Very wise; I accidentally head-butted my first... (putting 'boost' next to 'target ahead' has it's risks)

It didn't end well.

Hmm a few hours last night and some tonight until I hit wall - of boredom. Making my way from Thargoid space to founders world. I think I got about half way there and just gave up. Now i remember why I haven't played for so long. It's just too tedious now I guess I've had my fill. Maybe go back in another 6 months laugh

New tech dealer and trade data follows.

Also a personal milestone for me after starting Elite Dangerous almost 3 years ago (22nd Jan 2015) and playing on and off since.

1bn credits and 2bn in total assets.

Interesting new feature in the hangar, is this some kind of new lift mechanism?

Oh, it's just the new Corvuga Belvette.

I've just picked this up again, started playing before xmas, took a break, played a few other games in the mean while and yeah, I feel quite confused as to what my goals are. Not least because there are so many controls it takes an age to remember all the procedures for everything. I will have to read through the thread and glean a few strategies. I'm certainly not up to the point where I feel like I have a fighting chance in combat yet...

FourWheelDrifts little guide a couple of pages back to me is the way to go, it takes time and i've had to have a break from exploration for a while, it's money earning you never thought possible and that disposable cash means no more fear of Sidewinders after insurance disasters.

Do your time scanning and reap money and freedom of choice after, just be ready for a week of "work" mixed with some brilliant sights and the reward of getting to Elite in a very cheeky almost cheating way.

It's just the same as using eddb to find which planets a certain material can be surface prospected, or a best trade from one system to another. Data that already exists within the bubble and slightly outside. The fun part is finding completely new systems and planets that no one else has discovered yet and getting your name forever tagged to it.

So reached Elite in trade at the end of last week. 40 hours of play time.

Current Fleet is (all A Rated):

Conda with passenger bays.
AspEx with explorer loadout, so SRV/Scanners etc,
Fer-de-Lance set up for bounty hunting
and a T10 set up for Thargoid hunting.

Just started working on engineers, got Felicity to lvl 5 within a few hours of starting since its just exploration data. (Road to riches web app ftw).

Thinking of doing Todd next, or maybe working on my permit to visit Sol/earth smile

At 40 hours I think I'd just made a Cobra Mklll and had about 20k in the bank.
How on earth are people doing this? Is it just mode switching for endless passenger missions in somewhere like Smeaton?

So from the start, I basically followed this to unlock Farseer:

This until sidewinder is outfitted and has the 1.5m scanner, then this

From that point I swapped my sidewinder for a transport, outfitted with lots of passenger bays. Then ran economy passengers from Allen Hub in Upsilon Aquarii to Smeaton in LTT 9360.

Upgraded to a Python when possible and ran lots in a passenger outfitted Python (130 economy seats). Passengers pay circa 1.2m per seat, so that's nearly 200m every hour. (20 minutes flipping between solo/private/open to fill ship and then 40min super cruise).

Put a movie on, or in my case play the xbox whilst it runs in the background, rinse and repeat.

That's the worst thing about this game, you really feel like half the time you want to bring up a web browser or Youtube to give yourself something to do when doing some of the more tedious travelling around in-system.

As if by magic, passenger missions have been destroyed ...

Stupid way of "fixing" the "problem" of people making some decent money. Just disable the supercruise bonuses.

Seems reasonably sensible to me - the anomaly was never meant to be there in the first place (or at least the bonus wasn't supposed to be anywhere near what the system was generating, even if passenger missions to stations distance from the star were intended to pay a premium).

It's not the first time that the background simulation or the mission generation algorithms have had unintended effects and thrown up ways of making unbalancingly easy money, and they've all eventually been nerfed. Sothis/Ceos. 17 Draconis massacre missions, and so on.

The amount of wailing and gnashing of teeth in one of the FB Elite groups I am a member of was ridiculous last night. So many entitled whiners bemoaning their stupidly easy source of millions, nay billions of credits having been cut off....

I read a sensible solution would be to limit the missions to higher grade cabins only, business or first class so less passengers to carry (and less missions to carry) cut the payout by 50% and make sure if it says enemies may be sent they are sent, wing of 2. This will make the shieldless & harmless Anacondas think about defence.

I had a 40 minute supercruise run once to pick up some rare items, the most boring 40mins ever in game, I was praying for an interdiction just to have some company. I have no idea how anyone can do it over and over. I'm never going to Hutton Orbital.

I use board flipping sometimes to trigger a naval mission for rank, since they take ages to appear after getting to 100% and then again because the first one usually requires something I don't have and the station doesn't sell and I know if I leave, go to another system where they do when I get back a different mission will be available that doesn't need it, or something else. They can't stop that, due to the way Elite works online.

I believe they are changing it but have cut it right down for now.

Lots of salty tears happening right now.

Honestly, another money maker will be found soon, and everyone will do that til someone complains to FD.

Such is the way ever since the first Sothis gold rush.

I'd say it's like an non-rank locked Federal assault ship, below Python in the ship list. It's very manoeuvrable but has the brakes of other Lakon ships so be careful when landing on higher gravity planets. It's has 3 military slots. Costs 18m cr to buy.

Other things, new male voice Victor is part of the game not a bought voice pack, you can use Verity or Victor in the ships or you can use Victor in the ship and Verity in the SRV.

Not gone full fighter (had an ADS and an SRV hangar in) but here are some specs for core/optional modules, un-engineered speed, boost, jump range, shields and integrity, all 6 utility slots with 0A boosters.

Thumbsnap covers the jump range on the preview, it's 14.90 ly
