Tempted but waiting for a polarised review, all those I've read so far have been a bit wishy washy. Hopefully zero punctuation will get their hands on it and we'll get a clear viewpoint.

Token link in case you've never seen their reviews - amazing

RPS liked it; which is usually a good sign.

I enjoyed the demo; I expect I'll be picking this one up.

Why O why did I swap my Tesco preorder (who generally get stuff to me on a Thursday) for Sainsburys for the sake of saving a couple of quid? Doh.

It turns out Sainsburys don't post before Thursday, and aim to get it to you for release date. Arse.

Getting a bit further into this. I had an escort mission (Casey Ryback, John McClane, Ethan Hunt and Big Diesel) had to rescue a woman trapped by aliens. I almost completely screwed it up when I moved her to 1 within square of the extraction zone as she couldn't move any further so I assumed that was the exit. It wasn't, I had to wait a turn, her completely out in the open, hoping she wasn't killed.

I'm not missing the action point system. It forces you to decide what you want to do and commit to it. No walking up to cover and poking out, taking a shot and popping back into cover. I think you need to think about your strategy more and slowly advance from cover to cover. It can feel tense at times not knowing where the aliens are.

The base also looks great. You don't really have full control over the base building and what research you can carry out at the start but I think that's just because I'm still in the fairly long tutorial section. I've tried building stuff and been told it's locked out due to being in the tutorial. I think it will be great once I've advanced past that and have full control.

If you want full control from the start put it on a difficulty above normal as it says it skips the tutorial section which I presume drops you straight into the thick of it leaving you to your devices as far as base building etc goes.

I'm loving it so far. It's great and almost exactly what I wanted an X-Com remake to be smile

I think I've missed something but can someone explain how to run time on ? Say I want to advance a day. How do I do this, do I have to scan for activity to advance the clock in chunks ?

Just got another cool mission. Had to defuse a bomb that was going to go off within so many moves while fighting aliens, with nodes that you could destroy scattered around to give an extra turn.

Missions like could this could be really good once the difficulty ramps up!

Also built a containment unit but haven't managed to capture an alien alive yet.

So far my best soldier is Boggy B, a sniper with 9 kills and a perk so that he can target enemies that any other squad members can see and a bonus when enemies are at a lower elevation. Still him on a roof top and leave him in overwatch and he picks off stuff as it moves.

I'm about to lose Nigeria, panic'y fools. Obviously the aliens aren't interested in their banking scams.

Got my first alien captured alive, a sectoid. You've got to get really close to stun them.

Entire squad lost.

I just got massacred. I also messed up having satellites in places I can't intercept.

I'm starting over from scratch. The difficulty ramps up like crazy!

Tips: Get engineers. Build satellite up links, build satellites.

I've just finished watching that. From everything I've seen it looks great overall.

Anyone else waiting on Steam hoping that it does the unlocking it thing at the right time so they can have a go before they gotta go to bed? haha
