Tech demo mods don't work in the full game unfortunately. It has changed too much apparently.Look what I found

I bought this last night and played it for an hour or so, and its nice to see the tech demo being fleshed out with the missions and bigger / varied maps. I'm saddened to hear that by moving onto a new map it wipes your progress on the previous one, but I'm sure that'll be fixed in the future, it is after all a beta.
My gripe would still be the camera, which is a real pig to deal with a lot of the time, and apparently I can't remap the controls either, which is irritating but again I expect it to be fixed sometime. I've been using my gamepad and there's no default button for the winch there, so its been awkward to winch and drive at the same time, what with crossed hands and all.
Overall though I'm happy with my purchase, and I'm sure it'll only get better. I'm very surprised that the Steam download was only 600Mb though!

Has anyone else noticed that you can get into a situation where your front wheel appears to disappear under the ground and feels like it's caught on something but it can't ever be sorted out? It's happened twice to me, and both times going forward and backwards tend to do the opposite to what you'd expect and no amount of winching it out makes any difference at all even when all the other wheels come out of the mud.
Aside from that it's fantastic. Loved it when I got the garage truck (big arctic) stuck trying to cross some water. Jumped in the massive 6 wheeler one and drove down and it towed it out like it weighted absolutely nothing

I agree about the camera, a right royal pain.

I'm finding the first coastal 'mission' is way too hard, I can't even reveal the map never mind deliver a load. S13_Alan said:

Yes, I've experienced that with the little 'jeep', both times trying to winch back onto a road.Edited by Martin4x4 on Sunday 15th June 10:08
In the end I just installed Windows using Bootcamp when I used my iMac for games. Found that though stuff worked sometimes in VMware it really wasn't worth the bother, and it's what I'd do straight away if ever I had to again. VMs are ok if you're doing office work but anything graphically intensive or gaming you'd be better running it natively.

You need to head north, up the west side of the map in the UAZ to get the 6 wheeler, then bring it back to the garage and fit the non-highway wheels. That truck will now go pretty much anywhere on the map.
The route I used was to pick up lumber from the camp, then head south through the garage, follow a track to the east, over the river (which can be tricky) then there's a section of highway. Follow that for a bit to the east then take another dirt track along the coast to the lumber yard to the south east.

Without wanting to derail the thread too much... is it literally a case of download bootcamp and create a partition for Windows to use and then install Windows on it?If so, I might give it a go!
Ive got an early 2011 MBP with 8GB RAM and a 2.0ghz i7 with 512MB Intel 3000 graphics

Yes it's that easy! If so, I might give it a go!

Then on starting up you'll be able to hold a key down (can't recall which) and choose between Windows or OS X.
If you ever want to undo the whole thing it's just as simple to remove the partition and get your space back.

Just seen an email from Amazon says it should arrive today, probably won't be until the weekend before I can have a proper go though
I assume you do the same objectives in multiplayer? Surely much easier with a buddy to ram you up the.. hill?

Gave up on coastal I just cannot find a route across the river; the obvious route will lots of tracks is too deep for even the big logging truck.
Switched to plains and making good progress. Looks like the default mission order isn't graded very well.
I didn't have a problem, just drove straight through, and I was dragging the UAZ with my winch at the same time too!Switched to plains and making good progress. Looks like the default mission order isn't graded very well.

Mighty obvious question but are you in AWD with your diff locks on?Switched to plains and making good progress. Looks like the default mission order isn't graded very well.

Have just given this an hour of play, it has huge potential to be one of my top 10 games. But that fking camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaargh!!!!!!!
Was disappointed to hear they hadn't sorted it, to me a lot of the time in the tech demo it just needed to have some zoom control. It's an odd positioning they have for it, kind of like over the shoulder shooter games and that always feels odd to me.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
