Morokei is the Dragon Priest in the large cave not the Thalmor at the eye.

To kill Morokei you need either to use some magic to attack or paralyse him, slow time or magic defense and hit him up close with a big weapon.
My technique for the Dragon Priests is distraction (Sanguine Rose) and over to them as quick as possible as none of them have much melee strength. I just used Whirlwind Sprint to jump across to him.

Ah thanks guys, so i'll need to do a bit of basic smithing then to get my perks up. Guess i'll be making a bunch of daggers then, come to think of it i think i have smithing gloves and enhancement amulets in one of my chests somewhere. idea
Smith daggers then enchant them and go off and sell them (enchant with absorb energy or something) that boosts enchantment and smithing that way..... And makes quite a bit of cash too, a 10 Dagger with a 10 Soul Gem = 250 or so.......

Thanks for the tip, where's the best place to go smithing? I was thinking either the guy up at top of whiterun or the guy in solitude? Both seem good.

I used the woman as you enter whiterun, can sell her your daggers, and her husband in the shop without any hassle, although you get more money if you enchant them before selling them.

For smithing you make the weapons yourself, I just wander around all the smiths buying up the iron ingots etc then tan the leather of all the animals I've hunted (using my bow of souls which also of course gives me the soul gems to use for enchanting the daggers!) then it's pick a place - Whiterun also has a smelter of course and is right inside the door and if you have the breezehome also next door to where you can store all your blacksmithery tools!

For smithing I'd also start mining. There is a very potent mine just south of the dark brotherhood that is rich with the stuff you need for Dwarven kit. Kill a few animals to get some pelt and you'll end up making a pretty penny. You'll need to get your own smithing skill up a bit first so might be worth finding some iron mines as that's the basic stuff you can do without your smithing rating being too high.

Lots of bears and wolves between Ivarstead and Riften if you want to go hunting for pelts.

Spent hours yesterday getting my enchanting and smithing up. So it went, buy all the soul gems you can, go out and kill as many things as you can, to fill the empty ones. Take the hides and make leather and leather strips. Buy lots of iron, make iron daggers and hide bracers, enchant the lot then run all round the traders to off load. Rinse and repeat managed to bankrupt myself, well down to 700 gold.

Managed to find a handy spell to transform iron ore into silver ore and silver ore into gold. So a little safe iron ore mining, followed by "borrowing" a mages replenish magic robe should get me quite a haul. Gold enhchanted necklaces anyone?

Not very lucky with bows. Going up the light armour smithing tree, I was luck to pic up an enchanted Ebony bow early on, lost it, think I sold it by mistake. Replacement Elven bow I made got shouted out of my hands during a fight and forgot to pick it up.

As a tempory measure I raided the goldmine for Forsworn bows, they are pretty handy until I can find or make anything better.

Have you done the Dark Brotherhood questline yet? You get a unique enchanted bow during that.

If you have but didn't pick it up, it will still be there if you know where to look.

Does anyone know how the model for poison works? I have the potion , and when I go to use it, it asks me if I wish to poison my
selected weapon, Axe, whatever . Thing is, if you have the bow selected , does it poison the arrow in the bow, all the arrows in that
combat, or all the arrows in the quiver at the time? Any idea anyone?

I'm still in in Broken Oar grotto. I have killed all Blackblood Marauders except who is I assume the leader. He keeps killing me, I seem to have little effect on him, I'm only level 5, any hints?

I'm reminded of King Arthur in Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail.

That being "Run away! Run away!"

Or run & hide until he gets bored and says "must have been the wind" as he walks back through the pile of bodies. Then shoot again, repeat till dead.

And a sneak attack arrow will always do at least 2x damage, one shot can kill.

If you select poison its a one shot thing, so with your bow selected it poisons the first arrow so you need a clear shot. Same with axes / swords etc its the first strike thats poisoned.

I had serious trouble with the guy in Broken Oar as well, i ended up shouting him into the water then arrowed him to death. If you do this you need to go in the water & swim up to search him as he has a key you need.

I've already done that...several times! biggrin

He still seems to get the better of me.

Thanks all for advice, I reckon I'll give him another hour, if I still cannot kill him, I'll hoover up everything I can and buggar off, come back later when I'm up a level or two. The only thing that bothers me, is that I legged it into the grotto to get away from 3 hired thugs who kept killing me. I wonder if they will be outside still?

Running away is habitual for me, already !! laugh

Perhaps you need a distraction, mellie followers are good for this. They get stuck in while you pump arrows into them.

There are some magic options as well, summon a familier, summon flame/frost acronout

Good call. If you have the Sanguine Rose staff then that summons a pretty useful badass. Otherwise, Mjol is a good follower to have because, unlike Lydia, Mjol can't die. You can find her at Riften and to get her to follow you involves a fairly straightforward fetch quest to retrieve her sword Grimsever from a Dwermer ruins.

Interesting side fact about Mjol - although she goes on and on about bloody Grimsever and how people soil their armour when she draws it, she never uses it because it's a one-handed weapon and her stats have her as favouring two-handed weapons.

Mjol can die, she's done it on me before. Decided she was better off in the kitchen and cashing up back at the house so I married her and got a Companion to follow me. He's got a beard and just gets on with it.
