Thought I’d bump this seeing as ATS has come out and updates for this one will be slower.

These are all the mods that I’ve been running on ETS2, there are a few points to note.
It’s important not to overload the game with too many as it will load a lot slower and generally need more RAM. I have gone abit overboard with some bits and pieces but the below seems to be a good middle ground having removing some trucks.

It’s also important to remember than when there is a major update (when they change the version number e.g. going from v1.21 -> v1.22) you will need to either stop the update or roll it back to the version you were playing on. This is because major updates usually break something and you’ll get glitches, trucks not loading or worse when you’re nearing a destination and whole towns will crash! You can usually update pretty quickly as the modders update their mods to fit with the new version but if you don’t it can get to a stage where you’ll have to start a new profile and that is never any fun at all!

I’ll go over each mod separately and list their pro’s and con’s including a picture or two of some of the more interesting ones. Finally I’ll add links to all ones that come from the scs forums which are the official ETS2 community pages.

S1. Trucks

Sub1. European Trucks
These are generally reworked or improved versions of the trucks already in the game;

S1P1. DAF XF E6 by Ohaha
http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=...

This is a rework of a truck already in the original game, it adds lots of interchangeable parts and visual improvements.
Good points:
- Strong set of engines
- Visual changes well done and integrate well with the game
- Engine/gearbox matching is well thought out
Bad points:
- Sound is not updated it’s so quiet
- Unable to change the text on the light boxes easily
I also add in the heavy haulage chassis (see tuning/parts section) and I can pull pretty much anything in the game without any handling issues

ets2_00030 by Tom P, on Flickr

S1P2. Scania RJL & T by RJL
http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=... - T
http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=... - R

Will lump these two together as they are from the same author and the only real change is the body. These two are modification to the standard R and a whole new truck with the T. Both include a vast array of new light mounts and light options on top of all the body and engine upgrades. These two are a significant boost to the games truck options.
Good points:
- Lots of modifications including 10x4 heavy haulage chassis’
- Scania being the most popular truck has lots of further additions you can add to increase your options from “loads” to “st loads”
- Tons of skins available – my favourite http://ets2.lt/en/scania-rstreamline-rjl-scania-bl...
Bad points:
- The gearbox needs a mod as it’s really not matched and therefore anything over 55t it will really struggle with any sort of incline
- Some of the accessories can “leak” occasionally onto other trucks

ets2_00181 by Tom P, on Flickr

ets2_00550 by Tom P, on Flickr

S1P3. Volvo FH13 by Ohaha
http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=...
Another Ohaha mod with this Standalone truck, lots of chassis and engine mods. If you’re looking for the cheapest way into a heavy duty truck then this is the one for you.
Good points:
- Lots of power and good 8x4 chassis options
- Exterior is well done with great detail
Bad points:
- Can conflict very easily with other mods so needs to be set very high priority
- Volvo have some pretty terrible brakes and this is no different

S1P4. Scania 143m by equalizer
http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=...

This is an oldie truck for those with a nostalgic disposition. The author is very receptive to new ideas so long as they check out historically and executes them very well. The truck itself has strong performance upto about 30t then it begins to struggle but matches real life.
Good points:
- Well executed, lots of options to change the look
- Goes really well with this skinpack (number 13) http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=...
Bad points:
- Dealer location conflict with the RJL Scania’s forces you to mess around with the mod file
- Separation of different visual component only just starting

ets2_00713 by Tom P, on Flickr

S1P5. Other trucks I’ve run

Just 4 more that I’ve run but now sold as they were just clogging up my game
MAN TGA – well done mod of an early truck / not that interesting http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=...
MAN TGX Euro 6 – heavy haulage chassis / not that powerful http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=...
DAF XF by 50keda – great update for the old square XF / not a patch on the Ohaha E6 http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=...
Mercedes Actros parts – mild update for the Mercedes / just more parts http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=...

Sub2. American/Australian trucks
Here are the US/AUS trucks I run, these are my favourite and my 5 berth garage for just me only has the below

S2P1: Freightliner FLB by odd_fellow (aka Thomas)
http://ets2.lt/en/freightliner-flb-1-0/
A good mod with lots of tuning and a great selection of engines to help you power along. It’s quite a low down cab-over truck and is therefore best described as a pocket-rocket in the trucking world. Good points:
- Looks great and has lots of skins available for it
- Amazing performance, can pull 55t with ease despite not having a heavy haul chassis
- Sounds brilliant!
- Cheap
- Good handling
Bad points:
- Bumpers/Bars could be done better
ets2_00609 by Tom P, on Flickr

S2P2: Freightliner Argosy by odd_fellow (aka Thomas)
http://ets2.lt/en/freightliner-argosy-reworked-v2-...

