Ah FFS I got all excited as my smithing hit 50 and I could finally repair magic weapons. Just one small flaw in my otherwise cunning plan......

I'm in Broken Oar grotto, and keep getting killed, when I try to get into the Houseboat type structure thats on stilts. I assume its the hideout of the leader of the Blackblood Marauders? I get attacked by 4 or 5 enemy and am not strong enough yet to cope with them.

Anyone know if I can get out by a different route than the main entrance?

Go along the ridge on the left of the boat and they attack in single file along there - a few bow shots to each person as they arrive then a sword. Once they've stopped attacking then yes you can retreat back out (you can also hit the people on the boat from the ridge though). Hopefully you've got a health regeneration spell.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go. I'll check my potions first ! biggrin

He's invulnerable whilst the eye is open. You need to fire the staff at the eye until it closes at which point Morokei becomes vulnerable. Took me a while to realise this

Morokei is the Dragon Priest in the large cave not the Thalmor at the eye.

To kill Morokei you need either to use some magic to attack or paralyse him, slow time or magic defense and hit him up close with a big weapon.

To kill him I just used a bow and it was fine.

His ranged shock attack is lethal, it's almost a 1 hit kill.

Really wish I had some Resist Shock potions / apparel!

That does depend on what level your character is at (as well as armour protection, weapon damage) and at what level of game difficulty you are using.

I'm playing on Expert at level 30. I got him down to about 15% health remaining then I realised Lydia was dead and had to reload. She is carrying a load of stuff for me that I couldn't carry out this dungeon on my own.. So she kinds needs to live at least till I get back to the house.

Yep same here using sneek. I am finding being a sneeky archer much easier than storming in and going hand to hand.

Oh, apologies. I got confused with the Thalmor wizard dude right at the end of the quest. Oops. paperbag

I've got quite a bit but then I'm a shiny gold hoarder. I'm trying to make a money pit so I can dive into it like Scrooge McDuck.

Cue bad panoramic.

Well i'm level 36, done the dragon quest, I'm Archmage, Just done Dark Brotherhood & Thieves Guild & Nightingale Quest. I have 2 houses, Whiterun & Riften, have pretty much retired Lydia as she was driving me absolutely nuts always running in front of me when fighting then i'd end up killing her! banghead

I love just wandering and finding caves etc, especially now my magic & fighting skills are up a bit and i can destroy most annoying creatures like wolfs bears trolls etc with a couple of firebolts biggrin For tough fights i have my spectral assasin & best of all i can summon a Demora (?) Lord to fight for me who's tough as fk cool Get one now if you don't have it!

So what's next? I'm thinking of trying to improve weapons but don't really know how or where? I know i can start smithing by making a bunch of daggers but think i'd rather improve my magic weapons if possible. For example i really like Dawnbreaker sword but could do with strengthening it up a bit. I like one handed weapons so i can do a bit of magic with the other. wink

So what else is fun? Any recommendation?

You need a perk on the Smithing tree to improve enchanted weapons.

And you need to have smithing skills of 60 not the 50 I thought!!

It's the middle branch IIRC called Arcane Smithing or similar.
