Help bring Carmageddon back
Discussion
This thread has made me work out how to get C2 running on my mac. I forgot how floaty the physics are! Loving it though, I've just got through to the second round of races and have completed the first one in Beaver forest - my favourite level.
I seem to remember when I played through the game in 1998 (I was 13!) I stuck with the eagle until I got the yellow plough-like thing, which was awesome. I remember buying the flightless Stuka too, it wasn't terrible agile...

I remember the mission where you are in the city, about a mile away from the quarry truck driving head on at each other. I thought it would be impossible, until I crashed into it head on and somehow wasted it...
Was that truck in C2? I remember there being a truck like that in the demo for the Splat Pack for Carma 1.
I forgot all the little Carma frustrations, like when the AI get stuck upside-down underwater. You have to find an underwater ability and push them into mines.

Yup, the trick to that level is that there's a "solid granite car" powerup available right near the start. Using this you'll waste the dump truck with one good hit.Was that truck in C2?
I'm so glad to hear this game is making a comeback. I still play this today. With all the fancy graphics that the PS3 may offer, nothing beats some old school Carma 2.
I can't wait for this to be released and will watching the thread closly. Fingers crossed it will reach PS3 format and there won't be any problems getting it into the shops via the media, press and all the doo gooders moaning.

Or just drive off and leave them too it, at which point they recover... We just didn't want them to recover in front of you, as a disappearing car would look weird, even though do it yourself. Was that truck in C2? I remember there being a truck like that in the demo for the Splat Pack for Carma 1.

Might be good if there was a "Console" which had an info feed thing, like on Modern Warfare etc, where in the bottom left corner it gives you a scrolling list of action, i.e. who's shot who with what. If you did a similar thing in Carmageddon then this feed would inform you when an opponent passed a checkpoint, or was wasted, or recovered etc.
That way you can work out where they are a bit faster, and also be notified that they HAVE recovered, so you can go find them and smash them some more.
What do you think?
EDIT TO ADD: http://www.charlieintel.com/wp-content/gallery/cam...
You can see it bottom left here.

I think it would also be annoying if they recovered in front of you, as you might WANT to push them around underwater...!

Carma II did do this with the info screen, which you could cycle through all your opponents - but hardly anybody ever used it!Might be good if there was a "Console" which had an info feed thing, like on Modern Warfare etc, where in the bottom left corner it gives you a scrolling list of action, i.e. who's shot who with what. Original Carmageddon coming to iOS and Android this Summer. SWEET! Well done chaps!!
Thank God we've announced this now! I must admit, I'd been on a bit of the naughty grape juice whilst on holiday when I dropped those heavy hints in this thread, which I then felt really guilty about! Glad that it's now in the open. It's VERY cool by the way. Just fixing the last few bugs right here, right now.

The video of it does look awesome. It's VERY cool by the way. Just fixing the last few bugs right here, right now.
In the press release it mentions that it'll be free on the itunes app store in the first 24 hours, is that the same for androids too? Don't want the people suffering from iSmugness to have all the fun

It's terrible news to me. I only have PSP and Vita.
I don't think that Sony would approve it - they don't want old games like this on those platforms (even though we - well, I actually - did the Atari coin-op classics on PSP).Carma:Reincarnation on Vita would be very cool though, and we will consider it. A bit chicken-and-egg of course, as like most of our industry, we don't want to support it until it takes off, but it won't take off until it has support from people like us.