This is one of my top 3 trucks, I love the noise the look and that it’s a relatively unpopular truck means you don’t see it often in WoT gallery. It’s also easily modified to accept more lights and has a good spread of light fixing points on the grill/bars/bumpers
Good points:
- Strong engine/Chassis, can haul up to 45t with ease
- Able to be updated with ease to suit your needs
- Great handling
Bad points:
- Struggles on some hills with anything more that 50t’s
- The roof on the mod can look awkward with some low down trailers

ets2_00499 by Tom P, on Flickr

S2P3: Peterbilt 389 by Viper2
http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=...
This is the daddy of all free mods out there for non-euro trucks. With a massive range of customisation and cabs/chassis (including an 8x4 lift axle version) makes this a wonderful mod for you and I would thoroughly recommend if you only get one mod it’s this one. Again this is in my top 3 truck mods.
There are also a huge amount of skins for this truck, I’ve gotten the most from here http://www.paulyets2skins.co.uk/home.html with this one as an extra one I love the look of.
Good points:
- Lots of customisable options
- Strong engines, can haul around 100t+ with the biggest engine
- Good sound
- Proper US handling
Bad points:
- Proper US handling
- Axle comes through on the lift axle, feedback says it will be sorted soon ?
ets2_00664 by Tom P, on Flickr

S2P4: Kenworth K200 by RTA HD trucks
http://hd-truck.com/kenworth-k200/
This is going to be a controversial one I imagine as this is one of only a few paid mods you can get for ETS2, and they cost a fair amount for what is basically a bunch of pixels. They are however licensed by Kenworth to these guys so they are highly accurate. You do of course get free updates for life and access to the forum where you can make requests or see changes that other people have done. This is actually my favourite truck available and in only a few weeks racked up thousands of miles
Good points:
- Incredibly details truck
- Strong engine range & chassis options
- Amazing sound
- Great handling
Bad points:
- Not much you can do regarding additional lights
- Files locked so you can’t edit, oppressive policing if anyone uploads them to a free site

ets2_00726 by Tom P, on Flickr

ets2_00751 by Tom P, on Flickr

S2P5: Kenworth T908
http://hd-truck.com/kenworth-t908/
Another of the RTA paid mods, again it’s fantastically details and true to life. Personally I don’t like this truck as the 389 is just so good it seems a waste to use this one. But if you like the long nose and want something fully licensed and highly detailed then fill your boots.
Good points:
- Great sound
- Amazing detail
Bad Points
- Not that powerful (45t max)
- Lack of accessory spaces

Others I’ve tried are as follows
Kenworth W900 & W900L – was fine, bit plain, others above do it better. The 900L would crash as it needs the W900 v2.0 base which is really hard to get a good working version of.
Freightliner Classic XL – tried to get it working but it argues with my other freightliners in the dealer network, gave up as not that interesting compared to the Peterbilt.

Traffic & Trailers

There is only really one source for anything where you want to change the trucks/cargo/traffic and that is Jazzycat’s mods. He has a whole range and is on the scs forums, he’s also been doing it ages so knows his salt and therefore is abit abrupt with people who have issues as like here with the constant “what car?” threads.
I use the following:

Ai traffic http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=177&t... – replaces all the ai traffic with more real life cars and vans. He’s recently updated it to include cars with trailers/caravan’s for that authentic traffic jam feel

Truck Traffic http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=177&t... – This updates all the truck cabs in traffic that you see out and about with lots of different ones from old trucks to new ones even things like the RJL ones etc.

Trailers & Cargo http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=... – this replaces all the regular cargo trailers with 116 new trailers, 453 new cargos, 473 traffic trailers and over 2000 skins for trailers. The only issue is that the normal trailers can get lost in the mix so those last few achievements in steam can be quite hard to get. You can get some proper fun loads to haul: ets2_00073 by Tom P, on Flickr

Military Cargo http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=... – in addition to the trailers and cargo pack this will add a bunch of trailers with military type cargo such as tanks/jeeps/missile launchers etc. ets2_00464 by Tom P, on Flickr

Railway cargo http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=... – same as the military one, adds a host of trailers with train related loads. From box cars to the full 173t diesel engine (only pulled this once with my Volvo). ets2_00393 by Tom P, on Flickr

Tuning/Parts

Skins - there are lots of places to get skins but the best is the scs forums themselves.

Scania remoled – this adds loads of lights and other grill plaques (e.g. TIR panel) along with new lightbars and side panels etc. This can also be put onto other mods, like the red lights on the front of my Argosy & K200 http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=175&t...

50keda Real wheels & tyres – these are two great mods, the first is the real wheels so adds a load of alcoa wheel trims of different styles and sized for each European brand truck (it won’t over US/AUS ones) and has a set of tyres which have real prices/wear/fuel ratings.
The tyres download adds in a load of tyres that fit onto all size rims and gives you a lot more options including winter tyres and have slightly less harsh wear/fuel ratings.
Wheels – http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=...
Tyres – http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=...

