Also, Oculus Rift would be an option, but it seems like one of the those never ending, always in development products to me (a bit like Elite !).
Trust me on this - play Elite on an OR and you'll never go back to a monitor, no matter how big or curvy it is.Bought in yesterday, the extra £15 for beta is excessive maybe but it's only 6 weeks of Eve playtime so sod it.
Waiting on delivery of a Thrustmast t-flight HOTAS as I wasn't getting to grips with mouse control and if I'm going to have to learn I might as well have the stick from the start.

Yes I agree, but when did this type of garbage start ? Companies now think their customers should pay MORE for an unfinished product. Wrong - they should be paying LESS.I didn't pay the $99 for IL2 BOS for a Beta, I waited until it was released on Steam.
Yep, the initial high price was to fund making the game, we might not even have one if it wasn't for the backers who were prepared to pay.
They won't drop it now, that would be a slap in the face for those who funded it.
No one is forcing anyone to pay anything, it will be cheaper if you wait.
Still a bargain compared to an EVE or WoW sub in my view.

This is it really. They are what, £9 a month or something? So if you can get 5 months of equivalent playing time out of this then its paid for itself pretty much. That's how I'm approaching it so wasn't worried about the £50 too much. I know how much as a youth I put into Elite and Frontier so 5 months is easily possible. Only got a few hours in so far, but the signs are promising. I found mouse / keyboard control was much easier switching the Mouse to yaw control only and putting roll on the A/D keys, feels more intuitive that way (but then it was like that in the SWG jump to lightspeed expansion so kind of used to it).
I dropped away from this for a bit as I couldn't get comfortable with my x52 controller set up but I finally worked out what felt wrong about the set-up and swapped the roll and yaw axis. It now operates as my old Tie-fighter set up did and feels right to me (Roll is now on RZ-Axis and yaw on X-axis)
So that coupled with finding a nice feeling set-up for my Track_IR has me heading back into the game and finding it feeling good now!
Are there enough PHers yet to set up a friends list? Not that I'm any good but might be nice to hook up with a few people now and again

If they want to flog me a beta/unfinished product then it should be the other way round, i.e. pay me for testing it for them.
But you're playing the beta of Elite, right?motorizer said:

Is this only MP or is there a stand alone option like the original (oh happy days on my Spectrum 48k)?
They promised a single player offline mode, but it's not in yet.You can play the online mode in solo and you won't see other players

No. I've ordered the proper version for £35 but I've not paid an extra £15 for the incomplete version. Like I say, if they want to pay me to beta test their product for them then I might have considered it. But I'm not paying to be a tester.
Some people queue up all night to just have a new iPhone 6, to replace their perfectly good iPhone 5s. This would show that some people are happy to "pay" a premium to be first to have or access something. Whilst I don't get it myself, it isn't a unique or rare phenomenon.
Thinking about it now, i'd really like to have a pc with some OR kit and games and if that cost a bit more i'd be really happy to be involved in the supporting of the development of horison shifting tech.

I have to admit that I have never understood that mentality..Whilst I don't get it myself, it isn't a unique or rare phenomenon.
