That's a great website, thanks for sharing. Just a shame it doesn't list prices frown

I've heard that BD-28 413 does Vulture and most upgrades at a discount. haven't been there myself yet but that's where I'll head when I have my 30 million!

ED problems. Someone hand me a fly swat.

I don't know if it's the focus on Horizons, the latest updates or what but seems to me there are more than a few bugs around.

2 weeks now and I can't play.

'Unable to connect to transaction server'. And that's it, game over. By that I meen, I cannot:

Dock and claim credits.
Re fuel or re arm - at first that was ok but fuel is now a serious issue. When I did dock everything was red when trying to fuel/arm, not able to access anything.
It got worse...
Supercruise - thrust is ok in flight but at SC I'm stuck at 30km/s so I can't even make it to a station now.

I started a thread on the forums and no surpirse a few others have the same problems. We recieved one note from a mod that FD are aware and investigating but of the tickets raised, nothing has come back about a possible fix. The tin hatters are saying it's FD not bothering as they are focusing on Horizons and a new GFX engine that will be switched from DX10 to 11. This tinhat threory came from another thread to do with FPS dropping in supercruise rendering the game unplayable.

I'm guessing I'm the only one here out of PH players having transaction issues?

There is no fix in sight so that's me put off buying horizons for now, oh and well done if you have managed to read this far...biggrin

BT Fibre. Can't see how it could be ISP related as this is world wide so to speak. Still unable to play. A couple of people have said going to 1.5 solved the probelem but that's Beta only just now and only for the 'privileged'.

Getting a bit fed up with FD, they just don't seem interested!

Horizons Beta is due on Monday, whole new ball game. While I'm greatly looking forward to it I think it does dilute the game somewhat, first CQC now this.
Purity v Playability? I suppose I'll take playability.

I've never played CQC but I can't see how it being there negatively impacts the regular game? As for Horizons, it's not mandatory to buy it to continue playing the normal game, you just won't get the new features.

Horizons, why would it dilute the gameplay?
I'm into exploration -I think the core USP of the game-, and it will probably improve the experience a lot.

This game is clearly not for everyone, but I love it and it feels it is made by enthusiasts - a huge plus in my book.

It's ready for download but I think I'll hold off for now, they normally do lots of quick little fixes after a major upgrade like this, think I'll let it settle.

I had a quick go last night, it was too late for much by the time it had downloaded.

Flew down to a planets surface and exploded because I landed heavily and had forgot to lower my landing gear....

seems pretty smooth though.

Definitely need to upgrade my PC now, runs okay off planet still at 40-70 fps but on a planet it drops below 30 fps for me if I run at high settings or above though it is still runs pretty smooth outside of outposts even at low fps (20-30).

I think they've done pretty well with the planet detail and the transition from supercruise which is much the same as dropping out of SC to a station. Apart from the brief pause it's as if you've flown down as in the previous frontier elite games. SRV drives well and docking it is pretty easy though I couldn't get back to my docked ship at a settlement on a pad and had to drive out and recall the ship off the pad to get back into it.

You'll need to check the gravity of planets that you are looking to land on as well so light explorer setups (with underpowered thrusters) may drop you like a rock on high gravity planets as you come into a hover to land especially in the larger ships like the Anaconda. I haven't really tried the crafting side / surface missions yet but so far so good.

I picked this up in the Steam sale for a tenner (would have been rude not to). Any tips for a complete beginner? I don't have a joystick so struggling to learn all the key mappings at the moment but I have just picked up a gaming mouse so should be able to map some of the functions to the buttons on that. Am I going to be able to play this properly with just mouse and keyboard?

I've played previous Elite's but the learning curve on this looks pretty steep so any tips for noobs greatly appreciated.

Most people want money yesterday. If that sounds like you try this. The rare run is also a good way of getting straight out there and seeing what's what.

Otherwise, do some missions, help the police shoot baddies at a Resource Extraction Site (most planets with rings, shown on the navigation screen - press 1 to look left).

Also, plenty of trading sites out there. In principle, buy high tech stuff at a high tech world and sell it too an agricultural economy & vice versa.

Have fun. smile

Keyboard and mouse is absolutely fine, it will just take some time to learn key mappings. Why not print out a cheat sheet e.g. http://imgur.com/0KwfPUR

Have you done the tutorials?

I found that even a cheap joystick improves things immeasurably. I've had a Logitech Attack 3 for years and years and while I don't use any of the buttons on the base or the throttle slider, just the buttons on the top, it makes things much easier. See what they've got at Argos or PC World for £20-£30 and get stuck in.

Even this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3... would be an improvement over M&K IMO.

Double your money and get http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4... (they're separateable) for even more control.
