Got an error on the first run through to update to the latest release, quitting and running the Launcher as Administrator seemed to resolve it, looks like a permission related error "Exception updating file "long\ass\file\path\object.ovl"; Cannot create file when that already exists." Thought this might be useful info for anyone else who experiences the same!

tbh I'm amazed how many people are willing to just dive in and risk all the work they've put in to their cmdr file.
My Viper is going to be a lot less potent with the changes. Shame as it was quite profitable with such low running costs.
Lots of bad press at the moment, but I just find the game really absorbing. I hate supercruise but battling with Anacondas and Pythons is great fun.

I'm currently 7000 LY from inhabited space in a hauler with 70% hull, I've not played for a week as I was waiting on long range plots(rift play with 125 LY plots was frustrating), now I'm not playing because of random ship destruction reports. I don't mind bugs in games but it's mighty frustrating when you have to not play a game because a bug could banjax weeks of careful play in one hit.
I could accept losing a day or two of bounties, but 7000 LY of system surveys is different, there isn't a cash it in point until you return so yet again CMDR Fractious sits in limbo until the game is stable enough for me to play.

Reading up on the interesting collision mechanics, will wait until those are fixed before going near this update....
What's annoying is that the betas reported this a while ago, and it's apparently not fixed and 1.1 was released. Also it sounds like the beta testing takes place in a sandbox environment rather than letting the betas play in their own instance with their own ships in the dynamic universe. If that's the case then at this point its not unreasonable to expect the (unpaid) betas to be playing with their own accounts in the main game.
Braben's not got the best reputation for software assurance and 1.1 just reinforces that.
Agree, however I've waited 25+ years for this, so happy to hold off while they smooth things.
Main concern, as others have highlighted is the lack of a 'revert to save' function, that means that having invested significant time in the last couple of months, this could be lost due to bugs glitches...
..anyway, fingers crossed, and lets have faith....

Finally got a cobra III after a week of trading.
So what to do with it? More trading. Nah.
Going to go and shoot stuff.
Some advice though please. Those missions on the bulletin board worth 130000 credits for assassinating. Are they difficult? Will the target be heavily armed? Will I die in a giant fireball?
Thanks

Yes, yes, and yes.Thanks
9 times out of 10 they will be a heavily armed Anaconda that will open fire as soon as you are in range. Very hard to take out with a smaller ship.
One tactic for taking on bigger ships is to target their power supply. If this goes to 0% then the ship explodes, often with as much as 40% hull left. Very useful if you have gimballed weapons that can target a specific subsystem.

Lol. Looks like I'll be taking on small fry missions then or hanging around to do some bounty hunting for sport. 9 times out of 10 they will be a heavily armed Anaconda that will open fire as soon as you are in range. Very hard to take out with a smaller ship.

I've been killing Anacondas in my Viper, and last night I got interdicted by an NPC Python whilst in my Viper, and I toasted him too (and that's with one of my beam lasers turned off due to the power changes to Shield Banks). Thanks
Providing you have a well equipped ship, you should be alright. A fully spec'd Viper should run about 2.5 million credits. A Cobra would be around 7.5 million.
The patch worked fine for me, I even had my first docking collision (cobra vs type 9) and didn't explode, which was nice. Less stuttering in SC, sound improved, though I had more stuttering in hyperspace last night. And the docking markers don't keep disapearing.
I noticed that the bounty transaction screen has changed. I ended up with two claims in factions which don't have a station. So I had 40K bounty in Empire, then about 6 in each of Iota Hydri <faction 1> and Iota Hydri <faction 2>. There are 4 factions in the system, but only two stations; an Empire Pact one and Iota Hydri <faction 3>. I'm not overly bothered as it's only a few 1000, and have now moved on, but I couldn't see how I could claim those bounties anywhere.
Not sure but it may be that the bounty mechanics have changed - I got 9K for a Cobra, which is rather less than usual, but I didn't actually kill it - myself and an NPC were attacking it and the NPC got the kill. Before I don't think I'd have got anything in that case. So maybe now it's based on a percentage of the damage caused?

Did a bit of an experiment today as I had the day off work. I was running my Asp with 4x E1 Gimballed Beam lasers and 2x D2 Gimballed Cannons. The lasers are very quick to strip most things of shields, but I was quite disappointed with the range and accuracy of the cannons. Don't get my wrong, when they strike home they're devastating but it's quite easy to miss and then they won't fire again for a few seconds.
Anyway, I've now swapped to 2x D2 Gimballed Beam Lasers and 4x E1 Fragment Cannons and the difference is huge. The D2 Beams are about the same at stripping the shields off but the fragment cannons are a massive step up. You have to be at close range as there's a spread on the shells but I managed to kill a Cobra in around 6-8 seconds and the Hauler who had the temerity to interdict me was dealt with in even less
So, looking forward to the wings update now when we could do some proper Escort missions!
