Nvidia latest beta drivers 337.50 - http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/...

Said to provide a 25% increase in frame rates for Skyrim.

I have it installed, remember to choose custom install and untick the horrible Geforce Experience thing as it overwrites and replaces the Nvidia control panel and never finds all your games anyway, and I do indeed get a frame rate increase and I have a lot of HD and NPC/AI mods installed.

Also said to give 64% increase for Rome II !

Will that beta driver make any difference on my GT740M or whatever the mobile version of the 740 is? I've downloaded them previously and not really noticed that much difference.

I haven't tried it yet, debating whether to pull the trigger or not. I loved Skyrim, but I don't think I am so keen on the multi player aspect.

FYI I love Skyrim...not bothering with ESO though.

I bought Skyrim at the weekend. I've never shown much interest, mainly as I'm not particularly keen on fantasy games that involve (pardon the reference) 'LOTR' style characters and plots. However I've always been a fan of the Fallout series, so I was curious to see how much is shared between the two franchises.

I'm addicted.

I'm still not massively keen on the 'LOTR' characters - I find it easy to skip over or not understand some of the dialog, mainly due to references I haven't heard of before. However the more I play, the more I'm drawn in. I love the vast open world, and the ability to explore and discover places. I also like clearing dungeons; it's a bit like Tomb Raider! tongue out

Yeah, done about 10 hours over the space of a few days. I'm feeling pretty tired at work due to some late nights too. I can see myself losing quite a bit of time with this! I think I managed 140 hours on F3 and F3:NV respectively! smile

You can double or tripple that for Skyrim

I'm playing. I quite like it but I would wait for a couple of months before buying as it is hideously buggy at the moment. Zenimax have an awesome attitude too - I haven't been able to play for 2 days this month because of server downtime (they had massive logging in issues on the European servers) and they basically said they didn't care as they already had my money!

It's not really a multi player if you don't want it to be - yes, you see other people and you can all interact with the flora and fauna, but you don't have to take part in the PVP if you don't want to (I'm not). It is very similar to Skyrim - loads of quests, you can do crafting etc and there are various lines you can take to upgrade your character.

I would have preferred it if it wasn't an MMO but it's pretty good as it is. There are still quite a few kinks in the system but as the servers are taken offline regularly for maintenance, they are slowly but surely ironing everything out.

Quick update from me.

This game is AMAZING. Too good.

Spent ages improving Smithing and Alchemy to 100. I then found the naughty fortify restoration glitch on youtube and ended up getting millions of improvement points in enchantments (DON'T DO IT! ruins the game)

I ended up sneaking around undetectable (sneaking is improved 1,000,000%) and one-shoting giants with my dagger/bow (smithing is improved 1,000,000%) wearing my god-like armour.

Even with all these easy glitches ruining the challenge of the game, I couldn't stop playing and Skyrim was eating up entire evenings/nights.

It's the first game I have had that I have had to hide in the garage out of sight to stop me playing.

Am I weird?

I'm on level 57 and I can now 1 shot giants with my bow, if I'm sneaking. I have a 3X bonus if sneaking, and a few enchanted bits for archery.

Mammoths go down in 2 hits, Dragons take many more.

Firstly although I've not done anything for ages I always keep my mod list updated and even install new mods that look good, I have a completely clean save in the Riverwood Trader at the very start that was saved with no mods installed so that I can install or uninstall without save game problems.

I always used BOSS to sort the mod plugin order for best compatibility, it used a masterlist to set load orders.

BOSS (latest version 2.2) has been superseded by it's successor, LOOT (Boss v3). It sorts plugins by what they do rather than by using an external masterlist. This means the load order is very different to what BOSS produced.

I've tried it, nothing broke. smile

I'd love to try something like this, but having Skyrim on my Xbox, and a bunch of other games I really don't think I'd be able to do it justice.

And then there is the fact that I doubt my laptop would run it very well. It has 12gb of RAM and an i5 processor, but only a Nvidia GT740M which is not the best graphics card.

I have Skyrim on my Xbox. In fact I bought an Xbox just to play Skyrim. Its perfectly playable in its current format, you don't need to add trees, mess about with graphics, add different armours etc. Stick it on give it one hour and I swear you will not look at your other games for months.

I started on the easiest difficultly level, playing hand to hand combat, most perks in heath and stamina. It was getting to the point I was pretty much immortal running around in enchanted ebony armour. I have upped my difficulty level at least twice since I started. Go to be some risk or it just gets boring.

TBF, your character at endgame is essentially a god/dess in the making.

Bought this at Christmas during the steam sale and only just started playing it (have downloaded the hi-res pack) - struggling with the weight limit at the moment (only because I'm short of gold and want to pick up and sell everything).
Plot hasn't grabbed me yet but I'm only level 8 so have only cleared out a couple of places.

Remember you have 30 in game days until bandits respawn and at least 4 traders in Whiterun you can sell to in one day (before they run out of money). Early on what I did was at for example Fort Greymoor, was go in and kill all the bandits, then bring all their gear and anything else to sell up into the courtyard, just outside the main door in. Will need a few trips due to the weight limit. Then pick up as much as possible and fast travel to Whiterun and sell armour and weapons to the two at Warmaidens, sell bows to the elf in the Drunken Huntsman and sell the rest to the creepy guy in the general store. You also have the possibility of selling potions and poisons to the woman in the apothecary as well. Just go back and forth until you have shifted and sold the whole stash and before the bandits respawn (then you could repeat) smile

Picking up everything is a PITA. Try finding the transmute spell, then you can mine iron and turn it into silver and then gold. Make rings or necklaces and enchant them for more value.

I have recently started playing this. And it is taking far to much of my time.

I found the carry limit was to restrictive and so I amended the carry limit using the Developer console.

Still have to concentrate on selling everything I pickup but it is very useful.

Thats just cheating tongue out

There are a few ways to increase carry capacity if you are not on PC. Enchant boots with increase carrying capacity, companions can carry stuff for you, also give them boots with increase carrying capacity enchantment. You can buy and make potions of increase carry capacity. You will get to a point when you just don't need any more money. I just tend to pick up soul gems to recharge weapons.

Without cheating there's also the Steed Stone, that increases carry weight by +100
