Damn that still looks fresh!

What are you running it on dude? I've just picked ordered a Palit GTX 1080 for the build I'm starting a month or so, and just took delivery of a 3440x1440 screen, it looks like Skyrim works on ultrawide quite well

Just a GTX 680 but factory overclocked, standard 680s run at 1006MHz (1058 boost) 192GB/s. Mine is running at 1137MH/z (1202 boost) 198.4 GB/s and a texture fill rate of 145.5 G Texels/s. It's only the 2GB memory that holds it back, I can throw 2K textures at it no problem instead of 4K but on my 1080 24" monitor you wouldn't notice the difference. I can run Skyrim via NVidia's 2715x1527 settings which gives me 2715x1527 sized screenshots though.

Although since 32bit Skyrim has a ram limit of 3.1GB before it falls over I can run more 2k textures than 4k anyway. smile

Awesome, thanks dude! Skyrim with mods will be one of the first things I'll be playing, I'm actually looking forward to the dark nights so I can play with lights off and headphones on.

I've read that the Skyrim Remastered that's being released will be good for mods too because it's 64-bit rather than 32-bit of the regular Skyrim, heard anything about that?

Also is there an FPS limit in Skyrim or can you run it unlimited?

Testing Water Colour and sun scattering of this ENB Realstic Water Two optional plugin - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48938/?

Too bright for my ENB but it might work for others, although I haven't tried turning SunScatteringMultiplier down below 1.

Also I just realised I was using the button for ENB screenshots, it's losing the edge filtering and showing jagged lines on edges that are not in game.

Looking at those you would never think that game engine is as old as it is.

All hail the mod developers! bow

And of course the mighty PC biggrin

Just been adding some more as I've created a new Skyrim install (saving my old one to an external HDD) to lose old mods that might be out of date and install new ones and keep as much compatibility as possible. Reinstalled Interesting NPCs and the new Relationship Dialogue Overhaul to get more NPCs and have better voiced dialogue with NPCs and just had a "that's clever moment". I was in Riverwood and a mercenary (from Interesting NPCs) ran into the village, they ran over to the notice board (notice board mod posts radiant quests and missions new to me) and started studying it, then ran off as if he accepted something.

Interesting NPCs - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8429/?
Relationship Dialogue Overhaul - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/74568/?

171 installed mods with 132 plugins. I do go mad sometimes.

But with the merge plugins tool - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/69905/? I will be able to merge weapon mods together into a merge single ESP or armour mods or others that it allows to reduce that down.

Three more useful mods on top of USLEEP patches and cutting room floor.

Fixed lip sync - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/75951/?
Crash fix - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72725/?
Bug fixes - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/76747/?

Ignore 'Safety load' or 'stable uGrids to load', crash fix is the most up to date.

That sounds awesome, those are exactly the kinds of mods I usually go for- anything that makes the world feel that bit more 'real'. I'm up to around 140 mods I think on my main Skyrim install- but some of those are probably well out of date now, I need to have an overhaul like you've done with a fresh install.

I certainly couldn't imagine playing the game in its vanilla form now! hehe

Edited above, Interesting NPCs not Inconsequential. Interesting NPCs is the big 2GB one, I used to have both but Interesting NPCs is the one to have.

^^^ The difference is ridiculous! Great screenshots.

I'm going to bite the bullet tonight and do a completely clean re-install so I can try out some of the newer mods and also have a play with the ENBs (I've never used one on Skyrim yet, only F4).

I assume the easiest way is deleting the Steam local files and re-downloading? I'm not fussed about saving anything- my old Skyrim file had too many out-of-date mods anyway and I've had my fill of Enderal for now, I just want the cleanest possible starting point!

My old Skyrim save had a combination of mods from the Nexus (manually installed & mod manager), plus a load of Steam workshop mods (it's a miracle it was as stable as it was!)- I assume simply deleting all local content should wipe all of this and put me back to square one.

Does Mod Manager also get 'wiped' clean by this or does this need to be done separately?

