The Bee was a ridiculous item that just about completely broke the balance of the game; it's quite right that it's been nerfed.
No one was holding a gun to your head and forcing you to use it. I thought it was an interesting gameplay item that made the game a lot more fun, it's a shame they nerfed it. If they thought it was so necessary to nerf it, they should be embarrassed that they let it into the game in the first place. Immediately thinking it was such a bad idea just goes to show that it slipped through the net because they didn't have their eye on the ball in the first place.EDLT said:
The problem was the way The Bee worked with shotguns, and in particular the conference call. It was never supposed to apply the bonus to each pellet.
Yes, ok. Granted on that one. EDLT said:
It still works quite well with rapid fire weapons.
It would do, only they have added a delay to it. So even though it says the drain is zero it's more like a normal Amp shield with a tiny drain. On an SMG with a fire rate of 8 or so, you only get the Bee sound every 4th or 5th shot. Well just beat the warrior ,first attempt using a level 31 commando with about 5 unspent skill points...truly gutted how easy that was ,no exploit or anything just plugged away at him for a while ,didn't have any meg weapons either as I've used no golden keys ,really disappointing boss battle ,was expecting a lot of hard work and lots of deaths .

Yes, The Warrior is a bit easy. But if you want instant death then go fight Terramorphous. I gave up on that one. Right, that's it. I'm not playing this stupid game any more. I just died on wave 6/7 of the final round of Hyperion Slaughter and have to start the round all over again.
This game is so weighed towards co-operative play. At least when we had The Bee you stood half a chance in Solo mode. Now you don't.

The Bee still works, it just doesn't turn the conference call into a "one shot, twelve kills" weapon. Use Dahl and Vladof machine guns/assault rifles, SMGs, pistols, or sniper rifles. If you are using Axton then BUY TORGUE.
Mr Torgue's Campaign of Carnage DLC comes out tomorrow, probably at 6pm. It features a new currency, Torgue tokens, that are used on special vending machines that have legendary weapons as weapon of the day.

The Bee still works
After a fashion. Whilst I agree that it makes sense to change all Amp shields, including The Bee, to divide the amp effect by the number of projectiles, where I think they went too far was massively cutting the amp effect. The Bee is now a rather weak shield with an above-average Amp effect. Here's mine, before and after...
Also "Amp Shot Drain 0" is now a lie; you don't get the Amp effect on each shot any more.
Is that a shield you've picked up post patch or an older one?
My old shields have a delay between shots but it is fractions of a second, my sniper rifle has a fire rate of 5.5 and every shot gets amped. It still does a massive amount more damage than any other amp shield, a reduction of 10,000 damage is bugger all too - it still gives a 40,000 point bonus.
The end game is still playable.

The two pics are of the same shield. I happened to take a pic of The Bee pre-patch and took another tonight post-patch. That is a direct "before and after" comparison of the same shield. Also, when I use an SMG with a fire rate of around 9.0 with The Bee, only every 6th shot or so is Amped. Before it was every one.

I've started playing Borderlands 2, as I gradually catch up with gaming things from over a generation ago. I love it! What an excellent, fun, hilarious, challenging, addictive game. It's taking me hours and hours because I am rubbish and terrible at games, but I've eked my way up to level 16 soloing as Maya - I can almost imagine I'll never play any other games and just spend the balance of my life looking for orange guns.

I have 569 hours in borderlands 2 and I would quite happily start a new game at any time, It is just that good.J-D-Stagpump said:
I play on pc and it tells you in your games library when you select the game.
Strictly speaking, it tells you how many hours the game has been *running*. On games with checkpoints, rather than actual save games, I tend to leave them running, paused and minimised, rather than pressing on to the next checkpoint. Especially on games like Borderlands where all respawns reset upon reload. That's why Steam thinks I played 145 hours of Singularity when I don't think it is in any way possible to eke it out to that on a single play-through, despite the time-travel elements.
But I digress.
