I don't want to play solo and I sort of don't see why I should have to. I like interacting with other CMDRs, don't even mind being interdicted by CMDR pirates, it's the ones that just hang out at interesting locations (like the barnacles at Merope 5C or Sag. A*) just to destroy other CMDRs that have made the trip there that I take exception to.

IMHO Frontier should have a third option besides Open and Solo - a multiplayer environment where they will accept and investigate reports of ganking/griefing and take action against the aggressor if they find it was unjustifiable/simple asshole-type behaviour.

That won't happen. Like many MMO's ED is supposed to give freedom and choice and unfortunately just like in real life, some people choose to be aholes. It happens in nearly every MMO game so you either play solo or accept that you'll get griefed on occasion. You should try playing EVE, there are whole corporations there who make a career out of hanging out at jump points to grief\gank other players. In fact if you aren't trying to mess up someone else's st in the most underhanded way, you are probably playing it wrong.

Maybe a co-op mode (like Destiny where you're allied with other players) and a PvP mode?

It is one of the reasons I only play in solo mode. Can't be bothered with having to grind my way back to a decent ship again hehe

And you just summed up why, for me, MMO games are just st. In real life, if someone chooses just to be an asshole to others there are real consequences. In ED, the developers simply ignore it.

If I went on holiday to the pyramids in Egypt I wouldn't expect to be beaten up or murdered and I'd be surprised if you tried to explain that was acceptable, yet when I visited the Barnacles at Merope even a couple of weeks ago I got attacked and destroyed while I was landed just looking at them.

If that's what FD say "is just part of the game" then I'm done with it.

There are 3 modes of play, one of them is a private group mode, that is the multi-player one where you can set up player groups with no idiots.

Never looked into it but isn't that what you want to join?

Some groups on here, some playing in private group mode - http://inara.cz/wings

Although I suppose a group in open play is probably also protective of each other so you get support.

Hmm not really although I haven't looked into it much. I mean Open becomes "anything goes", Solo stays totally PvE and a third environment which is monitored and there are real consequences for those who simply seek to disrupt the play of others.

Anyone been on since the latest update?

Holy st they've turned up the NPC heat. I got my arse handed to me in a High Res last night in my battle Conda. Normally I wouldn't need heat sinks or cell banks fighting NPC in a res. I left with 45% hull and exhausted all defensive aids. 500K repair/re arm bill for a measly 1.5 mill hehe

Graphics have been tweaked to and you now get audio docking instructions.

Hmmmm farming the res for cash will never be the same....

I've just logged on, and all the spaceport menus seem to be as laggy as hell to load, so I didn't venture out. I thought it might have been my connection but all my ping times seem fine.

There seems to be a slight issue with the NPC weapons so I'll be avoiding playing until it's fixed.

I've just been playing the update. the NPC's are much tougher and less stupid which will no doubt cause me issues as I'm rubbish at combat BUT...
Just had so much fun fleeing through a densely populated ring system with an angry Imperial Clipper chasing me around the asteroids! Fight lasted 20 minutes and I just scraped it, massive buzz.

Power play seems to cause lot of the excessive npc attacks etc. I am neutral now and lot less issues.

It's more like the wild west in the early days with lots of banditry and sometimes the indians are friendly, sometimes not. The frontier is not a civilised place, but that's what makes it the frontier and so we arm ourselves to the teeth before exploring!

It's brilliant, quite brilliant.

Just had an hour in a High RES site, picking off Pythons and Anacondas as you would expect, had about 800 grand in the bank.
I saw a ship attacking miners way off in the distance but the Security Services seemed disinterested, so I boosted out there myself to see what was happening. I came up against a Viper with heavily engineered mods. Had a fantastic 10 minute battle amongst the ice rocks (Arexe 3, great place for combat) and got smashed, lost all my bounties! I'm in a very heavily armed Vulture btw.

I can't understand all the moaning on the Frontier forums, this is such a buzz. You have to be very careful who you take on now, no more "I'm better than him, lets go" Now you can get mullered by something totally unexpected.

Great fun.

I agree, it's brought an new dimension to the game and made it a bit more interesting. Farming RES sites for easy kills was getting a bit tedious. Now it requires a bit more thought. "Am really going to take on that wing of 3, if I do, what's my escape plan"? I even ditched a prismatic shield gen for the biggest I could afford. I need cash now, it's not going to be so easy. laugh

Guys. I purchased Elite Dangerous on xBox One when it was released and now paid for the Season Pass which I added when Horizons was released as an add-on recently. There are only three downloads available on xBox One?

1. Elite Dangerous plus Horizons £29.99
2. Elite Dangerous plus Horizons plus upgrade credits £39.99
3. Season Pass £19.99

The text in the official announcement of the release of Horizons read (to me anyway) like the add-on is available to existing ED owners in the Season Pass for £19.99?

So having purchased and downloaded the Season Pass I note that the title screen remains unchanged and still shows the game title as Elite Dangerous. No banner for Horizons. The in-game help video files include 'How To Land On Planets' but it seems others with the Season Pass cannot land on planets and get a "You Must Have Horizons" in order to do so.

So my questions are do I get the Horizons add-on as part of the Season Pass? Or must I purchase 1. or 2. above in order to get the Horizons add-on?

There was talk of having to buy the game twice to get the add-on but that was on the release of the add-on for the PC so not sure if that remains the case with the xBox One incarnation of the DLC too?

If you bought Elite Dangerous, to get the DLC (Horizons, Engineers etc) you just need the season pass, called Horizons Season Pass.

I bought Elite Dangerous and the Horizons when first released (Horizon has been effectively renamed Horizons Season Pass).

Not sure why it would not be working, have you checked on here - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php/144...

Ps. this is what the Season pass gets you - https://www.frontierstore.net/games/elite-dangerou...

Does it need a launcher update? It always does on the PC.

This is the £39.99 one it's ED & H plus lots of liveries (that you don't really need) - https://www.frontierstore.net/games/elite-dangerou...
