12 minutes of gameplay footage will be put on IGN at 8PM BST.

Praise the Sun!

Don't mess with the mushroom people.

A bit worrying that they were talking about making it more accessible and Miyazaki (sp?) isn't working on it... I have hope though, they had better not mess this up!

Let's hope they can at least try to make a port to PC that works without significant modding this time rather than the utter horror they inflicted on people

Hopefully it will still be tough as nails, but doable if you try. Going back to it and starting again last year (when I finished it) was a joy.

The DLC is brilliant. It has the best boss in the game in it.

Do the main game, before you fight Sif, do the DLC and beat Artorias. Then go and visit Sif. Brilliant. The small changes make such a difference to what was already an awesome boss fight.

They also said in the Q&A that they want a sense of satisfaction for overcoming difficulties. That the game won't be more accessible but more clear.

They also said they were sticking with the Dark Souls method of storytelling, which is brilliant news. Dark Souls had a very deep lore behind it, it just wasn't spoon fed to you.

Here's the video

This is pretty much the sole reason that I've held onto my 360 after buying an X1.

Dark Souls was the Game of the Generation for me - my proudest completion in terms of getting all the achievements, even if it did take me nearly two years from release (and a gap of 9 months after rage-quitting soon after release in abject frustration at Capra!).

Looking forward to this a great deal!

I've got my 360 hanging round as a Netflix and 4OD box, though the plan was always to have it there ready for Dark Souls 2. The developers today have said they haven't yet thought about a next generation version, though I would be extremely surprised if it didn't appear on the Xbox One at some point.

I am beyond excited about this now. The sweet, sweet punishment it dished out was incredibly addictive, and so satisfying was the moment you realised you'd cracked the formula required to make progress. I just hope the difficulty is more consistent this time, as I thought the first third was considerably more difficult than what came later. Once you've got your build heading in the right direction, there isn't a great deal to stop your progress.

I never completed the first one, but I did love it. SO difficult. The first boss must have took me at least 25 shots, wish I kept with it. Some of the pvp builds on youtube are so dam impressive

I've just got the first one as it's a bargain £15 on shopto.

The combat is very satisfying; the bosses are brilliant. I can see how you can lose hours of your life to this!

Brilliant game.

The achievement list is out, which gives an insight into the game:

http://www.exophase.com/game/dark-souls-2-xbox/ach...

It does come with a spoiler warning, but frankly it doesn't give much away. It makes for interesting reading though. The Bonfire achievements appear to show the bosses of those areas. The Iron Keep appears to be that massive Ifrit-esque fire demon, and the Brightstone Cove boss looks pretty mean too.

There are many, many covenants to find and there are now four classes of spell, namely sorcery, hexes, miracles and pyromancy. It'd be interesting to know how the hexes will work!

Graphically it looks pretty disappointing, doesn't even look as though it's stressing current Gen consoles.

Is it being released on the next gen ones if not it seems an odd decision to release for current gen now?

I've always thought Dark Souls a very pretty thing to look at. It has a very cool colour palette and a distinct, clean visual style. It's fantastic - but then I'm not one to obsess over graphics for the sake of graphics. I'd certainly rather have the development manpower spent on adding and balancing content than polishing a few polygons.

It will no doubt come to the XB1 at some point, though the developers have said in a recent interview that they 'haven't thought about' a next-gen release. I suspect that isn't entirely true and it may well come out on the XB1 next year with some DLC tagged in like the 'Prepare to Die' edition.

For those on Xbox, it's an even more bargainacious £3.74 on Live Marketplace for the next week.

Here is some interesting reading for anyone who has completed Dark Souls. It does contain some mild spoilers about the first game, and offers nothing concrete on the second, though it does give rise to some interesting speculation, particularly the question of 'is Dark Souls 2 a prequel?'.

Given the abundance of dragons and giants, it could well be!

The first set of player designed shields are out. I particularly like the Guardian Shield.

If there is one thing concerning me about this game, it is this. Dark Souls was so good because it was a major success in terms of balancing. Most of the game was incredibly well balanced, and felt fair as a result. Much like old Ninja Gaiden, it would beat you down but you only had yourself to blame. The invasions threw all the careful balancing out of the window, and turned the game into a pot-luck ramble where you'd get the occasional invader backstabbing you and sending you back to the bonfire.

However, you could avoid this by remaining hollow. Now it seems that being hollow will not act as an opt-out buffer against PVP invasions. Whilst the developers say they have balanced the game to a minute degree, I doubt it will take long before persistent invaders have figured out exploits like the teleport/backstab move from the last game. At least it sounds as though this 'police force' could provide a useful tool against invaders. I'd hate to have to pull my internet connection for the sake of enjoying the game in a balanced fashion.

I really should trust the development team to make the right choice, knowing that they have made the game. But my concern still exists because it was the one part of Dark Souls that absolutely sucked.

I'm really looking forward to this, I've been playing the first Dark Souls again after purchasing it for £4 on Xbox Live the other day. I've been enjoying it much more this time around, although the grinding is a bit dull, I'm not finding it to be such a ballache this time around, I've got more time for it and I'm loving it this time around. Well, hating the frustration and savouring the elation when I overcome the hard parts. After a good grinding session in the Darkroot garden, the black knights are crushed underfoot like regular enemies, and the Moonlight Butterfly boss was killed on the second attempt. Onwards and upwards!

I'm even more excited about the second game now, it should be a belter.
