I'm glad you asked that question because I was also wondering exactly the same thing.
Having had a chance to spend many many pleasurable hours on the new PS4 version knocking out iron daggers to get 100 smithing and having a general look around all the places I'd forgotten about I'm of the opinion its at last matching the graphics with the gameplay.
My next intention is to buy the PS 4 Pro but the back of the disc box says 1080p as it's highest resolution so could it be a waste of time my buying the PS 4 Pro.

I'm glad you asked that question because I was also wondering exactly the same thing.
My modded original version I posted the screenshot of above (on the previous page) is very much being played!

I loaded it up with all the various graphical tweaks, ENB pre-set, animation mods, gameplay mods including the huge "Perkus Maximus" mod which completely overhauls/expands the game's perk & skill system to make it considerably deeper.

Once it was all up & running at decent FPS (50+) and looking stunning, I started a new game and I'm now about 20 hours into it, at level 24 I think. With the substantial gameplay overhaul, along with the "people of Skyrim" mod which seems to more than double the number of NPCs & buildings, it is genuinely feeling like a new game.

A lot of the 80 or so mods I'm currently running aren't compatible with Special Edition yet (until the Script Extender is ported), so that can wait- whilst I get back to cinematically chopping bandit's heads off in glorious, ENB-enriched detail! Oh and with another mod ensuring the camera pans out for the cinematic kill move on every kill biggrin

So yeah, definitely playing the game here. In fact I've not downloaded a Skyrim mod for almost 3 weeks now! hehe

Excellent, I'm only jealous because I swopped to console back in the days of Oblivion but my swap for game reliability had a huge price to pay for with inferior graphics.

Ouch, I just couldn't imagine playing any of these games (Skyrim/Oblivion/Fallout) on anything other than PC. The original games are invariably great, but it's the mods that really take the games to the next level and keep me playing for years.

I've always thought bugs are much easier to rectify on the PC versions too? For instance, after going crazy overhauling the graphics for this current build, I was initially only getting around 20fps- a couple of hours on Google and editing .ini files and it now runs a constant 50+ FPS with the graphics settings turned up even further!

Funnily enough Oblivion was the first Elder Scrolls game I played. I was already a big fan of Fallout 3 so figured I'd give it a try. Skyrim had recently been released at that point but as I'd never really seen the appeal of the 'fantasy setting RPG' (always preferred guns!) I bought Oblivion instead as it was only £4.99 for the Game of the Year edition, as opposed to £35 for Skyrim. I figured it would be a cheap way to see if I enjoyed the setting or not.

Here we are several years later and my hours logged on all the Fallout games combined is probably less than a 3rd than I've spent in Skyrim hehe

Way back in the day of Oblivion my top of the range Overclockers gaming PC had fantastic graphics but I just got fed up with loosing all my progress when the game would just freeze and a re-start was all you could do. When I changed to the console my first look at the burning cauldrons in one of the rooms had a crap flame and no smoke or very little and I thought have I done the right thing.
If the PS4 Pro stands up to the hype I'll be very interested in what you get for £350, at the moment careful adjustment of my highish spec 4K Samsung telly does create a wonderful picture generally.
Although welcome on Fallout 4 the uprated format is a bit wasted as the scenery in general is a bit desolate. compared to Skyrim.

I got new vegas when it was on offer but i don't have 10 hours in that, I just went back to skyrim again.

Skyrim is 737 hours, over 10 or so different characters.

Se is 5 hours, with another character build no mods as yet.

One thing I am waiting for before starting a playthrough is the patch that makes Vivid Weathers and True Storms work together. When I played Skyrim originally I used Climates of Tamriel and True Storms but want to use Vivid with SE.

Both are now available with SE. I disabled Vivid Weather though as it seemed to be conflicting with something causing the rain to look black.

Yes they are both available but you cannot run both together without a patch.

Seen that already. That's not the official patch that is being put together and the authors comment of "Hold your breath guys. i may of got ahead of myself with this one" doesn't inspire confidence of compatibility. It's not working properly.

I'm waiting for the official patch from the True Storms author.

Hit my first game breaking bug.

Running the campaign and get to the end of A Cornered Rat, where you enter Riften and find Esbern in the sewers. Sadly, follwoing the conversation with him, the next part of the story simply doesn't trigger. Esbern talks about hurrying to Riverwood, but just goes back to stirring the bot in the corner, regardless of which dialogue options are chosen. Simply heading out to Riverwood and waiting doesn't help either, Delphine talks as though you've yet to do the quest and when you head back to Riften, Esbern is still in the corner of the room, stirring his pot.

Loading an earlier save and reaching the same point (via half an hours gameplay to reach it!) yielded the same result.

How frustrating.

How frustrating.
Have you completed all the dialogue, try talking to him again in case something was missed? Sometimes the dialogue ends but you have to click on them again for more options.

Yes, unfortunately.

For whatever reason the next quest,"Alduin's Wall", doesn't appear once the current quest is completed, with the result that Esbern's AI never gets the prompt to head to Riverwood. I've logged it with the Unofficial Skyrim SE Patch site, I'll see if they come back with anything.

Meanwhile, I've got another save file from further back that I'm going to try, with mods disabled.

Upto level 15 on the se version.
Noticed the sound has improved, I switched back to the org version to compare.
Surround is better plus stereo through the headphones.

I'm going to get this character upto level 50 or so, then shelve it and start another with mods added.

Pc or console?

If PC have you tried forcing Alduin's Wall to start by opening the console and typing -

setstage MQ203 10

if that doesn't help

Sorry, should have said. I'm playing on Xbox One.

I did manage to sort the issue though. I disabled all the mods and reran it with a much earlier save, and once I'd worked my way through to Esbern again it triggered the next quest without issue. I've got no idea what caused the issue, but happy to have resolved it.

Seems they didn't bother to fix the bug where quests can't be completed rolleyes
