This looks absolutely right up my street, I've been hooked on watching the video's on youtube since reading this thread.

Can anyone advise what I might need to spend to get myself a decent machine to run this (and possibly BF3 too). I'm on a mac and from a bit of light reading it's just not worth trying, even with my i7 processor & 16gig RAM.

£500 ish?

Thanks in advance.

Im downloading ARMA 2:CO now and will have myself set up by tomorrow night and onto it. Looks a good game and really do want to see how ARMA plays as I'm very interested in ARMA 3 as well. Rumour is this will be ported across.

Either way - this mod looks really good and I'm looking forward to getting in and killing some survivors. Maybe get some regular PH'ers on the game onto a regular server choice (UK?). Much better to work as a team from what I've been seeing.

Would love to play this but the PC will soon be going so I wont be spending big to run it, shame. I wish it would be made into a console game, we know sandbox MMO's can be done as we had test drive. Wouldn't need to be much more advanced, just some more items to loot and look out for and a few odd bits to keep you busy. No need to clutter it with a storyline/plot or missions just expend on whats there already. I'd pay £20-£30 for that.

Avoiding other people works well for me in this game, last night the first 2 people I saw both shot at me on sight (killed the first guy but the second killed me in 1 shot). Tonight I am more than 3 hours in with full health and loads of decent gear, coincidentally not seen a single (still breathing) person .. Also cooking meat is definitely the way to go to restore blood if you have the gear, blood bags are too risky if you have to trust a random. I think you get 8 pieces of meat from a cow and each one restores 800 blood after you cook it. Would be useful if you could kill animals without shooting them though.

p.s. hardcore servers are much better IMO (no crosshairs, first person only)

I cant see arma 2 making it onto consoles...I had to take a day off work to remap my key bindings biggrin
pretty much everything on the keyboard does something...and then you have ctrl, shift and alt..
of course you dont need all that to play a zombie mod...

Well - ARMA is on my computer and the mod downloaded. I just need to get up onto version 1.7 and then I'm good to go - despite downloading my .rar files today they are outdated!

Any preferred server I may be likely to see you guys on?

Slightly off topic but I watched The Road last night and even though it's not a zombie film it feels very much like DayZ in it's tone and look, plus the humans are mostly quite unfriendly.

Post uk which server you choose and I will try and join the same one. The 'uk' servers are usually pretty good

I've got the updated component swapped across - just need to get onto the game and test after work. I will update here where I'm planning on being. Perhaps we could have a Vent/Skype/TS/Mumble server going and chat in their for some co-ordination?

Should be on later tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

I'm thinking of swapping servers when it gets dark. Got to run the ARMA tutorial to brush up on it though. Get myself the CZ rifle and camp away haha!

Started playing this, It is extremely difficult. Learnt pretty quickly too avoid the zombies rather than shoot them. At one point I was camped out on some island looking on too a village at night and seen a Flare go off next too a building.
I then thought I seen someone crawling around in prone so decided to go say hi... I didnt realise some of the zombies flopped around on there stomachs after you.

That didn't end well.

I have updated to the latest arma beta patch and I have to say, what an improvement!
FPS and loading times have both improved in orders of magnitude!

am still a noob though found an mp5 the other day and got shot on the spot by some , fired off SIX shots into him and he lived. he fired one at me...

Am very much up for some coop action, though my face is now that of a bandit, I killed 2 guys last night that would not respond to my hails..

mixed feelings on this.

There seems to be very little player cooperation - ive only met one friendly player so far - everyone else has taken pot shots at me.

zombies dont seem to be an issue if you stay crouched and move slowly.

If you look like getting cornered by zombies then use a flare or smoke grenade - they quite like those and will go investigate them.

hardcore servers seem best because no crosshairs - makes shooting people other than at short range more difficult so the plonkers from bf3 etc arent the same problem.

meat available from sheep and pigs as well.

I'm on UK101 if anyone is online today. Need to go get myself some reasonable weapons today! Had a Lee Enfield last night from Cherno - and died shortly after when I engaged 3 people that hadn't even seen me. AND they seemed friendly from chat! Nevermind though. I'm enjoying it so far.

ETA - UK101 again
