Looks like it's called Legendary Edition, like the PC version with all DLC.

There is that, or buying the DLC separately.

I've got Legendary Edition on PS3, it runs a lot better than the normal edition did on PS3, less buggy and no crashes so far. Load screens are slightly longer though.

I bought this in the steam sale too. Despite already owning it and completing it on Xbox. biggrin Funny thing is that now my missus is getting in to it and I've hardly been able to play it! I can see us having simultaneous skyrim sessions, which is a bit sad but hey ho.

I was impressed with the graphics on my i3/hd4000 laptop - not 1080p and no AA, but high quality textures and better shadows than xbox. Is it worth me trying hd textures or am i on a hiding to nothing with regards to frame rate?

Get the Nexus Mod Manager on here - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/modmanager/?

Then have a look at this list for the most popular mods, try the Skyrim HD on there the Lite version.
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/topalltime/?a...

Use NMM to install the mod (just do textures for now) and see how your laptop goes.

If it struggles deactivate the mod in NMM, try others though there are many to choose from of varying sizes.

Ta muchly!

But at the risk of being accused of being tight (meh) - are those files available anywhere else? I don't particularly want to pay to register on a website that I may only use once.

Excellent, Having completed it already on Xbox360 I'm looking forward to starting again with a fresh character and a new outlook.

The pay options are for a premium account - just skip all the stuff and at the bottom there is a create account button, click that, and it carries on to making an account without asking for pennies.

Like he says, free users just get a download speed cap of about 1mb/per sec I think, it's damn fast for me and you can have multiple downloads at a time, but they share the 1mb, so 1 at 1mb or 2 at 500k/s. Premium pay people have no limit on any number of downloads or speed as they are different servers (I think).

I think I am almost done with my character... Debating starting a new game or maybe giving Oblivion a go.

Thoughts?

I tried Oblivion after Skyrim, didn't like it.

Go for a specific type that you haven't done before.

magic only
bow/arrow/knife
sword & shield
dual wield swords
single great sword or axe/warhammer

Are you on a PC? If so add gameplay enhancement mods to make it more difficult or more immersive, things like Frostfall (cold is cold, you can die) and Realistic Needs and Diseases (you need to eat, sleep and drink to survive) what I like are the re-population mods that add more people to Skyrim so it isn't quite so bare.

This guys mods - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/users/6370620/?tb=...
OBIS (oraginsed bandits) - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31264/?
Immersive patrols (turn off bandits and battles as the above does it) - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12977/?
Inconsequential NPCs - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36334/?

and Interesting NPCs - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8429/?
• More than 225 Voiced NPCs
• Over 25,000 lines and over 500,000 words of Player and NPC Dialogue
• 47 Quests - 7-Part Main Questline, 6-part Miscellaneous Questline plus 19 Full and 15 Miscellaneous (Target Goal is 100 Quests so long as quality is maintained)
• Over 25 Followers with Location Based Commentary
• 11 Marriage NPCs

Could try playing them again?

My altmeri main has had 15 versions of her, of which 5 were started again for that reason, and 4 were to play her slightly differently, and 1 each because of swapping to PC/trying her on PS3.

The other 3 went before their time due to problems along the way...

Currently have two versions of her on PC, one level 122, who was mentioned earlier, and a level 20 who is on her way to collect the Note of Jurgen Windcaller.

Oblivion is still good now, but requires a lot more forward planning unless you don't mind knowing your character becomes progressively weaker as you play, and the modding side of things is still very much alive.

I might have a bash at playing in a different style. I have done the two handed route, the single handed route, and the sneak archer route before.

Never really dabbled in magic. I assume one should have a weapon of some description as well for when magica runs out?

I am on a PS3 annoyingly, and I am pretty sure it won't work on my Macbook Pro. Sounds like these mods can totally transform the game, I like the sound of that. Maybe I should get a PC when my laptop dies, although I can't see that being for another few years yet. Hmm.

Thanks for the advice though!

A) The great thing about TES games is there are as many playstyles as you can think of...

B) At first yeah, but once you have enough magicka and magicka regen you don't need it - my lv122 altmer can chuck master spells around like its nothing when she feels like it (even after modding the damage and magicka cost upwards) and the lv20 version hasn't needed a weapon since leaving Riverwood... (after modding to have Oblivion's racial stats, so a bonus 100 magicka rather than 50 vanilla)

If all else fails, bound weapons are useful early on for that, bound sword after the novice conjuration perk is 30-40 magicka, which is not a lot for a zero weight Steel sword/Daedric sword, (depends on whether you have mystic binding perk) with the additional advantage that power attacks use a lot less stamina. It also levels your conjuration skill PDQ.

Alternatively, there is the somewhat exploitish route of fortify magic skill enchants to end up with zero cost spells, but that means hauling 3-5 sets of armour around to make all spells zero cost, depending on whether you have the Extra Effect perk in Enchanting.

C) you can transform the game as much as you want - Beth design them to be modded, they've released the developer tools ever since Morrowind, and they would do it for PS3 and Xbox if Sony/Microsoft would let them...

I prefer to think of it as making the game the way it should have been.

Some of the latest Skywind images on here - http://deadendthrills.com/

Those who don't know it's Morrowind running in the Skyrim engine. So Vardenfell, quests, landscape looking as good as Skyrim, no more thunderbird puppet npcs and voiced acting for interaction.

It's closed development now but it's looking very good - http://morroblivion.com/forums/skyrim/skywind-mod-...

If you want to try something a bit more 'adult', try this:

Just working my way through the Witcher 2, and although you cannot create your own character as such, the plot and themes are miles ahead of Skyrim.

This is the intro for the game to give you an idea.

I can recommend playing it in the original Polish with subtitles.
