Carmageddon 2 was simply my favourite game of all time - played it exclusively for about 4 years following it's release. For me the best aspects were the stunts and what-not which could be performed by driving at high speed into obstacles and making the car flip/fly/spin in the most interesting way possible, BUT still land and be drivable. I'd then use the replay mode to capture clips of it, almost like a Hollywood movie stunt. I think the airport level was particularly good for this. Anyway, I saw the news story about the Kickstarter campaign over on El Reg yesterday: http://www.reghardware.com/2012/05/09/carmageddon_...I went and pledged $50. Very much looking forward to this.... PLEASE tell me there will be stunts and a replay mode? (The racing/running things over were secondary for me.)

Oh yes, don't worry, Reincarnation will (and in fact already is) very much more of the original, including the stunts, whacky powerups, and Action Replay. It already has me crying with laughter whilst developing it, which is either a good sign or further evidence of my own insanity. Probably both.
Of course if I gave you any details here, I would have to drive over to you and then drive over you, so I'll just have to be irritatingly obtuse at the moment. Keep an eye on Carmageddon.com though, as we'll be posting regular updates all the way through development.

Nice one, thanks for confirming. Assuming you make the kickstart total I think I'll get access to the beta info/forums/whatever, so looking forward to what you release as/when it comes out. Just been on ebay and bought Cama 2 and TDR 2000. Need to work out how to make them run on Win7 now. Still, will "keep me going" until the Ressurection lands! :-)

Please put TDR2000 in your microwave and zap it until it bursts into flames. We had NOTHING to do with that pile of crap. SCi asked us to do Carma 3 literally days after doing five months of seven day weeks of 16 hour days on Carma 2 and we said "Whoa there, hang on, let us have a breather first, please!". Next thing we knew, we saw the announcement in the trade press of TDR2000 being developed by somebody else (SCi had treated our verbal exclamation as formal first refusal to develop the sequel). Not my happiest day, I must admit.

Get pledging! Tell your friends! Tell your friends to tell their friends! Help us to get it back out their with out any of the crap I've just recounted about what SCi did to us (which believe me was just the tip of an iceberg that included us not receiving any bloody royalties). Independent developers FTW!

The GFX were better in TDR (as it was newer) but the rest of the game play was better in Carma 2 IMO. I actually remember playing TDR and being a little disappointed that it never really delivered on my expectations following Carma 2. But hopefully with that original team back in the "driving seat" we'll see a return to form in the latest incarnation?

Too damned right! Of the eight people that developed Carma 1, five of us are still here, including 3 of the 4 programmers (myself included). And the other bloke was crap anyway ;-)
We've also got additional bods from Carma 2 still working for us.
Even SCi eventually recognised that by separating Carma from Stainless, it completely lost its guts (literally). You can't just have another company take over something so unusual and surreal. They just didn't 'get' it.
As Nobby says in the Kickstarter video, "We've got our baby back!".

Excellent. I saw the bbc news story about Carmageddon 3 being on kickstarter, immediately bought in for $50 and headed here to post something on the forum! Very happy to discover one of the developers is a PHer - Carmageddon 2 is one of the greatest PC games of all time.

At the time of writing Carma 1 and 2 I was hugely active on the pre-Petrolheads TVR forums and then on the original Petrolheads (which then became Pistonheads). I actually wrote the Cerbera FAQ that is still floating around the 'net.
Lately though, I just don't seem to have time, hence my pitiful number of posts since re-registering a few years ago :-(
I must try harder.

My very good friend and housemate used to play and play and play Carma via serial cable on back to back to PCs on the dining room table. The hours we lost were incredible. We'd be back from work at 5.15pm, stick a pizza in the oven, get through a bottle of vodka (me) and numerous beers (Liszt) at Fox and Hounds each other constantly for 8 hours. Repeat ad nauseum. Although we would interchange with F1GP (Geoff Crammond's version). Now where's that link to contribute...or can I buy shares in the company instead?

Nice to hear :-) We kept playing LAN multiplayer (especially Fox 'n' Hounds) in the office for years after developing the game too - that's got to be a good sign, eh? The great thing is that the world has now caught up with us, and everybody is on-line. So most of our players will be able to enjoy multiplayer now, not just a select few. Oh and here's the URL again: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stainlessgames...

Not that I can afford it, but in terms of the big money pledges what extra would UK based people get? We wouldn't need the flights...

Interesting question! Maybe I'd come and pick you up in the Tuscan. Includes free change of underwear.
