Can I actually get the beta version of this on Steam now or do I have to wait for the actual release date? If so is it worth downloading now or am I better off waiting for the final product?
Sorry, I'm pretty new to Steam and PC gaming.
You can pre-order i believe however you cannot get the early versions. There was a buy in period a year or longer back where people bought in to launch the project. It's sit tight for release now. Sorry, I'm pretty new to Steam and PC gaming.
I did buy in at the start but got a refund after a while as it felt very "shift" at that point in development however i've heard better things more recently. I personally prefer the likes of rF2 for their rawness rather than pretty images however it's very likely ill buy it when released as they have Le Mans.

hmm, I'm wondering whether its going to be worth getting at all now. I've spent a lot of time on Race07 for the same reasons as you with rf2. Did feel it was very realistic but I've recently started getting into Assetto Corsa. Although its definitely better looking I'm not sure if its quite as real feeling as Race07? Unless I've just not managed to set my wheel up properly yet.I did buy in at the start but got a refund after a while as it felt very "shift" at that point in development however i've heard better things more recently. It depends what you want from a game.
Some look nicer.
Some have better physics, but I'd just drive what feels right to you and not get too hung up on this.
Some have better AI
Some have better online/community competitive racing
Some have huge numbers of cars and tracks, others are more limited
Some have mod support others have DLC
I'd try as many as you can. This looks fun, good car and track selection, good physics from what I understand. My personal favourite is iracing mostly for the competitive/online elements as the graphics ain't top tier and some people dislike the physics and there is a limited (relatively) car selection and it's not cheap.

Do you know if Project Cars will be available as a demo or will it be a case of buying it to try it?y2blade said:
Where are all the crackles, pops and bangs? It still sounds a little clinical to me. I'm still going to buy it though it seems like a big step on from GT6.Jayyylo said:
Has anyone every conducted an experiment between games to see if lap times are comparable or do they get faster with better games and technology updates? e.g. same car around the same track in gt3, gt4, forza 3 and 4, ac, project cars etc
I haven't seen lap time comparisons between games but they shouldn't really get faster, the idea should be to get as close as possible to the lap time of the real life version surely?BrownBottle said:

When I have some free time I might try a few runs of the TG track and compare my times to the TG power laps set by stig.
This video of AC does quite a good comparison, the real driver is PH member RobM77 I believe although I don't think the AC lap is his, they look pretty close.

Ideally we would need RobM77 to tell us his real and virtual lap times to see if it is really accurate.

For those still umming and arrring whether to buy a Thrustmaster T300Rs all I can say is do it, you won't disappointed.
It has transformed Driveclub for me as its now like a different game!
Well worth the money it feels amazing!
Do you have a wheel stand you use with it? If so which one do you recommend? It has transformed Driveclub for me as its now like a different game!

If it's any help I use a Wheelstand Pro with my G25 and according to the manufacturer the fitting to mount the t300 is identical to that of the G25/G27 so should fit. The pedal set on the 300 won't mount to the stand as is but they will ship the bits for 10 euro. I never bothered to mount my pedals anyway as they get in the way when I fold it up.
Its horses for courses, all of the 3 or 4 sims have a reason to play them, all bar iracing are very well priced considering.
Current build of Pcars has a good FFB feel now, AI is still off for me, but other than that, it is a very good package. I now have 169 hours logged on Pcars since the very early stages, I think it is a fantastic piece of kit.
Having now got a good bit of software for recording, I will start to put some videos up, the first of which demonstrates things that you can only do in Pcars.

Day to night transition sped up to x60 (so very quickly) on LeMans in quali with 45 other cars on track....
Ignore the terrible driving (yes, I know that spin) and with no aids, full 3 pedal and h pattern, its bloody good fun!
And check out that sun!

You will probably always be faster in a game as you don't have that real life fear of crashing and dieing.
True although bravery is a given for top race drivers. I think the more likely aspect is the ability to hotlap for millions of laps at the same track conditions. Back in the day when F1 used to stay at a race track for testing the midpack runners would be beating the race pole time in similar conditions just through the learning gained through additional track time. Throw in the fact you can change a set of springs and roll bars in a mouse click in a race sim and there is the opportunity to try far more setup combinations than any real race team could dream of.
