I have the motul civic buy not the BMW I don't think....

Downy get chance to have a go - was busy round Spa! Soooo close to a top 100 spot.

If you find a decent car for the ring, post up your time and we an get a mini PH leaderboard going. Chris isn't allowed to play though. He's too fast! hehe

On the last chicane you can take quite a lot of the first part on the Kerb / green astroturf - give you a better line ingot the second part. Depending on what car you're in too, it sometimes helps to come off the throttle and let the car settle into the second part of it, allowing you to get the car straighter and onto the throttle.

I agree though, it's a hard corner made harder by the speed you approach it. In the bentley speed 8 I have a braking point of about 10m after the 'gran turismo' banner.

Hmmmm, quite a good set of events this time.

I had a go in the 2J last night... 1st time I've driven it. With cobbled together settings it's not much fun to drive so I'll have a look around and see if I can find some beter ones that make it nicer. It's pretty quick though... 6.14 on my 1st clean lap (for 35th).

Once I've set a lap time I'll share it... if anyone wants a go in it they'll be able to if they are on my friends list.

I can also put the Vertigo on share for the SSR5 drift trial if anyone needs one.

GTPlanet said:
Any questions about the authenticity of the Twin Ring Motegi screenshot that emerged yesterday can be quickly forgotten, as the image (along with another completely new shot) have been discovered on SCEA’s press site.

The original screenshot is now available in high resolution; you can download the 15-megapixel version here for closer inspection. Another new image of a 2012 Nissan GT-R emerging from one of Motegi’s overpasses can also be seen above.

As pointed out by Jay in GTPlanet’s forums, file names of the respective track screenshots clearly hint at which circuits will be featured in future rounds of GT Academy 2012:

Round 1: Autodromo Nazionale Monza
Round 1: High Speed Ring
Round 2: Rome
Round 2: Special Stage Route X
Round 3: Cape Ring
Round 3: Circuito de Madrid
Round 4: Eiger Nordwand Short Track
Round 4: Road Course – Indy
Round 5: Suzuka Circuit
Round 5: Tokyo R246
Round 6: Eiger Nordwand Short Track
Round 6: The Top Gear Test Track
Round 7: London
Round 7: Special Stage Route 5
Round 8: Circuit de la Sarthe 2009
Round 8: Twin Ring Motegi East Short Course
Finally, Kazunori Yamauchi answered a question via Twitter that many GTPlanet users have been asking: when will you be able to claim the prizes earned in the GT Academy 2012 mini-game in Gran Turismo 5?

Responding in English, Kazunori stated that “all the prizes will be sent out together when the 8 week event is over.” Thanks to all of you who sent this in so quickly!

Sorry about the bump, But thought I would ask this here rather than in any of the other threads.

Does anyone know if there are any 'Hot Hatch' championships online anywhere? Google isn't helping very much and I am enjoying winning the Hot Hatch races!

Update out:

http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-update-2-06...

GTPlanet said:
A new update for Gran Turismo 5, version 2.06, has just been launched and is now available for download.

The file weighs in at a hefty 475MB in size (that’s nearly half a gigabyte!), leading many to suspect it may contain a bit more than what’s outlined in the official list of changes. With Twin Ring Motegi having already been confirmed as part of the GT Academy 2012 mini-game, fans have good reason to be optimistic.

New information has also been released regarding the availability of prizes earned in the GT Academy 2012 challenges: they’ll be available on July 4, 2012, and will consist of the cars used in each round along with a special black driving suit, as seen here.

For now, here’s the official list of changes according to Polyphony Digital:

Updates and New Features

It is now possible to adjust the race BGM and sound effect volume from “Quick Options” during a race.
A save data backup feature has been added.
Compatibility for the sequential shift mode of the Guillemot “TH8 RS” gear shifter has been added.
A “Performance Difference Adjustment” has been added to the rewards for seasonal events (Applies only to seasonal events held after this update).
Force feedback for the “Driving Force GT”, “GT FORCE Pro”, “G25 Racing Wheel”, ” G27 Racing Wheel”, and ” T500 RS” steering wheel controllers have been improved.
A car with racing modifications applied are now categorized as a Racing Car (previously Tuned Car).
The off-track shortcut penalty has been tweaked.
The GT5 Photo Stream service has just been launched for all players worldwide. To view the latest images taken and shared in the game are now available here.
Bug Fixes

Fixed a problem where Karts and Ferrari F1 cars could drive together with other cars in the Lounge
Fixed a rarely occurring issue in which the system freezes when exiting the lounge
Fixed a problem where you could purchase tires for the 125 SPL racing Kart in the tuning parts shop (Tires purchased previously will now become invalid)
Fixed a problem in which the straight-line stability of the Lancer Evolution X was decreased when using a steering wheel controller
Fixed an issue where wrong color dirt and snow tire wheels were displayed on some cars when the wheels were changed
Fixed delay when launching electric cars using controllers other than a steering wheel controller pedal
Fixed a rarely occurring issue where the system would freeze at the end of a race
Fixed an issue where it becomes difficult to hear your own car when driving with other race cars in online races, etc.

what on earth is performance difference adjustment?

I'd rather they focussed on giving us some seasonal RACES rather than seasonal 'pick a much better car and then drive easily past 11 cars to win.' That is not racing, even making it hard for yourself so you only take the lead on the last lap isn't racing.

We need qualifying and tight grids and shuffling backwards and forwards - we need racing not just laptimes with other cars around!

Does anyone here (in the non-existent community) use the Data logger to improve their lap times? I looked at it for the first time last night. I could see how it could be useful but don't have time for all that larking about. Just wondering.

I haven't played GT5 for a couple of months, but thought I'd fire it up tonight. Well, doesn't look like I will - 7 updates, probably over 1.5gb by the look of it on my fairly slow connection. Only on the third one and taking forever!

Update sounds good, just wish they would add an option to limit the amount of turns on the DFGT wheel.

To be honest, I would much rather they gave the Motegi track as a free download rather than the bunch of Nissan cars for completing GT Academy.
