Is there a way of finding where to collect bounties from? I have a 40k credit bounty to collect from Silver Federals but no idea where to go cry
Reading the latest updates you can take the bounty to any station held by the same faction.

1.1.04 patch said:
1.1.04 has gone live - the servers are up and running.

Client changes:
- Bounty vouchers can be redeemed at any starport in a system that also contains the faction which issued the bounty.
Thanks, now I just need to remember where I got it hehe

Having taken a break whilst waiting for 1.1 and it's 1000 LY plotting update, I've got a fair bit of stick time in in the last couple of days.
Finally made it out to the Bubble Nebula and our neighbouring spiral arm, so I'm come back down that one and looking to hop over when level with populated space, all told it's about a 15,000 :Y trip and I've been to almost 2000 systems, hopefully I'll get me name in lights on a few (The Bubble had already been spammed).

On my way between the Elephant's Trunk and the Bubble Nebula I spotted this floating glass of wine, it's an omen I thought so cracked open a bottle of St. Emilion and carried on...

About 1500 LY out the Bubble Nebula starts to become a feature of the night sky.

1000 LY out.

Almost there...

That's no moon!

Came for the sights, can't see anything now, time to go home!

Found this little beauty on the way out, 8 rings and bunch of high metals should be worth 80k+ on it's own, I scanned the lot.

Also found a few Earth likes that should be worth a few, but only if I make it back in one piece, down to 11% hull due to the game not accepting my throttle inputs for a moment, only 3500LY or about 140 jumps to go...

Well just spent several hours mining. BORING! What a waste of time frown Very little money to be made for the effort involved.

I think it would improve with a tractor beam to grab the chunks but as it is, really, why would anyone do this?

Trading's bad enough, can't imagine spending the same hours mining. Grinding credits in a Type 6 at the moment for an Asp, think I'll need about 8-10 million on top of purchase cost to kit it out adequately. I do have a 7 million A rated Cobra I could put towards it but I'd like to keep that as a fall back.

There seems to be a wider margin for Elite combat ratings in terms of money as someone else gained Master for about 7.5 million and then got to Dangerous for 24.5 million, though you can't see his assassinations for Dangerous rating.

I quite enjoyed it early on smile Need to find a pristine metalic belt though really. And yeah, it doesn't scale at all.
I quite like the flying around thing, if you just tractored them up then that really would be boring. Isn't flying the ship kind of the point?

I've managed to find myself some money in the Yembo system doing the community goals.

Leave the station, fly to the nearest RES and kill Cr200,000 worth of pirates and then jump to a near by system exporting metals. Load up and fly back to Yembo and cash in both bounties and metals. Made my first million yesterday in five runs. Going to stick at it even after the community goal ends tomorrow as I've got my sights set on an ASP.

How are you guys earning money? I made enough to buy a Cobra MkIII and have earned another 100k since but it's so slow going. Seems you need the dedication of a second job to get anywhere in this, its so fking tedious and pedantic at times. I love the idea of piloting my own starship but god the game does its best to suck the fun out of that experience.

Only way to do it really is to find a decent trade route, write off a week of your life and blitz it until your eyes go square; then retire to a happy life of bounty hunting and exploring smile

I'd suggest having a look around the neighbourhood of high tech worlds. Note down the prices of gold, progenitor cells, platinum, imperial slaves, stuff like that. Sadly you can't copy and paste the damn data.

Rares and luxury traders are the shortcuts, a good system will come up from time to time.
Agreed!

Can I suggest an alternative trading tool, which I believe is more flexible and comprehensive than the websites I have seen so far - Slopey's Best Price Calculator:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=760...

Given the present lack of an API to export commodity data from the game to external programs, all the data Slopey's BPC uses is crowdsourced; so if you choose to use it, it would benefit all other users (as well as your own trading) if you contribute to the database to keep it updated. EliteOCR (which converts screenshots of the Commodity Market table into the appropriate database format) is the easiest and quickest way to do so:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=687...

I have no affiliation with either program, just a happy user.

When it asks you if you want it to search for the logs, answer no and point it to them manually.

I select the Log folder and nothing happens, it thinks I'm in "unknown".

Probably the wrong log folder - needs to be (something like) "Frontier_Developments\Pr oducts\FORC-FDEV-D-xxxx\Logs" the other log folder's a red herring. wink

I'm in Tellus (Ahern base) at the moment - doing a triangle of Land Enhancers to Key gate in LP 377-69 (off the top of my head - it's 13.4 light years away) - mix of agricultual goods/beer/wine to Le gare (French sounding base in same system) a mix becuse frequently get a board request for one of the mix. Then Gold back to Ahern in Tellus. The Gold and Land Enhancers profit abour 1100-1300 per tonne with the agricultural mix about 400-500 per tonne (without board bonus). This nets around 90k per round trip (32 Tonne Cobra). Ahern is only 40 Ls from Tellus major. Key gate is 100 or so Ls. So none of the trips take too long.
Mix this up with various missions for Tellus Group and you can soon upgrade the Cobra. I'm working towards class A's all around (1.6 M each) but getting a bit side tracked after buying a plasma accelerator smile

Couple of options. You can either take the fun but slow method or the dull but fast(-er) method:-

- Fun but slow - use your Cobra to hunt bounties at the nearest Resource Extraction Point - make sure you pick one which spawns Cobras regularly for decent profit. Invest any money you raise in upgrading your cobra (plus insurance) to improve your ability to kick ass. You can easily make 100k credits in 15-20 minutes this way and it's good fun.

- Dull but fast - find a good trade route (e.g. Lao Zi - Sutcliffe (gold) to Gandui - Dixon (Progenitor Cells) = 2,600 profit per tonne on a round trip). Repeat this until you can afford a Type-6 (circa 4mil) then repeat till you can afford an Asp (circa 15mil). Then forget trading and go back to being a bad ass. Time to start thinking about hunting wanted anacondas for the 130,000 contracts.

It does get a bit repetitive, but when you start seeing proper money coming in, and decent ships coming within your grasp, it seems worthwhile. I'm up to 9mil in my type 6 now so am about 2 days away from a decently kitted out Asp. I then plan to head out into unexplored space and plant my flag in some new systems.

I should also say, the Lao Zi to Gandui round trip can be completed in under 10 minutes, provided your Type 6 can handle a 16.1ly laden jump. Works out about 1.5m profit per hour in a 104tonne Type 6. Risk of interdictions is pretty low too. Decent run.

We could put a range on the wiki. Any idea what the threshold is for Deadly? If it follows the same geometric curve it looks a bit daunting; I'm going to just chip away at it gradually, and when I get bored I'll do some exploring.
Nope but I'm miles away from reaching that at the moment as I'm trading now (well mostly when I'm not bored of doing it). I was going to say number of kills / claims could be a better way but even claims can tally more than one for a single kill. At the moment I'm seeing if it's quicker just going for ships equal or bigger than my Viper / Cobra which are competent rated or above, if something less has a good bounty though (10k+) I'd still go for it.

Asp is now stowed again after encountering a particularly nasty anaconda.
Now just have to make back the 600k credits in a stock sidewinder.
