Is tyre wear and fuel use turned on as a default in the career by the way?
What y2blade said is correct if you set it nice and easy then there will be no tyre wear and fuel loads...
I set it to 2nd hardest difficulty when I started it so think it does have tyre wear. I'm going to lower the fuel amount for a race and see if I run out hehe
Or just use engine map 3 from the start...you'll soon find out biggrin
How do I change engine maps in a race by the way? Can't find how to do it.

I did finally get my 1st 2 poles and 1st race win last night in the Force India (not done the 2nd race yet, it was 9oclock and wheeler dealers was on hehe Think it might be time to up the difficult level to legend by the end of the season, just want to learn the tracks and how to drive the cars for now.

Just noticed its out, ive not played the ps3 in months. I only really go on it when I cant get out on the bike in the winter.

Is it worth the £40 for it over f1 2011?

As i said im not a big games fan so I would only be playing it a few times a month.

Use the d-pad buttons for the "on the fly" menu.

have a look in the key configuration menu if you get stuck.

I paid £30 in supermarket.
I never had F1 2011..but it is miles better than F1 2010.

on Xbox, I do have a PS3 but PSN is a nightmare so I only use it for games that aren't multi-platform like GT5 for example.

Sorted it last night smile

Finally remembered that there was a d-pad doing seemingly nothing in the game hehe

Well an update from me...

I have just about got to grips with the understeer, and all is now good. I can string some decent laps together now.

The AI on the other cars seems better too, a bit more challenging and you can get some nice close racing going on without the AI cars getting crashy!

Tyre wear and fuel use seem better too, as does clean/dirty/cold/hot tyres.

Use the arrow pad to change fuel, tyre choice at pitstop and brake balance.

So, thumbs up from me and my son.

I use the microsoft wireless force feedback wheel, with manual gears, and no TC and ABS. I like to try and keep it 'true to real life'.

Got this last night. Have only gone as far as completing the new driver tests (got a gold and a bronze).

First impressions are that it is an improvement over the last few F1 games. The cars seem more planted to the ground, and it already looks like it'll be an easier game to plat on a pad.

Graphics and sound are better. Can't really say much more than that.

Oh yes, I did do one quick quali lap and the first four laps of Albert Park. Had the AI on the lowest setting. Qualified 18th and was up to fourth place before I exited the game. Did that just to get an idea of the difficulty level that I need. I'll be knocking it up a level before playing again.

Finally, anybody know of a good wheel for the XBox? I know MS stopped making their official one. Are there any newer ones out? What are the wireless speed wheels like?

Thanks.

I had a shocker last night round Barcelona. Crashed at the 1st corner after being spun round then spent the rce trying to hard and putting it in the gravel once or twice more. Season so far - 20th, 2nd, 1st, 1st, and now on pole for Monaco biggrin

Sounds like you've got the difficulty on too easy!

Agreed, although it is possible to win or get 2nd place, but that is mighty hard work! I finished 2nd in Albert Park driving a Williams on Legend difficulty (having ABS and TCS on full as I use a pad), but I spent all race defending from much faster cars (my best lap was a 1:31 something and Hamilton did a 1:28). It is alot more unforgiving than 2011, the back end is too keen too snap out, but it is possible to save it unless it happens in the wet.

I do recommend starting on Legend difficulty, as by the time you are in a better car, you'll also be driving better so it won't be as challenging. in F1 2011, I won the championship in the first season with Force India on Pro AI setting (winning 14 races) but the next season in a Mclaren I was going 3 seconds a lap or so faster, so won all 13 races until I started playing online for more of a challenge.

If someone's looking for some online action, I may be on later tonight, my PSN is HH killer (don't ask, sh*t username). I may add some PH'ers too.

I have a speed wheel which is a great compromise (over having a propper wheel with pedals). Most of the time if I just want a quick fix of f1 or forza I reach for the speed wheel, it is great!

I got an as new condition MS force feedback wheel in box with instructions and all for £50 from my local game exchange place. It is great, but obviously a faf to setup and store.

.... or the rear is going to step out then surely you need a mix around with the words and you should have said; learn how to handle your arse when you get it out. (not in a gay way)

Apologies, tiredness and boredom are taking over! hehe
