Not read that one before but very possible. Anyway I made it over (only a few jumps from where I was) so we will see. Didn't get the friend request though. Will pop online tomorrow as there are a few RES's around that might be worth a look.

Not that rare...I'm not very good at PvP (though ship configuration has a lot to answer for in this). Fine is now up to 21M so plenty to go around!

Got the final parts for my PC arriving today. Will be setting it all up later and I want to get back into Elite. What is the best ship and fitting to get me exploring, maybe go to Sag. A. etc. And also what is the best way to get the money to buy it. I'm only flying an Eagle right now I think?

Small and light is the key - nothing else matters in the black.

Asp, A6 FSD, A5 fuel scoop, Advanced discovery scanner, detailed surface scanner and not much else. Use the smallest D-rated kit you can for everything else. Don't need shields. You can take some auto repair kits as they don't weigh anything, but they can't repair your hull nor canopy and that's what will send you home before any of the modules start failing. Some people take heat sinks but I've never had cause to use them. Should be aiming for 38+ly jump distance.

If you go to Sag A* you might want to farm the neutron fields for some easy exploration credits.

Can't advise on the *best* way to get the credits to buy it - it's all changed since my day. Easy credits can be found at RES sites or joining PP if you can afford the time to grind credits - get to Rank 5 and you get 50,000,000 every week you can stay there.

I'm gearing up for a jaunt to Sag A* just as soon as the full X1 release has happened on Oct 6 - no point me setting out now and finding I'm midway there where it happens and ships are turned into credits!

I haven't found anywhere selling an A6 FSD or A5 scoop. I've currently got an Asp with A5 FSD and A3 scoop, and I can jump around 30LY (will be more then I strip out guns and shields) and scoop at around 180/s. Any idea how much of an improvement stepping up to an A6 FSD and bigger scoop will yield, and where I might find them.....?

I answered my own question - the problem was I hadn't appreciated that each internal slot has its own size rating and so when I was looking at swapping my current A3 scoop (in a 3 slot) the station inventory only showed modules up to size 3.
