No worries, try to ignore the tweenies opinions, they tend to shout the loudest with the least actual experience. It is slightly stylised towards NFS IMO which is why people find it so easy to slate it as arcade.

The fact is, it has some of the most involving driving I have ever enjoyed. The GT3 Z4 and 12C GT3 are superb, and the game has its own three classes of open wheel racing to represent the progression from Junior Formula cars to F1; These are amazing.

It also has one of the best representations of Bathurst in any game.

The only thing I can't help with is how this will all be ported over to PS4 - I hope they will keep the fidelity of the physics as they are on PC. With a G27 set up it really is very good.
Yeah Bathurst looks great

Is there an up to date car list anywhere? I've googled and found one from 2013...which isn't too current anymore I'd hope
More getting confirmed all the time, this is how it stands right now AFAIK...
Nice list. Do we have EA to thank again for the lack of Porsches, and RUFs as replacements? rolleyes

You could always buy this instead if it's a deal breaker to you.

I'm still going to buy the game, as IMO it looks a better driving game than DriveClub or The Crew, but for a game which supposedly has the largest number of cars and tracks, no Lotus road cars seems an oversight.

Since the concept and first announcements This game has always been a racing simulator featuring racing cars, why are you surprised that there are no Lotus road cars?

It's like complaining that there aren't any flame throwers or dragons in it.

Lotus road cars come quite a way down the list for me, and not needed when you take in to account the cars it already has and the lack of a class for lotus road cars to race in.

They would be behind Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati, Lancia and Alfa for me, well behind.

If anyone has a track and car combo they would like to watch, post it and I will have a go!

Also, as complete as that car list is, it is missing some that I have already seen in progress!

Flamethrowers or Dragons wouldn't fit in, but cars, no matter if they are road ones such as the A1 Quattro or Ford Mustang or racing ones like the R18 or F1 Longtail, would fit in.

I have evidently grown up used to Forza style games with road cars able to race with race cars on the same tracks.

Some feedback from one of the Beta testers:

It's got full replays, photo mode, car showroom with photo mode, full career, open track days, you can customise the car setups, change anything other then car colours and decals, but you can be snap happy or tinker with the cars setup before heading out on track...

I've ploughed about 100 hours into the beta, seen its many rises and falls as the handling went from good or dreadful then good and now superb, and trust me the ai in this game are well aware of you and are smart and quick...

I have got high hopes for it, I think it'll attract the pure racer, but I think casual players could have a hard time with it at first... clean racing is the key to success and wining in this game.. ram your way around the track and you'll just wreck the car and eventually get black flagged...

Mechanical damage is possible, you can easily wreck your car , pit stops needed if you blow tires etc or you can set visual damage only or no damage at all..

you can set tire wear, fuel loads, you start a race on cooler tires and after a lap or so the grip comes to you as the tires heat up and the track rubbers in..

Each car has a predefined setup, which you can change and tinker with for each track , it will also use tires based on weather but I have found at the moment it's better to select your own tires based on conditions..

but I've found the defaults do work ok, but I am sure those in the know would get much more out of it if they know what to set..

you can save car setups per car per track, you can really go to town on it. problem is, at the moment the menus in the pc beta builds are still being updated, so it's still fairly confusing in places, and not a slick process..

You can set up the car for a quick qualifying hot lap and then change this for the race. The version I play on pc has a track telemetry showing brake temps, tire temps, balance etc... I'm not sure if this will make it to the console versions.. it's toggled with the direction pad, you can also make changes to pit orders whilst pitting, it's fairly in depth , so if in a race you don't like the rear wing down force, the pit crew can change it, obviously adds to pit stop times..

it's more in depth then gt5 /6 or forza in that regard. reason I think some will struggle with it, in terms of pure track racing, it's got that for sure, but for instance frills maybe not... if you want to take a bac mono around Silverstone for 35 laps and race clean in a hope to win then this is your game, if you want to do quick races, bump into other cars then drive club perhaps, or you want a now nonsense racer that thinks its a racer and acts like one but really deep down it's still an arcade game, maybe looks toward forza or the up coming gt7....

I think it's a superb in between racer between iracing on pc, that's way too serious for me, and gt6 which is a lot simplistic then iracing but project cars sits between iracing and gt 6 if that makes sense...

Each car has a pre defined setup, which you can change and tinker with for each track , it will also use tires based on weather but I have found at the moment it's better to select your own tires based on conditions..

You've confirmed most of my hopes for this. I'm going to be getting on ps4 as I have no space for a full pc to game on. Have you compared it to rfactor and assetto corsa, both have been highly praised and I assume will be the main pc competition, since youve already said it should be better than gt/forza.

To me that sounds like it slips into a sort of no-mans land between the proper serious sims and the fun sim/arcade type games.

Probably still buy it for PC though!

Over the summer, Turn 10 told me that the EA contract only expires in 2016. So yes.

I think the comparison is more about the format as opposed to the physics, iracing has no AI and most bumps will leave the car bent to the point of it not working.

Physics wise, pCars has about as good a systems anyone, you do not go in to the details with tyre model and altitude effects on the turbos for an arcade game.

It will compare directly with AC with both having elements which the other doesn't, if you like your sim racing and don't own both pCars and AC and even RF2,you will be missing out. Again, I am talking the PC version as I don't know how the console version will be.

PCars distinct advantage over AC is the dynamic weather and day and night cycle, here is Audi LMP1 driver Rene Rast showing you a full 24 house injust one lap of the Le Mans circuit.
