I think that they would be in for a shock.

Yup, Garage in the UK seems kinda pointless, although the natural choice being that the majority here will live there.

I went with Birmingham and tbh, I've just been driving around from job to job on the continent. Not been back to the UK for a while now and not been back to my base once since I set it up. I do have 2 other drivers though who are based out of it.

Only downside I can see to having one in the UK is having to pay ferry costs every time you have a job that goes in and out of the country, otherwise I see no issue.

Is there any reason to visit one's garage?

Not that I can see. I think it's just there so you can employ other drivers rather than somewhere to visit.

I don't even recall even going back to Birmingham since I started the game.

Apparently when you upgrade to the bigger garage you get a diesel pump that gives you much cheaper diesel. So if you have multiple garages around Europe makes sense to go there.

I've left my Manchester base allocated to my truck and then setup another garage in Frankfurt with currently space for 3 drivers. I've just taken on my first staff member as well (no loans so far!).

Time to spend some money on the Volvo I think, it needs more wheels, a bigger engine and a paint job!

Are people using manual or auto? I got bored with the manual (using an xbox controller) as I was never in the right gear and its a pain pulling away so switched to auto. Much better.

Using a keyboard so only stick with auto. Is there a free roam camera I can use so I can look at every aspect of my lorry whilst driving?

Try starting in second and taking the gears two at a time till you get to 8th or so, that seems to pick up speed the fastest.

Bloody women! They don't get it at all do they.

Me: Going to fire a driver, he's only earn't 3 euros.
Her: How long has he been working for you?
Me: Couple of days.
Her: That's a. bit harsh, give him a couple more days, he may have a family.
Me: You know he is only a virtual computer driver?
Her: Oh ok.

Then the other comment, so let me get this right, you complain about other drivers and traffic all day and then play a game with lots of miles of boring motorways and lots of traffic in towns, why?

My missus mocked me for a good 10 minutes when she found me doing a stint from edinburgh to paris the other night.

She didn't quite understand when I told her I didnt want to crash into the other cars and cause a pile up...

"I'm on a job, I can't just smash my lorry up"...

That didn't go down well...

She will never understand laugh

Only on PH, people driving virtual trucks, and complaining like the devil about virtual car drivers. Thankfully I haven't seen any cyclists yet.

The satnav must have been designed by Land Rover, having deliberately chosen a different ferry route Hoek-Harwich vs the Ijmuiden-Newcastle in the directions, it didn't half get a strop on for a while until almost at Europoort then it relented.

Got a bit of a problem with mine... when I'm reversing I can't stop (forward key simply accelerates it going backwards). I have to let the truck roll into something at idle, then it will select forwards. Didn't happen yesterday, so I don't know what's going on.

Other than that, here are my screenshots. Only using onboard graphics at the moment, so they're not much cop. New graphics card beckons though.

My first truck, bought outright, cost about £145,000 I think, although it's specced differently to standard. Volvo FH16, 700hp, 3150nm, Sunlight Silver:

I used to get that when I installed the real physics mod, and I got that again due to another mod, but I'm not sure which yet. I don't know how to sort it I'm afraid...

Have you tried braking with the normal brakes? wink

Also, there's the handbrake on spacebar and engine braking on B, IIRC - you could try those.

I used to get similar when I had the fatigue turned on. Turned off its fine, plus I never have to stop for breaks now either.

Maybe your driver is tired and has forgotten where the pedal is. My keys would become totally unresponsive after doing maybe 10-15 mins, throttle on, of motorway driving. I would then plough into the back of the cars infront when the brakes wouldnt work. Fatigue off and it doesnt do it any more.

Happened to me too with the last update, I checked and there was a new version of the mod out that then fixed it. That was a two weeks ago now, so perhaps there's been a new update since.

I'm earning comfortable money now from my drivers - got enough saved up - so i'm going around the cities discovering the question marks.

its something i blame on my xbox days - 100% discovery on the road/places.
