Caution-spoiler, concerns the civil war.

Which to go for, imperials or stormcloaks...

Last time I stayed neutral, however there is, apparently, bonuses for completing it with the treaty in favour of the side you chose, so I'll take sides this time.

For empire-

1. Elf, so can't really join stormcloaks.

2. it was only 1 imperial who actually wanted me dead at the start, the rest were just doing their jobs, and were sorry to have to send me to an early end...

3. Defending whiterun is my prefered action.

4. The uniform is better.

5. I don't like Ulfric. Even to the point of debating an assasination attempt...

6. In storyline terms, the empire is more nordic than the stormcloaks rebellion.

7. I always prefered the empire in star wars, and there are similarities.

For stormcloaks-

1. They haven't tried to kill me.

2. They don't work with those cruel nasty Thalmor (who also do the same stuff to elves as they do to nords, it's just kept secret better, so I can play the story of an elf who escaped a purge, came to skyrim to get revenge, or something...)

3. You get to kill the emperor in dark brotherhood quests, ties in with the rebellion...

4. The stormcloak people are generally nicer, it seems.

Hmm, I've just realised you can have multiple characters...

When's the earliest you can join the Dark brotherhood? I've just realised that my only real problem with AC brotherhood can be solved in skyrim...

Two choices. smile

Make it yourself (Can't make arrows without Dawnguard DLC) or level up and keep shopping, as it's leveled dependant on your game level (you probably know this already though)

What? The random not realising something obvious to everyone else? I don't know, I just do, sometimes it annoys me, other times I couldn't care less, other times it worries me incessantly...

Sorry for jumping in and blurting it out, I meant how do you have multiple characters? I've not touch Skyrim since about April...need to find some time for it tbh.

Presumably just start the game again with a different character and save it as a different file name?

Oh, I thought that was the obvious bit which I missed... Opps...

Save first game, go to the main menu, select new game, then, sit through the trip to Helgen tied up in the back of a cart, create your character, watch someone else get beheaded, nearly get beheaded yourself, saved by a big scary black thing that spits fire, run to a tower, jump through the roof of some building and run for another tower through and around some other burning buildings, then dependant on who you were with at the time either kills some guards (including the one who said you have to die) or pick up some stuff, and continue to escape through the torture chambers into a cave with a bear, some spiders, and a few easy NPCs along the way, then arrive out of the cave to see the big black scary thing fly off, walk along the path, find some useful stone objects which confer some bonuses, then onto a small villiage, past an ancient ruin, speak to either the blacksmith or the people at the mill, go further on into the small walled settlement of Whiterun where you meet a dark elf who pulls her sword out at you, then a old bloke sitting on a throne, speak to him, get assigned to this court wizard and his crazy quest to clear out some ruins and get a map (of sorts) go back to the small city, find out there is a dragon attack in progress, kill said dragon, find out something fairly crucial to the storyline, go back, become thane of said small city, and then you are fairly free to do whatever you want.

Anyway, have put this back on for the evening and remembered why I stopped playing it last time.

I'm stuck on defeating "Alduin" (the big annoying flying dragon up in the mountains) I have learned the Dragonred shout and I'm using it to bring him down to the ground, but no matter what I hit him with his health isn't budging

frustrated from Berkshire

Use Dragonrend to get him on the ground then attack him when he has landed with Dragonsbane sword, or lightning bolts work well. Or Mehrunes' Razor

You could turn the difficulty down to get past that bit?

This, he can only take damage on the ground it seems, use dragonrend on him to keep him down, then slash at him from the sides. Mehrune's razor has a chance of instant killing anything, but I got him with a Honed ancient nord sword of superior quality and a fire enchantment, at 30 odd damage.

This bit is really straight forward, although some guards get annoyed with you afterwards...
