They've already implied that the 360 will continue to be sold. They also stated categorically that there would be some exciting game announcements at E3 for the 360.

Remember too that there are always shipping issues for new hardware plus some people won't want or may not be able to buy XBOX ONE for sometime. Do you think it makes business sense to alienate these FUTURE customers??

I know you posted your reply at 3am but please think it through next time!

I posted my reply at lunchtime, and I did think it through.

Launch titles are all about the exclusivity, otherwise people would wait longer to upgrade. That doesn't necessarily benefit Turn10 but does Microsoft.

These consoles now are not about making profit from the hardware, it's about achieving mass market penetration for subscription based services.

Yes this move might alienate a few lower income fanboys, but let's face it - they will buy one sooner or later.

Fair point about people buying it eventually. Of course they want users to switch as soon as possible but there are over 30million xbox users out there and there is no way in hell Microsoft can manufacture and ship enough ONE's to bring in the equivalent cashflow that exists currently so i think they'll take the opportunity to harvest some more cash from this generation for the next 18-24months.

I may turn out to be totally wrong but i believe my theory is sound!

However, just in case.....getmecoat

I can't believe it will appear in any form on the 360.

I want forza5 more than anything else I saw (including the actual console). If it came out on the 360 is just get it for that. Then I would possibly by the console at some point later.

Microsoft would have cost themselves £400 now.

If it doesn't come out for the 360, ill buy the console and forza5 now. It works with every launch title the same.

Isn't there a difference of about 4 months in their release dates?

I hope Forza 5 Features some off road tracks. Not necessarily because I'm a massive rally fan, but because there's plenty of rubbish surfaces located on most of the tracks, grass and Ice-Slick run-off being the worst.

Yes that's what I mean, it has to come out for the Xbox so will come out on the 360, but as I understand it the games are not backward compatible so they will also have to release on the One when it comes out.

Again.. less Horizon, more FM4.
With the extra power of the Xbox One, can we now hope for open wheeled cars ie Caterham and Ariel?

Needs to improve the AI a huge amount from Forza 4. In Forza 4 the AI races on the racing line and if your car happens to be there, there'll be an accident. There's no concept of creating space. GT doesn't do it too well either.
Don't fully agree with that. The AI is good and gives you space if you drive like a real racer would. If you go diving in from miles back then they turn in on you.

Presumably they are only designed to react to what is going on in a certain sized bubble around them and not the race as a whole. This would explain why if you park sideways on the track they just plough on into you as they are only aware you are there 30ft before they hit you so can't do any avoiding action.

You can't make this bubble too large to account for all late lunge circumstances or the AI will see you coming from 75ft away and dive off out of the way. Would be like racing a load of people from a Castle Combe Action Day. Not particularly challenging but very unpredictable and frustrating.

Did I watch the right trailer??? The FM5 video certainly does not look next gen to me, still looks very similar in terms of visuals to FM4 on the 360.

If this is next gen then I can't say I'm that impressed to be honest. frown

After the epic fail of Horizon I would have thought the 1st thing they did would appeal to their FM fan base that they lost with Horizon, showing street racing and drifting doesn't do that, a race with a handful of cars on a 'new' track that people would instantly recognise ie Bathurst would get for more peoples juices flowing. I don't doubt it will be a great game and bu I hope it leans towards FM4 as a base rather than Horizon.
I agree, I hope it's more FM4 than horizon, but I found the idea of writing it off completely on 5 seconds of footage on a game that's not going to be out for at least 6months laughable.

Sadly I don't think 'we' the mature realism gamers really matter to Microsoft or Sony. They want kids screaming and holding their breath or moaning that everyone in their class has the latest new game and that they 'must' have it.

That's where they get all their money from. Would mind a hint of horizon's 'cruise about' but in purely a race mode. Not defining the game.

Did you watch the same video as me? It's hardly a drift fest? There is one artistic slide to show off the slow mo graphics. I LOVE that you can see the metallic in the paint!! Looks amazing.

Just watched this, bit of a crap video tbh...I hope they have grip levels better...unlike the driving on plastic tyres you get from Forza4

Racing cleanly with the Forza AI (i.e. no insane lunges up the inside or blatant black-flag moves) reveals two problems with it that make close racing harder than it ought to be.

The first is that it isn't very good at detecting cars to the side - you can outbrake an opponent, go round the outside through the corner about three quarters of a car length ahead, then as you're getting on to the straight the AI car will go to the widest point of its line and slam into you with a perfect PIT manoeuvre. You need to be fully ahead for it to respect your car, having track position isn't enough.

The second and far larger problem is its insistence on brake-testing. It gets a bit better at the higher difficulty levels but you simply cannot follow an AI car closely into a corner without it slamming hard on the brakes at some completely illogical point. This seems to be a uniquely Forza problem, I've had plenty of close races in (to pick one example) GT Legends without the sudden mid-corner emergency stops.

Even if it is going faster than the AI spline says it should be at that point, I think it would be far more satisfying to let the computer car overcook things a bit and have a small wiggle; it's pretty good at catching slides and this would be more realistic than the canned "forgetting to brake" crashes the AI sometimes has when under pressure.

We all know how much turn10 love our money and there are a lot of people who won't go out and buy the XBOX 1 for the first year or so. I don't think they'll miss the opportunity to squeeze a few more quid out of the 360!
But it is produced by Microsoft Studios, and clearly Microsoft have seen that if they put a headline title along with the launch of the console plenty of mugs that would have waited for the price to come down and the hardware kinks ironed out will instead be in that long, long queue waiting to get their hands on the console ASAP just to play this game. I know because I am one of those mugs.

Very clever considering the pap that usually is available for new consoles at launch.

I think the rendered slow motion cut scene trailer looked a little project Gotham racing to me.
Very very pretty, but very arcade game 'wow' like.

I think it comes to something when the trailer for GT6 impressed me more... And that is a PS3 title (not PS4) and the trailer was made up entirely of in game replay footage.

Love forza games (I even enjoy the occasional blast on horizon still) but this reveal did nothing for me.

Ps. This thread was started May 1st so to my mind should be the official thread. Mods can we close/merge the other one created yesterday into here?

Put the P1 in Forza 4 and I'm pretty sure I could replicate those pictures.

Still, can't wait!

I thought it looked pretty epic. Very pretty, we know they know how to sort out dynamics and build a good game. It's pretty much the only thing that will tempt me to get an Xbox one, to be honest.

In my mind, Microsoft have won the console wars first battle with announcing this, whilst GT6 languishes on PS3.

Bring it on!
Although the GT6 announce trailer was actual game footage and IMO looked even nicer? The forza5 trailer looked to be rendered and no better than forza4 apart from some very pretty metallic paint effects.

Driveclub (the PS4 launch racing title) blows that forza5 video out of the water. God know what GT7 will look like, but to win forza5 will have to an exceptional leap IMO.

At the moment that small 'exciting' announce video did not look nex gen enough for me. Can't help feeling that all this excitement about a video that showed us basically nothing is a bit emperors new clothes.

Roll on E3 where I will be happy to be proved wrong... If they can.

Ps. GT6 may have to 'languish' back on the PS3, but at least that means people won't have to pay £400+ to play it when it comes out.

have a crack at getting any of the forza cars to look that good. I think the depth and smoothness of the background will be impossible to replicate.

Pre-ordered the console and game last night smile

ETA: ref Civpilot saying about drive club, watching that with HUGE interest.
