Good to hear born2slow. How do the AI stack up? On tracks like Gran Turismo and faultless in every race or do they have some Prost Jnr about them?
AI are getting focus now. I struggled in Clio Cup race at Brands Indy, but did well in Aston GT3 cars at Silverstone, I think the plan is to tune AI settings for all car types as well as circuits. They definitely race rather than just drive a line, but they sometimes still drive into you. The main thing I've learned being part of PCars is that game development is not linear, things go backwards before moving forwards rapidly. It's been quite an eye opening experience.I also own and have used Assetto Corsa, it feels like a clinical exercise in simulating driving next to the very emotional (they say visceral) sensory overload that is PCars. Both are good but PCars makes the hair stand up on my neck more. That's not to say I dislike AC.

I'm torn as to what platform to get Project Cars on. I unexpectedly acquired a PS4 yesterday but I'm very much 'PC master race'. The problem is forking out money for a wheel - they're so expensive.
Unexpectedly acquired a PS4 ( 'll have to use that one on the missus lol). If you already have a wheel for PC then go PC version. Unless there is a big payoff to the copyright holder I don't see existing wheels getting licensed on the new consoles. A good starter wheel is dfgt for PC. Very good for the money. The new console wheels are not cheap so stick with controller for now...only Sony and Microsoft can fix that problem.RobbieKB said:

The trouble is, once you commit to a PC, you realise you are forever having to buy newer graphics cards, faster processors, more memory, etc. I have been down that road myself and was glad when powerful consoles came along, as you could simply buy that console and stick with it for five years, with little other hardware expense.Once you factor in the price of a new graphics card for a PC, the cost of a new steering wheel doesn't seem so bad.
Cheers,
Steve

From my viewpoint, there is no point in playing a serious driving game with a controller, the experience is horrible. I'd rather not play the game if I can't use a steering wheel.bass2rez said:

I don't think this is the case so much these days. Graphic development has slowed down a lot and much of this is due to consoles and cross platform.Once you factor in the price of a new graphics card for a PC, the cost of a new steering wheel doesn't seem so bad.

I ran my last machine for about 5 years with only 1 GPU upgrade (and that was because it failed) the replacement was about £100. I bought and replaced my PS in the same timescale. Ok, so I was not running max graphics at the end but it was still as good/better than the PS3 generation.
You don't need £500 GPU's that need to be replaced every 6 months. Yes, a gaming PC is going to be more expensive but games are cheaper and it's more flexible at other stuff.

With just over a month to go is there anymore news on how this is going? The physics improving? I'll be getting thinking ps4 so I'm really interested in news on this, can't really find anything out this with my poor google-fu.
No idea on how this works, but if its being released in a few weeks, surely the games must be made or at least in production. So surely the console version should have been done and dusted a while back?Back in the day I'd suspect that was true but so many games come with a day 1 update and updates and patches so regularly being released I'd figured they could burn a decent stable version and then when people plug it in any improvements can be made after and then downloaded on launch day.

I'm keen to hear about developments and opinions as well for similar reasons, as this is one of the main games that is likely to persuade me about getting a next gen console.Without getting into a generic "What's better? PS4 or XBox?" conversation I'd also be curious to hear if anyone has any idea of which would be the better console of the two for running the game, if there are any noticeable at all of course?
Its getting there, PC wise the Formula C is about the best I have driven in terms of feel and physics, hopefully the rest of the field gets to that level.
Also spotted the following in this weeks release notes although they are not in game yet.
* Mercedes CLK-LM
* BMW V12 LMR
* RUF CTR Yellowbird
* McLaren F1 GTR 1997

if you go to youtube and search project cars and change the filter to most recent upload you will get an idea of what stage the game is at at the moment.
Latest build number is around 826. Can notice a big difference from the old videos. Sounds, graphics etc are all pretty much at the point of finished it looks like. The AI looks like it could still use some work, They look good and fairly aggresive, no boring line rancing like in gran turismo, Although i did notice some routine like action from the AI, 3 different opponents went off the same corner at oulton park almost identically running over the grass and rejoining at the same point.
Only thing i dont like is the hand animation on the steering wheel, anything more than half a lock it does this weird almost paling action like in a car park, doesnt look natural at all, The hands move too late to the shifter in relation to the gear change, wheel paddles look solid and the finger animation doesnt line up, But they still may be improved.
The damage looks a little basic compared to say even forza 3, the cars seem to have a small amount of damaged states. The mechanical damage looks quite good, tracking and alignment can be knocked out and you have to compensate.
Graphics looks fantastic, The sunset time on the nurburgring looks absolutely stunning when the rays of sun flicker between the trees and it darkens down behind them.
Its a shame that g27 wont be supported on the ps4, I dont know if il be able to really enjoy it on a controller, Its just not the same

Shame its been put off till mid March. Good job BF4 is such a faultless game else the PS4 would be hardly used. Bought it on the promise of Drive club on the release date, that's been almost a year late and now Pcars is going to be another 6 month wait. Pretty poor show for those that have been promising a deadline and with only weeks left drop it and make it another. I'd not have a job if my deadlines weren't met!
