Was initially sceptical, but this is one of the most enjoyable games I've played in years! The attention to detail is astonishing. And it looks incredible.

Hats off to the developers. This is the game GT badly wants to be. And it's just brought my G25 out of retirement!
Get on the PC threads as we will set up some races soon and perhaps get some lap time comps going, also I posted the tweaker files for FFB which work wonders on my G25, just download them and pop them in your pcars folder in my documents and there is one in there for each car.
Where's that post with the tweaker files? Playing it last night on PC with a G27 and kept getting frustrated at sudden loss of traction with no feel through the sound or steering for what was going on with the car.
Cheers smile

Right now the PS4 version grips and drives lovely with no need for TCS or Stability control tyre heat up much quicker too and much more forgiving when stone cold, back to back the Xbox is twitchy, I've had to have Stability control on all the time and TCS on for wet races.

Visually the stuttering and framerate drops are not in the PS4 version either, also it just looks smoother/nicer, anyone that says there isn't noticeable visual differences between the two are either A: blind or B: on the payrole.

Xbox One desperately needs that incoming patch that I mentioned yesterday.

Alright mate, I have the PS4 version and I have stability on seems a nightmare without, As for wet races I have done a thunderstorm race at brand with a BAC Mono and it is all over the place no control what so ever. Are you using a control or a wheel for this game?

Really enjoying this, can't seem to get on with the BAC Mono though. It either very understeery or loves a cheeky slide, its fun to drive but i just cant ever get a really fast lap out of it, seems to lack downforce?

So after having had it for a few days some thoughts.

On first starting it up and getting into some races my first thought was Wow VERY pretty quickly followed my by second, third and fourth which was f**k, I've spun it into the wall AGAIN, why am I so crap?

For those complaining about it being too "arcadey" not sure what planet you are on but this is the hardest racing game I've played on a console (playing on PS4). Admittedly the PC probably has better sims but this is probably as good as you are going to get on a console. The handling certainly feels realistic if punishing for beginners and this is coming from a GT veteran.

Anyway after a frustrating first day I started to get it and during a race with an M3 GT car, having nailed some perfect laps and corners it finally clicked, this game is AWESOME! However there are some caveats

This isn't an arcade game but it's not a "proper" SIM either. Those expecting to just mash the throttle and fly round corners will be bitterly disappointed and those expecting PC levels of realism will be too. This sits in a happy medium somewhere in the middle which I am happy with but others may not be.

Graphics. It looks amazing, the cars and the environmental effects are top notch. If you want a game to show of your next gen console, this is it.

Sound is very good, not perfect as some cars still sound a bit off but still 10 times better than GT6.

AI is pretty good. Again not perfect as they do still sometimes drive right into you but a vast improvement on the dumb moving procession that is the "AI" in the GT games

Now the down sides. The game is quite buggy, sound dropping off, driving THROUGH your pit board guy and even numerous system crashes to name a few. This is a game made by a smaller development team rather than EA with their massive budgets and it shows. However even the large development houses release bug filled games these days so I'm willing to cut these guys some slack.

Online racing is seems to be full of tts who enjoy nothing more than taking you out of the race. 80% of the games I've played online have been lessons in frustration. However get into a good game, preferably with other PH'ers and it's sublime.

Does anyone know if the LE car park will be availble as DLC at some point in the future? I've just bought an Xbox to play this, I may get strung up by SWMBO if I spend £60+ on a game!

I have only tried the standard tweakers, apparently the Sop ones are really good as well.

Very important to follow his steps and set the wheel up on the logitec profiler. Always have the wheel set to 900deg, the game will then give you the real lock of the car, for road cars it does make it trickier to give it the full Kankkunen but gives you more control.

Also, very important is the fact that the G27 is known for having a massive deadzone (which is why you might be missing the feeling) so download this file:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0omX8glkau_VEMyO...

Ensure your wheel is connected to your PC.
Ensure your Logitech Profiler (or equivalent for other brands) settings are matching what you use in game. E.g. if you use FFB 50 in game, make sure you set FFB strength to 50 in the LT Profiler.

Start the WheelCheck Utility.
Select 'min force' from the dropdown list
Click 'play led'.
Wait for it to finish.
Note the value specified by the utility (bottom left corner)
Start Project CARS
Enter the value you found in the Deadzone Removal Range. E.g. 8% = 0.08 in the game.

