In 'squishable' towns they eventually turn up, but just keep scrolling through towns squishing until one shows up straight away. Then click on it. That's definitely not right. I just counted, in 30% of the SFs I just visited UFOs appear in the time it takes me to squish 3. Maybe I'll be luckier tomorrow.
They even appear in towns that haven't done the update.
So maybe you haven't finished some of the Questline first?

Not really, but try and save up all your GremAliens and dump them on neighbours at night so they don't get squished. I manage to collect over 100 probes a night using that method One of the people in my friends list has hit 16k+ probes already! I'm at 5400, need to hit 8050 to get the Donut torture device!!

It keeps resetting.If you click on the do it it takes you out to any kids who have completed their tasks.
When you've got them all waiting for something to do click on it again and it takes you out to one, send them trick or treating and away you go.
If in the process it cycles past 10/10 then just resets. A bit superfluous if you're paying attention.
Have let this lapse a couple of days God knows how many probes you buggers have nicked off me
