Wonder if you'll need a zombie version and later "patch" again in this day and age biggrin

Do you need any PH'ers to scan in to be the fodder civilians?

If so, SHOTGUN!

Have a look at the kickstart page... if you pledge enough then this is one of the options! You can also pay more to be a driver!

I suppose that shows us who didn't scroll all the way down the page...

I'm in for $50. Carma (or maybe C2) was the first LAN game I played back when I was younger - there was no point playing Doom or anything like that because the LAN only consisted of 2 PCs, so the PvP rack up the score while flattening peds model really appealed!

I'm in!

I absolutely loved 1 & 2, so satisfying collecting an opponent just right and ramming them into the corner of a building, splitting them in half down the middle!

Maybe PH should do a front page story on this? Push a bit more traffic than a thread tucked away here in computer games.

I shall mention it to the wordsmiths though. I'd wager Riggers has dabbled at some point...

That would be Ace!

(And here's me thinking you might be telling him off for linking or something!) Hope PH can get behind this and help make it happen. smile

I think you should also spaff $2500 of your advertising budget on an in-game billboard. Haymarket will be ok with the pedestrian carnage, right?

I hope it goes well for ya OP, the Carma games were epic.

One thing though, please can you make the challenges / races less tedious? The game engine was great, but the handling very "arcade" - doing 10 laps of the point to point trial thing was more grind than fun IMO.

Also, IMO the "chance of salvage" version was more fun than the cash one - for cash you just end up grinding the powerups for 50k each, not racing around killing things. The original chance based thing meant you replayed for ages, and eventually got the right opponent, and with luck ended up with the car. Mechwarrior 2 was good for that, as well.

Oh, and don't let me buy it, or the wife will divorce me!

Thanks for all the fantastic positive comments guys. I'm about to bugger off on holiday for two-and-half weeks and will only have sporadic access to the 'net, so please forgive me if I go a bit off-and-on in replying to your questions.

Oh, and we were only having the "buy" vs "random chance of salvage" debate at work today! And yes, the salvage option came out on top.

Oh and we knew we cocked-up the missions in C2 bloody years ago. Sorry :-(

Yes, we thought this was hilarious. The Daily Hate gave us the hardest time of all back in the 90s, but this article couldn't have been better PR if we'd written it ourselves!

God I fking hate the Daily Mail so much. They should be removed from the press/internet entirely for their utter utter bullst articles.

Back on topic though- I'm so glad this game is coming back. I used to play Carmageddon so much back in the day. Looking at some videos it still looks great, considering how long ago the initial release was. I can't wait to see a 'next-gen' version. As long as it's just as fun, I'll be happy.

Are there any plans to borrow some ideas from the hundreds of awesome mods released for Carma 2 back in the day? I fondly remember a kind of destruction derby mod, with some random pedestrians walking on the track. Downloading the ~50mb zip file took me about a week using a download manager with my 56k connection. Worth it though.

C1 was and probably still is one of the best games in history. It had everything a driving game needed.
Even that weird 'wheelspin' button that acted a bit like a clutch.
