Probably should've explained my 'end in sight' comment better! Having invested 130 hours in the game over the past 6 months it's taken almost literally all of my gaming time. I've barely played anything else in that time apart from Lego Harry Potter with the Mrs. I think this is the longest I've gone in over 25 years without playing a single minute of computer / console football games.
In short, I want my (gaming) life back. I want to play Pro Evo and GT5 and Battlefield 3 and Rage and F1. Even much older games like GTA4 I've barely scratched the surface of.
I know I could play Skyrim almost infinitely. Alternatively, I can finish the main questlines and then never play it again. At least, that was the plan. The DLC might change everything...

I see what you mean now. Fair enough. I tend to spent inordinate amounts of time just playing a handful of games - I've clocked over 150 hours on each of Fallout3, Borderlands, Fallout: New Vegas and Skyrim. Plus, prior to those, loads of time on the Command & Conquer series. I tend to wring every drop out of a game.
(I've also played Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Portal, Portal 2, Bioshock and Bioshock2, but they have a more definite end so are less of a time vampire)
I have just joined Blockbusters on line rental. I can borrow XBox360 games, but I can't see anything that would lure me away from Skyrim. Its the fact that if you are riding along and you spot something, you can go and have a look and there is so much to look at. I think I have reach the boundry of the game twice in 5 months.
Yup you can just womble around and find caves/dungeons and whatnot with little quests in there as well.. Or decide to go smithing and spend ages doing that. Or decide to enchant some weapons and spend ages doing that. And so on..... There is over 100 hours of gameplay in this easily IMHO.
276hrs with the character I finished all the quests with and found every location etc. That was no magic, no enchating, no alchemy pure sword & armour.
I did start a mage character, magic only did 37hrs before getting bored.
Now just messing about with a modded savegame character, bandit faction, all bandits are friendly, western hold guards and Imperials aren't. Riften and Windhelm are the only safe cities and the start point is over in the Reach near Markarth, so it's cross country to a safe city. No dragons, no dragonborn no shouting. I have started the Thieves Guild quests as I think they are probably the most difficult to do first with no perks and low stats.

Blimey, I love enchanting weapons etc and making potions - it is so, so funny hitting a Giant with a Paralysing potion and watching him fall flat on his face...... I do mainly use bow and sword of course but a little magic here and there is always fun.

Magic does nothing for me. All sword, bow and armour here. My Magika is still at 100.
Edit: Oh, I do have 100 enchanting and a pretty much maxed enchanting tree. But that's more of a weapon / armour thing for me.
Yes, that is mainly what I do too - but I do like things like EbonyFlesh and so on.... Edit: Oh, I do have 100 enchanting and a pretty much maxed enchanting tree. But that's more of a weapon / armour thing for me.
And echanting weapons is great, I do love it (though I have got a wonderful bow of souls which absorbs energy by mistake... )

All clickable for full size.
Not sure if anyone else has installed it but the Moonpath to Elsweyr mod, well new land really as it's huge. It has new races one of which is a Sload, from reading it is an official Elder Scroll race.

Just bought this for PS3 to see what all the fuss was about. Looks very pretty indeed and there seems to be a massive amount to do - I can see the hours being eaten up quite nicely by this
You can say that again, you could spend hours just exploring. I have only bumped into the edge of the map twice in what must be 100’s of hour paying.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
