That really does sound very impressive and that there will be much more to hold your interest after you have had enough of the main story. Reading between the lines and noting some of the language used, I doubt very much that we will see it in spring 2013. I suspect that it is still quite some time off yet. Maybe I'm wrong, I hope that I am. I won't be holding my breath.

No shocker the map is going to be bigger than IV which, OK wasn't huge it was big enough, bigger than Red Dead - OK traveling by horseback might make it seem bigger than it is. Bigger than, SA ok I haven't played it in years, but I remember it being seriously HUGE, - but Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit son - bigger than all three COMBINED that's something else all together.
The 3 leads thing has plently of chances to be crap, but you'd bet on them making it work.
So glad the heist thing is going to be big, big multi-stage armed robbery levels are always much better than "take 2 hookers to the police ball" "steal a hard to find car" "take some dude to play darts".
I know it's only a game, but it's going to be THE game of next year and possibly any year.

only got it myself earlier this week, it's awesome!So excited for GTA 5, haven't been this excited for a game since.... GTA 4!
and San andreas, I remember when that came out. I was only 12 but I got it a day before release being a bit sneaky with Gameplay. I ordered one of their *top up* cards under my dads DOB, wacked £40 on it at the Post Office I had been saving, and prayed.
Best memories are from GTA. such a big part of my childhood. Who needs books?

It sounds insane. Bigger than SA, GTAIV and Red dead combined? What? I didn't expect that. SA had 3 cities in it IIRC!
I didn't predict the 3 protagonists too, but it makes sense. I really enjoyed GTAIV from different perspectives and they are right about the city seemingly completely different from a different characters POV. I wonder if we'll get another one or 2 via DLC?
GTA games always have high expectations and I think Rockstar know this so pull out everything they can. I almost hope the 3 characters don't get too involved in one another though as from the sounds of it, having to chose between perspectives live must miss out a lot of the game play. The example of being a sniper vs holding a hostage vs a helicopter pilot all at the same time. I'm sure they'll put a lot of thought into it, (maybe even prompts to view the scenarios from another perspective). But I don't want to miss out on some potentially good parts through being in the wrong perspective.

Most of the time, when R* announce a release time/date, it will be released then.