You can all do this, but you need to do it first on a PC then plug it in to your PS4/Xbox and adjust the Deadzone removal accordingly

My only gripe at the moment is that there seems to be a lack of cars compared to the number of tracks - are they holding them back to add payable DLC?

I presume it's much easier to add a car than it is a track and that the WMD people are more likely to be able to churn these out but won't each need to be licensed before we get to touch it? I was just hoping for more conventional sports cars to mess around it rather than out and out racers. It's nice to pop up the US coast in a Zonda but it would be great to be able to do the same in road versions of the race cars we have on there already and some other showroom metal from the past and current days.

Oh and I haven't managed to play a single online race, it just sits there trying to join but then never does.

The "invalidated lap" thing could do with some tweaking too IMO, I'm fine for this to kick in when people are obviously cutting corners to improve times but if I spin off on the 2nd corner and lose time anyway (which I do a lot it seems) I'd still like my (poor) lap to count. Had a few Clio Cup races where I only managed one actual clean lap and a few where I went off slightly with no gain to me, this was fine in the first race but screwed me big time in the 2nd where the 2nd fastest lap is used for grid positions.

Just about to move on to the first Ginetta races after winning the Clio championship, bit concerned about RWD at the moment.

Agree on all the above, the bugs will get ironed out (I only had the PC version where a lot but not all of the bugs were caught) and the AI and FPS drops will improve.

I also think this has the ability to be an excellent full on sim as well as a medium ground, when you look at the harder core Rfactor 2 and to some extent AC on the PC, you can see there are not that many differences. AC offers less in most terms but is only slightly ahead for me in FFB and usability (setting up your wheel/pad), Rfactor 2 has the real road effects and excellent FFB currently but is way behind both in polish and graphics. Both the above also have community made stuff, some of which will be very impressive and gets round the need to buy licences (damn you EA stop hogging the pork, we need a 935!!!!).

Pcars really does have an excellent and highly advanced physics, tyre model and FFB system, but I think they have not yet hit their potential, I hope given time they will do.

The most frustrating thing for me has been seeing everyone struggle to get a set up with pad and wheel where they are getting the most out of the game which is annoying that it was not made easier.

There are however some cracking cars still to come smile

I'm fairly sure that's another bug, I've had it a few times and seen people on chat complaining as they're still stuck in the lobby when the rest of us are on track.

I only did about 3 laps in the Clios, I just got bored. The G40 is a nice little car to drive though, not enough power for RWD to be much of an issue in the dry.
I did the first race at Oulton yesterday, just be a bit careful through Druids as it doesn't really like a trailing throttle much.

I'm still making my mind up about this game, it just seems a little inconsistent. There are quite a few bugs, but at times it's fun and feels fairly realistic.
But I tried one or two powerful cars in the wet and the grip and traction levels are just way too high IMO.

I can see myself playing this with a few of the cars that feel right for fun, but playing AC most of the time for realism and challenge.
It's certainly more realistic and difficult than Gran Turismo / Forza but compare it to a C9 or Cobra in AC with a dusty track surface - that's a challenge.

It definitely seems like a work on progress rather than the finished article but what's there is already way better to play than GT6 so hopefully it can only get better.

Top priorities are to iron out some of the very obvious bugs in the game which really should have been caught during testing as it makes the game feel a bit "amateurish" and to make it easier for people to set up the controls properly. The default set-up is waaayyyy off for pad and wheel. Some sort of set-up wizard which you can run and which allows you to instantly test your changes on the fly would be ideal.

Oh and yes, please do whatever you need to do to get proper Porsche cars in the game. Ruf's are nice but I'm kind of sick to death of them being used instead of the real deal.

Can someone with a wheel (PC version) do a no assists lap of Brands Hatch indy in the Sierra RS500 please and post their time / times?

Just had a go with default settings on a wheel I dragged out the loft and am wondering if it's not too bad or utterly shocking!

Sorry not sure if im being a bit thick but i dont fully understand these steps.
So i got the Sop tweakers on, FFB set to 100 in both the utility an game with dead zone set to 0 also in game. So i have run the utility and it has said "Your maximum value for SteeringFFBBaseOffset is 17.5% (1750)"
So what do input the value of 0.17 in to in game?
