Earned? is there something you're not telling us?

DLC - daylight robbery in my opinion. May be fun for a while, but just too expensive.

I personally, regret getting the Season pass, as the rally DLC is a major let down. I had just over 4000ms points, so I bought it, for 6 car packs and the rally pack, when I could have got 10 car packs for 4000ms points at 400 a pack. Stupid stupid Tom.

I get the feeling Turn 10 have been trying to see how much they can get away with on DLC (see Forza 3 -> Forza 4 price increase) and for me they've passed that tipping point; everything they release feels about twice the price it ought to be, and as a result so far I've bought not a single thing. Unexpected, since I paid up for every single pack they released for the previous games.

If they do a significant sale on the season pass I'll grab it but otherwise it all feels a bit "what can we get away with?" and as a result wallet has stayed firmly in pocket.

For me this game didn't have enough longevity to justift all the dlc still to come.
I completed the game, bought one of the car packs in that time but after finishing the 'story' found that I only played it for a couple more hours waiting for the random last barn find(250gto) to unlock. I got bored of randomly driving around so have traded it in and gone back to forza 4 to finish that off.(Gonna take a while!)

Didn't realise the 250 GTO was a barn find. smile

I may have not got the model exactly right, may have been a 250 tr. but the bloody thing wouldn't unlock despite having found the location of the barn!

That's what I'm worrying about. Rally is fun for a bit, and I've still got a little story mode left to go, but my interest in the game is starting to waver. I'm still waiting on the last 3 or 4 barn finds to pop up (the first few came in rapid succession, sometimes even one popping up while the other is still being restored, but since then I've had nothing for about two weeks?).

I think what the game needs is more things to do with the cars. The environment is fun, yes, but there's only so many times you can amble through the select few really good roads, maybe racing a few of the roaming AI drivers.

I think a bigger variety of events would have really spiced it up, beyond the standard race format. I think they could take inspiration from Grand Theft Auto's car based missions - the ones that don't involve violence, that is... Things like having to race around picking up collectable things scattered in an area on the map, don't drop below a certain speed, etc. I really enjoyed all the PR missions and hammered through them when I discovered them, but once they were all gone, I got a bit tired of just racing. The Showcase events were OK until you realise the plane race ones are rubberbanded, and the other variations are all the exact same principle with a different vehicle graphic.

I also was hoping for a bit more modification, being that the whole game is supposed to be about "car culture". I was expecting to see:

  • A better wheel selection. Most of the wheels are to be honest pretty pants, and of the handful of brands in there that I do like, they didn't have their most famous wheels...
  • Possibility of repainting OEM wheels. Seems like an obvious choice considering it's so commonly done in the automotive world. My Aston DBS looks lovely in dark gunmetal, except the wheels are the same colour and there's nothing I can do to brighten them up besides fitting something aftermarket which looks terrible. Honestly, I have the option to tint my windows hot pink, but I can't paint the wheels silver? Has anybody wanted coloured tinted windows in the last ten years? It's great to have the choice, though.
  • OEM wheel swaps - even if it's kept within the same marque like the engine swaps for realism. I desperately wanted to kit out my 458 with F40 style wheels but as there's nothing that resembles them in the aftermarket wheels in the game it's impossible (even though for example HRE are a manufacturer in the game and are famous the last two years for their range of retro wheels, inc. an F40 style model).
  • More detail with the wheels. Wheel fitment is very 'in' this year and I was hoping to see details like sizes, widths and offsets taken into account and customisable. Bonus points would be the possibility of spacers to get the wheels to sit just so - extra bonus points for offering the ability to custom build split wheels by varying the barrel and lip sizes. Many of the cars in the game come with very sunken wheels as standard and there's nothing you can do about it later even when using aftermarket wheels.
It wouldn't be that hard to implement - the standard wheels all seem to sit in the right places in the arches which is your starting point; the offset of standard wheels is easily found on the web, from that you can calculate where the hub face sits, and after that the world's your oyster!

  • More detailed suspension setup. Again following the fact that Horizon is very about the "scene", I was expecting to see coilover suspension as an option with fully customisable ride height and stiffness along with camber settings. Instead you just get your three levels of ride height which combine with suspension stiffness, and that's your lot. I wanted to be able to make my Skyline (eg) look like anything from a groundscraping barely driveable posemobile to a snow-ready rally car. You could even combine this with the wheel offset point above to take into account wheel rub/bottoming out - you already know where the arch lips sit on the cars, the rolling radii of the tyres and wheels (because you've modelled all of them), so a simple formula: if wheel sticks out further than distance X then when wheel travels upwards more than Y distance (taking into account rolling radius), lock suspension and play tyre scrape sound effect. If the player wanted to fiddle with this sort of aspect of the game, then this would force you to finesse your setup to ensure you don't get bottoming out, unless of course you don't care about performance and just wanted it to look that way - as in real life.
  • A better choice of body parts. Most cars just have the Forza kit of track splitters etc - some cars don't even have a de-spoiler option, like the 355 - a travesty! - I was pleased the Aston V12 Zagato could de-spoiler though. I was hoping to see widebody options at least for popular "tuner" cars like the Supra/RX7, maybe some bolt-on fender flares as a more "universal" option like the Forza splitters - I couldn't deck my 240z out with Watanabes and bolt-on flares which is another travesty!

I think they kind of shot themselves in the foot by advertising the game as being so much to do with car culture. The modification side of things - which is a huge part of that culture - isn't really up to scratch. They said that because the game is a bit more arcadey that the mods could be turned down from Forza4 levels to make it more accessible; I would argue the opposite, they should be the same if not MORE detailed (at least on the visual side of things). Much like the driver aids can make the game an arcade racer or a pseudo-sim, why can't there be an advanced mode to the modifying? Now that I'm bored of the racing I would quite like to tinker with obscure things like gear ratios and camber angles.

Im doing this too. A friend of mine has completed it. Took him about 180 hours of gameplay. I'm up to about 85 hours.

It is cold and wet so just spending some time on Horizon - I do not have any sort of DLC, just as it came out of the box.

I am doing the PR Stunts and that Ultima speed trap challenge was becoming a joke - I got this message multiple times (about five) and it was always 0.02 away!

It is now complete. biggrin

I would have liked to be able to "rally-ise" the standard cars too; raised suspension only doesn't really do it.
Even if it was just the ability to stick a front lamp pod & maybe a spare wheel on the car somewhere. They'd just have to define an XYZ position for the components for each car - probably only a morning's work for one bloke.

I would have been good, especially for cars with rally heritage like the Mini and Evo 6. You never know they may sort it for Horizon 2.

Please, please, please could someone do me a little favour? It's nothing big, will take about ten seconds when you're next in the clubhouse.

I really hate asking but i don't have enough time to earn the money to buy my own cars on the game. I'd give something in return but i don't know what?!

Can someone put up as many of these cars as possible please? They need to be fully upgraded (With aspiration) and preferably in a nice regular colour.

McLaren F1,
Ferrari FXX,
Aston V12 Zagato,
Ferrari F40 Competizione,
Ford GT40 Mk11,
Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4.

And that's it. smile

Many thanks, RobTVR.
Come on guys, there must be someone who has one of these cars in their garage who is willing to spend a minute uploading them....

Pleeeeassseeee.... Pretty pleeeeassseeee....

I havent really answered to this thread, wasnt too sure if many PH'ers actually still play this game?

Is there a PH club then that you want the cars to be uploaded to? If so the Lamborghini Murcielago is yours smile
