yellow 60's convertible Stang posting high 12' second passes.

Roll on the Ford SVT meet at the Pod at the end of June.

Nice one mate!

Hope to be able to give mine a run up the strip soon. Just need to get it dyno'd again to check the A/F ratio is all ok.

What speeds are you getting Kev? Well done for that run, that was damn close to a twelve

My blower is now on but I am not 100% happy with the tune, JDM have sent a new one over (eventually!) but the car feels a bit flat when at WOT. It dynoed at 377 rear wheel, but was very rich over 5500 rpm, like 10.0-1 afr. With the new tune installed I have run today at the Pod & it went 12.88 @ 112.8. On the next run the motor felt "fluttery" & it went 12.79 at 109.8. It is a sod to launch with 20's btw!

With the JDM stage 2 tune I would expect to see 116-117 mph at least. Having said that it is a beast on the road & I have only really noticed the problem at the track.

I think the car needs tuning here in the UK if at all possible, any ideas?

Cheers

Jeff,

Best top speed was 109mph. I need to practise my launch and 60 ft times. Its only the second attempt at the drags so I just need to practise...LOL

Have you changed the fuel pump? I went with the GT500 twin pump setup to sort out the A/F as it seems the stock pump is maxxing out around the 5500rpm limit.

Myself and Roger (black supercharged Saleen) have done the same mods and have found since the fuel upgrade, there is a lack of power. We think we are both down 20bhp.

JDM certainly make you wait for their tunes and I know Rog has chased them up a few times. Now thought they are recommending spending $1900 to go headers, Xpipe and smaller pulley to get the power back....hummmmmm seems like carrot and stick to me....set a target but fall short at the delivery then promise to get there is more money is spent...frown

I agree with getting it tuned in the UK. I have dynoed now on Dyno Jet and Dyno Dynamic machines and am amazed at the differences. Dyno Jet was 434 against 378 prior to mods on Dyno Dynamics.....
There is somewhere but best give me a bell...07778 163942.

I am sure I can get into the 12's and well done on getting there yourself. Did you so that on street tires? What pressures did you run?

Kev

Thanks for the reply

I do indeed have the GT500 fuel pump, the car was dynoed at Linden in Wellingborough & the tailpipe wideband shows it being very rich indeed at WOT & worsening as redline is approached. The car feels quicker at part throttle in fact. That's 3 cars with similar issues then!

I will call for a chat about it, I am off to Le Mans on Weds so it may be after that, but I am coming to the Dyno event on June 29th so rich tells me!

The runs were on the 255/35/20 P Zero's, pressures were 35 psi, slipping the clutch a little to get it moving and then feeding the power in smoothly seems to work. It will smoke them badly shifting into second though, the 12.7 was with a 1.98 60 ft time.

Speak soon

Jeff

Jeff,

I ran the Saleen on the dyno today and can confirm I have 'lost' 0.2 bar of boost pressure and 30rwhp. I have spoken to Jim jr at JDM and he has said this is what he expected to see.
Roger with the Black Saleen was told by JDM that if he bought longtube headers, X pipe and a 3.2 pulley rather than the 3.4 pulley we have then he would see the return of the missing bhp. Ohhh and this will cost $1900 eek
I do not think we should have to payout more money to get the results expected with fitting this stage 2 kit. Jim Jr has said he can sort some more power back by a new tune which I should get next week but he did mention a smaller pulley.
Strange that on a Dyno Dynamics rolling road, the rwhp is 377 and at the flywheel its 461bhp yet on a Dynojet machine these figures are roughly 70bhp higher....

Speak soon.

If i can pop in smile

Its generally accepted in the indusrty that dynojets will give figs between 10 and 15% higher at the wheels that the DD or any of the european dynos, Hope that helps smile

Vixpy,

Yup, the problem I have is the tuner stateside always quotes from a DynoJet. Trying to get him to relate to anything other than a DynoJet is becoming increasingly harder each time.
I have tried explaining that I am looking at current figures minus base run to give me what has been achieved to determine whether I have got value for money. He claims an increase of 75bhp I have 40bhp at best. These figures will not change despite what make of dyno you use as long as the before and after runs are done on the same machine.......