Kriechbaum Scania \8/ sound mod - massive improvement to all your V8 Scania's which makes your Scania the most awesome sounding Euro-truck available http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=...

DaStig Goodyear tyre writing mod – this paints the Goodyear Marathon text on all of the 50ker real tyres and looks great. You get 3 options and you only need to load the one you want to use (eg. Filled or Outline). http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=...

Powerkasi light mod – adds some really high def lights to the game, can be used on multiple trucks e.g my K200. http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=175&t...

Powerkasi Scania update – assorted skirts and side pods and a few side lights/blinker to the RJL Scania R & T. http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=175&t...

GTM Mike’s P & G cabs for Scania – provides extra cab types for RJL’s Scania R mod and is very good. You can now select day/overnight/short/topline cabs based on the R’s chassis. All are very cheap too and you can make them look quite cool. http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=...

Abbastreppas flares mod – a vast improvement to the look of lights for everything in the game, street lights/your trucks/ai trucks/traffic. http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=...

Ohaha DAF XF E6 heavy haul chassis – this gives you a couple of options of heavy haulage chassis’ for Ohaha’s DAF E6 rework mod. It’s actually very good and one of the longest serving mods I’ve had. With the update and this you can haul almost anything in the game and turns the DAF into a great all-rounder. Only the Peterbilt 389 can haul heavier and the Volvo FH13 can haul up steeper gradients. Basically if you have Ohaha’s DAF, you have to get this mod: http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=...

Not for a while, tried it a while back. Would it allow sound mods? Might be up for a convoy but not this weekend.

Don't think they allow any mods in mp do they? If they allow your own paintjobs then that's enough to get me interested smile

MP is generally 'Vanilla' but i think it will still work if you have a visual mod (paint jobs/lighting)

You dont get that many idiots in MP, the majority are there with a common interest, but there are strict rules so make sure you check them out first.

Yep. thats it.

Be aware that this will muck up your exisitng save, the server time does not pause. If your current save is say on day 25 and you have a driver employed, when you load up in multiplayer the server is on say day 1000 and you get all the cash your driver has earnt in that time! (nice, but ruins your single player save) i would recommend setting up a new profile for Multiplayer.

Theres a Forum on the link above and people will 'host' a convoy, they post details of start location and time as well as end location and any other requirements (mic requirement, or type of truck etc) and preffered language (mostly english, but some French etc) You will normally have one or two players in Skoda Octavias who go ahead to each junction to direct you down the correct route. they last an hour or two and are great fun once you get going.

We can of course arrange our own convoys on here if there is enough interest.

Do you have to run the latest version? I'm still on 1.24 as I don't want to let go of the 50keda DAF XF. If I can save down my current file with all mods removed I'd be up for it.

Whether I join in or not would anyone here like a paint job done? Or a PH fleet paintjob? Here's some of my work in ETS2 so far;

I dont know about which version is required, mine stays upto date automatically.

for skins, all your designs are awesome but i particually like this one:

Just wish my graphics hardware was able to show it at its best frown
(GT 740 in 1360)

I tend to favour the Iveco Stralis and Volvo FH16 models, not sure why, just like how they look.

A PH skin would look awesome, A huge smiley covering the front with 'trucking matters' along the top or on the side smile

I think I already tried this a year ago so already got a dedicated multiplier save for it, sadly no employed drivers so not exactly overflowing with cash. I've just bought a second truck and driver so see how it goes.

Plus my base of operations is in Aberdeen, which is pretty much the most remote place in the game tumbleweed

All my skins are based on real life ones, I've just taken the names off an put my own in-game company on instead.

If you have any particular Iveco or Volvo FH paint job you like then put pictures of them up here or send me a link and I can put them on the relevant truck if you like?

For the PH one I could do that, what would be the PH truck? I could also put a picture of some custard somewhere wink

What about sound mods? I've got a few installed mods in the Single player mode, but these don't appear when I open the multiplayer. I've looked online but the information on modding with TruckersMP is almost non-existent. After some digging I managed to uncover this https://forum.truckersmp.com/index.php?/topic/6812... I'd assume any mods that don't appear here won't appear in the game?

Here is the requirements, you want to try and achieve the 'recomended' over the minimum.

I have no idea about modding, is it easy to make it fit other trucks or is it move involved than just copy and pasting?

It's abit more involved but that particular design could be put on another truck relatively easy would take a couple of nights to do RJL's Scania T/R though, however I wouldn't want to put it on all of them!

Here is what it looks like when you are working on it in photoshop (or whatever you use)

If you had a particular paint job you wanted to do then post a pic up or message me and if it's not too complicated then I could probably do it for you and put it onto the truck you wanted, here is my thread on the scs forums with all the skins I've ever done:
http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=193&t...
