Im doing the dawnguard quests atm, and have got the second elder scroll, but I dont want to be a vampire anymore, can I still do the dawnguard quests if i am not a vampire, as one of the quests i had to use a vamp power to control the moth priest. so dont want to cure myself an then not be able to do the dlc.

So are you doing the Dawnguard quests on the side of the Vampires or the Dawnguard?Option 1 - Did Serana make you a Vampire to enter the Soul Cairn? If so can you go back to a previous save and do it with the Soul-less option to enter the Cairn, as you get your soul back when you leave the Cairn. This way you can carry on with Dawnguard quests normally
Option 2 - You can get a quest started where you can seek out a priest who can cure you, if you are a Vampire and doing the Scroll hunting as part of the Dawnguard not the Vampire faction you cannot trigger the Dawnguards radiant quests if you are a Vampire and they will tell you to go get cured, this triggers it. If you are a Vampire of the Vampire side (Lord Harkon turned you) you cannot do the Vampire radiant quests as a normal. Your choice. But you can trigger the Vampire cure quest at any time by speaking to any innkeeper and asking about any rumours.
ive been in the soul cairn, and harkon made me a vampire when he game me the option at the beginning, didnt know you could do the quests for the dawn guard.
just got out of the cairn and now have to find the other scroll. so can I now be cured and carry on with the vampire quests or not?
dont really know, so atm will still be a vamp unless someone gives me a definate answer.

I don't know. If you are with the Vampire faction as a Vampire I don't know if that would effect anything if you go back into Castle Volikhar if you get cured.
Such as the Destroy the Dawnguard quests
Are you on a PC, if so install this mod - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9717
It reverses Vampire effects so you are stronger the more you feed instead of being weaker and it can turn off level 4 hatred. It's completely user configurable via the in game magic menu so you can change many aspects of Vampire life. So it becomes playable until you need to cure yourself properly.

All that happens if you get cured is Harkon orders you to cure yourself of mortality, and IIRC, some NPCs refuse to talk to you.Such as the Destroy the Dawnguard quests

BTW, Dawnguard removes the level 4 hatred/everyone attacking you thing usefully, I don't think my vampire character has fed since she became a vampire...
That's good to hear. I once tested it by making myself a Vampire (console command way) and hid behind a house so no one could see me and advanced time for each stage. No one could see me where I was yet as soon as it ticked over to stage 4 there were red dots everywhere on the compass and guards and NPCs all rushed in to attack me. Either they have x-ray vision or it was a very silly detection system.
I have played Oblivion and in a similar circumstance I only got recognised when I approached a guard at night and got within dialogue triggering distance.
