64 bit Windows only it seems? frown
Apparently the demo is 64 bit only however the full blown game will be 32 bit compatible when it comes out. What version of Windows are you running per chance? smile

The Battlefield blog provided some information that beta testers will need. One odd piece of news that was revealed is that PC players will need a 64 bit OS for the beta.

Odd my fking arse oh well.

64 bit OS is really a requirement these days. IMO 4GB is really the absolute minimum for a gaming machine and a 32 bit OS won't even take advantage of that. I noticed a big difference moving from 4GB to 8GB in BF3 loading times even before I got my SSD.

Anybody that is still running on a 32 bit version of W7 and wants to upgrade to a 64 bit version there is a tonne of ISO images available here, just burn to a DVD and you are good to go. Make sure you download the correct version for your licence key though!

Um. So I just install the 64 bit version and don't have to make any backups or reinstall software I've spent days installing and updating? wink

My reetail copy of 7 came with 64 bit and 32 bit editions on the same licence key. if you have a retail or OEM edition this may well work. If you have a copy that came with your PC there's a good chance that it's version specific.

Think of the nice clean hard drive and amazing performance you'd have! Not to mention getting rid of all those old programs which you no longer use wink

One my old PC's came with a preinstalled 32 bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium. I used a 64 bit Home Premium ISO from a site like I listed above and the key included with the PC worked absolutely fine! I think a key should work fine on both X86 and X64 but you just have to make sure you have installed the correct flavour of windows (home premium, pro, ultimate, etc) dependent on your key.

I believe if you pre-order Battlefield 4 premium now you will get access to the Beta. If you were a Battlefield 3 Premium player, or if you purchased Medal of Honour you get access to the Beta too.

Cheers smile

Not the case, sadly. I use 90% of the programs I've installed.
