You can play solo mode too rizzo, infact your game save is consistent between the two so you can flip solo/mmo whenever you like. I started solo until I'd learned a bit and traded up ships then flipped.

Not really a rpg just a memo! You can watch a twitch channel to see what the game is like to get to know what the game is like!
Showing my age here (although I guess loads of people who remember the originals are getting this) but googled that having never heard of twitch, is that really people just live streaming themselves playing the game? I think I've turned in to my father and no longer understand the modern world frown

Does anyone know if they will be releasing a playable demo ? I would be interested in the game having played the original one back in the 80s, but I would like to try a demo first to see if it still clicks with me.

That is pretty much what happens. Some of the donations can be eye watering too, god knows what goes through peoples minds. Surprisingly if the streamer is young, blonde, female and has a webcam on them while they play it doesn't seem to matter quite how good they are either.

Had a good run the last couple of days, now I've had some time to actually sit down and play/learn it. I'm doing a good bit of trading and despite losing everything in a nasty combat encounter, I'm now back up to 12,000 Cr now and really enjoying it. I also used it as a good excuse to upgrade my graphics card to a GTX 970 and it looks and feels amazing (I'm also using TrackIR). Myself and a mate are flying together for protection which adds a new dimension to the game too.

Is it worth making a list of all the PH Commander names? I'm 'Cmdr Andrew' if anyone sees me around. Maybe we need an Elite Dangerous PH sticker on our ships hehe

Ah, no, I'd got the old one for the combat trainer thing from a week or so ago. I'm now downloading (at around 8mb/s) - thanks Toxic.

(oddly, when I started the old launcher, when I clicked "logon" it came up with "bad request". Not the most user friendly error message).

Almost half way downloaded in the time it's taken me to type this reply !!

1. The nav panel shows all celestials in system (except undiscovered, exploration mechanics etc) and all systems that are within your max un-laden jump range (some will appear as mass exceeded when your too heavy to jump that far). As you get a longer range FSD or better ship the list will get longer as more systems are reachable. My list are now rather long with an A class FSD in a cobra.

2. Ahh the 3 buttons, 1 button does both supercruise and hyperspace, it knows what you have targeted and does the appropriate action, the other 2 key binds allows you to have more control and Ive bound the supercruise button so if im under attack I can just active my fsd to get into supercruise without a target.

3. Firstly FLT & Supercruise are the same thing, the unit c is the speed of light so for example 20c is 20x the speed of light. As for the audio glitch dropping out of supercruise is actually a session/instance/server change, very cleverly hidden one, so the silence is that happening, since patch 2.06 supercruise transition has got super smooth.

Anymore questions just im very happy to help smile

1 I think it show everything in range??

2 you can get by with one key, some people wanted separate binds for hyperspace and FTL so they added them.

3 Maybe a bit of a loading pause?

There are missions to attack funeral (and wedding) processions, seen them but never taken one.

Pick up some lavian brandy and leesti evil juice, take them far away (I took it to empire space) = profit!
This should work with any other goods that are unique to a certain system. I made about 15k a ton, limited quantities though, best for a smaller ship with big jump range

The nav panel shows only a limited number of them as far as I know, unless they've changed it in one of the last updates. I had a 22ly jump range on something and it certainly wasn't showing everything within that as I'd frequently have to go in to the galaxy menu to select where to go.

Just saved up enough to buy a Cobra though biggrin Just need to keep saving up, found when I logged in last night the only missions available were the 'go get this cargo and we give you money' or combat ones. Will see tonight, perhaps need to go elsewhere (I'm currently in Aulin).

Had a bunch of fun with an upgraded Eagle doing some bounty hunting, but found trading made so much more money. Went back and upgraded a hauler a bit so it was more usable. Been good trying out the various upgrades and different weapons, so I know what I'm doing now.

Can anyone answer the question that I asked previously? Now that the game is officially released, have they switched on the dynamic content and has it made a difference to how the game plays? Also are there more people flying around? Just worried about reports that the game felt a bit empty and devoid of proper content during the gamma phase.

I think it's always going to feel a bit empty and quiet unless you are floating around Sol and the other major systems.

There is a slave rebellion going on in the system I'm in, from the hour or so I played last night it seems like it is generating missions and warzones.
The only difference I could see from the warzones in beta is that you are having a lasting effect on your reputation and on the factions influence in the system.

It's always going to be difficult to make space feel as vast as it should and still have multiplayer. Well known systems like Sol and Lave will always have players though. More multiplayer features have been promised early next year such as the ability to form wings.

You can use your discovery scanner to discover astronomical objects. Once you have discovered them you can target them and scan them. The scanning is automatic, target the object and point your ship at it and you will see it being scanned in the target info box if you are in range. You can sell that information at the Cartographics. I've had some systems pay out over 20k each sometimes.

Definitely not noob friendly. Tried it for an hour or 2 last night and slowly figuring it out but it is abit of a steep learning curve. Maybe not as bad as the X series but not totally obvious!
