Bloody hell, further on to my previous post about how my bullets seem to be made of marshmallows ,I paid close attention to the kill cams to see what was going on and frankly it was staggering.

1) in every instance where I was making the first shots and making hits (crosshair flashing etc) to little effect watching the kill cam was enlightening...simply they were getting the first hits in and they werent getting hit despite what was happening on my screen.

it gets worse...

2) puzzled how I was getting shot by someone when I have made cover to reload after an exchange of shots, for example having to reload in a firefight, runing into the building and getting shot through the building ,at first I thought fmj bullet penetration etc ..but watching the kill cam was astonishing,in the kill cams I wasnt getting in cover, for example where on my screen I had run into the house before being shot ,the kill cam reveals me being killed before I run into the house

basically what is happening on my screen bears no relation to what seems to be happening on the server, having played these types of games for 20+ years I am used to lag issues and the like ,but this is ridiculous.

This video does a good job of illustrating just how different each scenario is when viewed from the host and the client:

the lag comp does seem absolutely ridiculous. its weird how you never had this in cod4 etc, ok back then there was the host advantage, but to try and solve this they put in artificial lag. which just means now everybodys pissed off. the character you shoot at on screen bares no resemblence to what your supposed to be shooting, their hitboxs could be a half second behind, off to the side, infront of what you see. then theyres the classic curvy bullets that go round corners where on your screen you made it round the corner only to find on their screen you werent.

i think the maps amplify the lag. remember back to cod4 and mw2 days, remember how much bigger and open the maps were now all you have is some small congested maps with corners and doorways everywhere, the game is much more fast paced now especially since the smg's are the dominant gun, so you always seem to be in close quarter fights where the lag becomes noticable. and you never got spawn killing, camping in cod4 etc because how big the maps were. now on the likes of hijacked you get sentry gun on spawns etc. the spawns flip like mad so you run one side of the map to find the enemy is now behind you.

people moaned about mw3 connections, treyarch must of buried there head in the sand then decided to make it worse

I'm enjoying the mutliplayer. Maybe as much as I did WaW, the last 'amazing' online COD experience before this one.

The singleplayer is fantastic. Great story, and for once a proper bad guy, not just some faceless goon like Makarov. Fantastic settings, great action and it very rarely mis-steps. I'm just doing an intel/veteran run at the moment.

I know there is a tendency to look at the original Modern Warfare with rose tinted glasses, but this is ridiculous. I remember on maps like Pipeline, campers could set up shop and often be untouchable. Camping was a bigger issue then than it is now, particularly as the maps have been designed to make camping far less rewarding.

Just finished the story missions on veteran today, grabbing all the intel along the way. Not hard at all, most levels can be breezed through. Still great fun to play, but I do yearn for a properly difficult veteran experience again, not seen since World at War!

I think it is ok, if you do not like campers, play kill confirmed as you need to retrieve their tags to get your points.

Hardcore Kill Confirmed is IMHO the best game mode by a mile.

I get cheesed off with all the lag and crappy aiming as I get lumped into French lobbies most of the time (I live in France) but seem to always be at a massive disadvantage to my opponents.
It is getting that bad that I only play a couple of games and call it quits at any session.

Try changing the game search options to "any" (I think its the blue button on the find match screen)

I live in a remote corner of Australia and because the first criteria it looks for is geographic location, followed by connection speed (Aussie broadband is crap) I was rarely getting into a decent lag free game.

With it set to "any" I find that whilst there are occasional very laggy matches, on the whole it's a lot better.