If you delete your skyrim folder (or do a delete local files in steam) and the install info and mods folders that NMM used are in the same folder and deleted by steam or by yourself (I don't think steam removes them) then it will not list the old mods, it will be clean. One extra thing you need to delete is the virtual install folder which is in, - ../Nexus Mod Manager/Skyrim/Mods/Virtual Install

PS backup your mydocuments/my games/Skyrim for your ini files if you made any specific changes.

Go for a simple ENB first, that only installs the basics. I use Rudy ENB.

Just remember to turn off AA and AF in the skyrim launcher as the ENB takes care of those.

The enblocal.ini file in any ENB needs to be adjusted based on your system RAM and graphics RAM lots online about it many contradictory or wrong. It's often a bit of trial and error but with my 2GB gfx card and 8GB system ram what works for me are these, in bold :

[MEMORY]
ExpandSystemMemoryX64=false
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=true
DisableDriverMemoryManager=false
DisablePreloadToVRAM=false
EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false
ReservedMemorySizeMb=256
VideoMemorySizeMb=5654
EnableCompression=false
AutodetectVideoMemorySize=false

These of course can be different and there is a memory logs mod on Nexus that helps you with the Reserved Memory size and you can change videomemorysize to true and let your game sort it, it says just over 8gb when I let it. Now Skyrim can only handle up to 3.1gb of graphics memory anyway but those settings are not maximum usage but memory management to prevent crashes.

IIRC Rudy ENB puts in black bars (vignette) top and bottom for the film effect, if you try it and don't want them you can remove them using the in game ENB settings, can't remember the keys but they are mentioned top left as the game loads.

Read all instructions too smile

And if you have more of a monster PC have a look at Hodilton's ENB playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbjrT3LrSq0...

Kountervibe is a heavy one - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58534/?

ENBs use their own weather settings so some are adapted to work with mods that do weather like Purity or Climates of Tamriel, some aren't but again try whatever you want.

One tip, if I have an ENB to install I create a folder that I have put together on the desktop with the enb files and then paste in the enb preset files I want and name it after the enb. Paste the whole folder into Skyrim, then copy all the files in it into the main skyrim directory where they all go (same place as the TESV.exe), so that if I want to remove it and try another ENB I just open the named folder and the skyrim folder and match up the files and delete the Skyrim ones. Does that make sense or wobble

You have used them is Fallout 4, so some of the above probably isn't new to you but I posted just in case.

I'm mostly with you I think! biggrin

I'll see how I get on tonight and no doubt I'll be back here if I've got any other queries hehe

My card is an R9 290 so 4gb onboard RAM, with 8gb system RAM. CPU is an 8-core FX-8350 at 4.0ghz. Rudy was the ENB I was going to try, so I'll see how I get on with it. I'd like to go a bit further on the graphics tweaks than I've done previously- but still keep it well within the realms of playable.

I also need to decide what texture mods etc to use this time- I'm sure the one I was running previously is somewhat out of date now.

What other graphics mods were you running for those screenshots above?

I should get some decent time at it tonight as I'm leaving work early to pick my Honda Accord up from the garage- I've had to use my TVR for work since last Friday and the petrol costs have been making me weep!

Loaded in order so that the latest one overwrites the earlier one. The main ones are,

1) Skyrim HD 2K - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/607/?
2) Noble Skyrim 2k - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/45807/?
3) Tamriel Reloaded interiors - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/45807/?
4) Unbelievable grass two - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/67478/?
5) Realistic Water Two - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/41076/?

Whiterun is from JK's Skyrim all in one - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/61035/?

It's possible that Noble overwrites everything of Skyrim 2K, doesn't matter I do it as it makes sure nothing is missed. smile

I also use Enhanced lights and effects - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27043/? but choice is open with Realistic Light Overhaul or Shadows.

Awesome, cheers thumbup

One of the big gameplay mods I want to try this time is the overhauled perk system mod - Perkus Maximus

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails...

I've used a couple of different skill/perk mods in the past but nothing as extensive as this, looks good.

Forgot one extra tweak if you try the Rudy ENB. In the enblocal.ini change EnableEdgeAA from false to true.

[ANTIALIASING]
EnableEdgeAA=true <---------
EnableTemporalAA=false
EnableSubPixelAA=false

Then you don't get the jagged edges on straight lines.
