Yeah that seems about right, it's a shame they're not a bit more mixed up. There's nothing to keep you around if the first few are sidies as you know that's all you're going to get.
I just supercruise out of the RES, turn around and drop back in. It resets the local space generator so you have a good chance of getting Cobras. As you say Sidies aren't worth hanging around for.

Just got another Anaconda generator, but I got messed up after the third one and had to retreat for repairs.

X55 is a great setup just too many bloody buttons biggrin

am still trying to remember what I mapped where
Yeah kept having to ask him where stuff was when I gave it ago!

The stick was much much better than my FLY5, very smooth minor inputs compaired to the jerky stick I have frown Was thinking of getting a Warthog but the X55 may do and is a lot cheaper.

Not that I've tried many ships, but I reckon that when wings comes out, the Eagle is going to come into its own against the larger stuff, groups of 2 or 3 with the right upgrades could cause a lot of trouble to anacondas and the likes.

Yes, I normally just hop along to the next RES in the ring. But it's a bit "gamey", be nicer if the pirates were a random mix wherever you were.
On another note, mining is sooooo much better when you get a multi-bin refinery.

Right I'm on and installed now.

And I found the exception etc.. error on installing as well, seems like a conflict between having combat training installed and trying to then install the full game, seems it doesn't like both installed at the same time, uninstall combat training to install the game. Then if you try to install combat training with the full game installed you get the error again. One or the other not both.

OK so I'm at the Elephant's Trunk nebula now.
I had to take a diversion to this place when I saw it come up.

Sadly the planets are not avarice, gluttony etc.
Starting to get some distance here, net yet half way to the nebula.

On the fringe of the Spiral Arm, destinations are scarce, fortunately I never ran out of scoopable starts, yet...

This distant cluster was a feature of the trip but I couldn't work out where or what it was, might even be another galaxy seen side on?

Definitely bigger by the time I got to the Trunk though, I must hunt this down!

Earth is but a distant speck now!

I'm a bit gutted my voice attack claimed to be taking screenshots but wasn't, I thought I had a catalogue of shots of the nebula as I approached and from within, I'll get some on the way back.

I've found a tiny nebula that looks interesting, The Bubble Nebula, a little purple bubble, half it's stars are permit required and curiosity is drawing me to it. It's about another 5000 LY on, I might go there before coming back but a few misguided tabbed out moments have left me with canopy damage.

The Malbec was a Septima Gran Reserva, although the standard septima is exceptional for the money, once I fix my companies website when my holibobs finish you'll be able to buy some wink

I haven't done any real exploring, do you get more credits for the further out a system is, or is it just a standard rate?

The little exploring I've done suggests that there's little to be gained from spending the time scanning all the objects in a system, so many of them are icy planets that are worth virtually nothing that's it doesn't seem to be worth the time to find the (very) occasional Goldilocks planet. Or am I missing something?

They must have that running somewhere and I'm sure they'll publish it at some point.
If you scroll the Galaxy map all the way out I'm about an inch from Sol on a 40" TV!

Not sure, I'm about 3000 LY from a station to hand the data in, thus my concern about canopy damage, can't repair that with the repair module and if it goes pop 25 mins of O2 will get me the square root of Justin Beiber's talent.

I'm scanning lots of stuff, largely on a can I be arsed/does the system map show any likely high value items. Sometimes I just want to get to the next place and move on, sometimes I need to browse PH, Facebook News sites etc then that 200,000 LS away star is good to go. There are no NPC's this far out so you could go to sleep and be ok logged on.
Some of the exploration guys are banging on about profit per scan etc but I couldn't care less, if I feel like scanning the system I will, if not I move on.
Just as in RL I'm not motivated by £ and there's no reason for me to want to rush to having a maxxed Python and no real challenges ahead.

Nice one, thanks Philbo.

Worth a note, seriously considering getting an Oculus Rift. My mates playing this using that and he tells me its an entirely different experience, his words to me, "when you use this you will never go back to using a monitor"

There's a maximum number for the panel+1, the +1 being your next destination if range >greater than max panel number. sometimes it f's up and loses your destination though, a trip to the galaxy map and clicking on your end destination point, should reinstate your next destination to the list.

In cluttered areas a 30LY+ jump range could give hundreds of destinations.

Chuck I have the Rift, bought it especially for Elite, it is absolutely awesome!

Not using it at the moment though because doing exploration and having to work the galaxy map every 100LY is a royal pain in the ass.
1.1 gives us 1000LY plots and then I'll only have to come up for air every few hours rather than minutes.

Combat wise it is immense, and immersion wise just wow...that smoke in your cockpit when you overheat is full 3d, the pilot in the chair is hard to disassociate from yourself especially ig playing with a HOTAS as the graphis mimic your inputs. The first time you see a 3D planet slide under your ship your jaw will just drop wink

Only just starting, doing some training. Decided to test video capture, recorded first launch. Quite pleased with the Fraps capture with ED being on Ultra settings and my TrackIR providing more on screen activity that could have slowed it down (perhaps one little blip as I get lifted up to the launch deck). Only a simple launch but if anyone wants to see TrackIR you can on there - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Di7lZ6keBi8

And that's using the reflective clip (on my PH cap) I do have the powered pro-clip that attaches to headphones but that's such a fuss to set up and use I often end up banging it when adjusting the headphones. The cap clip seems to work just as well and I don't need to use headphones smile

I am but waiting for the commercial version which is rumoured to be smaller and cheaper, but also remember other companies are working on their VR headsets Razor and Samsung amongst them.

That's good to know, ta. I'll mention that to him, but he's a bit trigger happy just now as he has this kick ass machine so I guess it suites.

OT; as FWD says, I'm kind of in the same boat at the moment, really want an OR but waiting (patiently - arghh) for something more 'concrete' to come out, was on their web site yesterday and will keep an eye out on things.

I've had a go with mateys OR, first proper game with it? Alien Isolation, great curse haha. Awesome bit of kit though, we got my other half on it the same night, all after a few drinks. Told her she was on a broken down space ship, find the flight deck, figure out how to re start the engines and go from there, obviously didn't tell her about the beastie roaming around looking for blood. Her reactions were.....amusing biggrin

Nice, after a bit of practice it will be - lift off pad and... BOOST! Clip NPC Cobra hogging middle lane in letterbox, look over your shoulder shout "a**hole!", boost again and engage friendship drive biggrin
I did a second one and I seemed to be further up on the left and had to use the manoeuvring boosters to move out to the centre and roll left to straighten up, wish I recorded that one as it was really smooth. But then I have plenty of recent FSX and Cliffs of Dover experience smile

Indeed, even with a A5 FSD my T7 regularly took damage at 150-180 degrees just doing hyperspace jumps. You can thrust away from the sun then throttle back and let the FSD cool down before doing the next jump to mitigate it, but it's booooooring and adds time to the whole tedious process anyway. I only flew the T7 for a day before I got bored and went back to an Asp for some RES camping.

Don't think we haven't noticed the time of your latest posting! Pulled an all nighter?

I have just been reading that too! A hell of a journey. It's a shame there is no missions or rewards for exploration like that.
