You haven't got a filter combo setup wrong in commander have you?
I've started on a new Epoch server last week (UK130). One before that had dick admins. Today I couldn't get in as player count was 49/50 and last slot was a reserved one. Just looking now and player count is 61/92 ]: D Looks like it's getting to be a good one.
I've almost got enough gold for a safe, then I'll start on a base, so if anyone wants to team up again just let me know. Should be able to sort you out with TS accounts on the Eve server for comms.
The Epoch server me and my friend are on, we are very polite to one of the admins.I've started on a new Epoch server last week (UK130). One before that had dick admins. She gave us 2 safes, 9 Briefcases of gold and some 10oz gold bars for free!
Just had a good few hours on it.
Read people are having problems with bugs and low fps, mines been fine and its really smooth, much better than the mod.
Found alot of gear and had a play with an M4, found my way with a compass to NWAF and then died in the first hangar from food/drink poisoning or something!

Only noticed this morning that alpha has been released, I thought the clips on YouTube were the well known guys being given special access or something... so think it's worth giving a go for 20 quid even if it's not too stable/fast yet.
hopefully we might get enough people off here to all play together again, as that was great

The problem I've seen so far, from the several YouTubers I've watched play, is that every server seems to be in darkness. Apparently all the servers are defaulted to Central European Time (Which is GMT+1) so all of us here to work during the day then play at night will be stuck playing at night.
I haven't played a night server for a long time now; they are fun in their own way but I'm sure we'd all rather see the game in daylight.
Has anyone managed to get in there during the day yet?

Not me - got a half day on Friday so will give it a go then. I also took the plunge on Nether this morning and grabbed about 5 mins of play on there. Not enough to get a real sense but first impressions were very positive. Looks great and controls were very smooth (in direct contrast to the current alpha of DayZ)
Long way to go on both clearly but I don't mind funding a bit of game development (so says my Kickstarter profile at least!)

We had a similar problem when playing the mod and finding there was no way to alter game time independently of server time when the host was set to that.
You could only play for an hour in the evening before it was dark in game, or at weekends. It was ok when you all had NVGs but often borders on pointless otherwise when there was no moonlight (sometimes it was way darker than others).

Yea it looks good! I haven't played a night server for a long time now; they are fun in their own way but I'm sure we'd all rather see the game in daylight.

I've seen people complaining about super low FPS but I think they are trying to play on high settings. I have a mid range PC and I just put most things to low and it is really smooth and lag free. It still looks good as well.
I spent a few hours on it yesterday afternoon, and I'm impressed with things visually. The clothing, inventory and improvements to the map are very good and I look forward to seeing how it develops.
Now I know it's an Alpha, but in those few hours I was playing me and my mate had done all that the game could offer at this stage - get to NWAF, gear up with an M4 and good clothes, and that's it. Once we'd done that we did the only thing that was left to do and that was to head back to the coast and start shooting bambi's; not something I'd normally do.
That'll change as the game develops though, so I'll just keep an eye on the updates and come in and out of the game as that happens.

I'm enjoying it! It is great to be back in DayZ, very few bugs compared to the last time I played DayZ Mod, no hacks (so far...) and I do enjoy it being back to basics. Survival and scavenging are both much more interesting than in Mod, but it is far too easy to do currently.
Graphics are fantastic; not as good as Arma 3 but much better lighting and models than DayZ Mod and it runs super smooth for me compared to Arma 2 or Arma 3.

Agree with everything above. Now I know it's an Alpha, but in those few hours I was playing me and my mate had done all that the game could offer at this stage - get to NWAF, gear up with an M4 and good clothes, and that's it. Play it for a few hours yesterday, found a daylight server, got a weapon and just wondered about aimlessly for a while.
Heading north I was more lucky finding a store and some food/drink. Whatever is up with the loot spawning and lack of zombies I read will be fixed. Found zombies a bit easier due to the more normal movement now, but the hit detection with melee weapons seems very iffy.
Will be good to see how things develop over the next few months. From what I seen they have sold enough so far that they've got no excuse for not putting enough time and resources into it to make it really polished, fast and reliable.
