Just saw that Beta is free and available to everyone, worth bothering with though?
It is free and it is very good, especially if you played\enjoyed Halo but you will need to use a beta download code, there are plenty on page 5 for the PS4.

Be aware though that the Beta finishes in about 3 days.

Incorrect, its now fully open to everyone, no code needed.

Oh, didn't know that. Weird that they've opened it up to everyone now. They obviously want to give it a proper hammering prior to release. I'm hoping they actually extend the beta by a week or two tbh.

I thought it was odd the beta was just open to people who had ordered it, you'd think the beta release is about convincing the rest to buy it.

Or is the beta more about testing than creating more orders of the game?

It's testing. Now that they've flung it open they'll have ironed out the bulk of the kinks, be planning the tech updates and improvements, and giving the servers a good spanking to make sure they don't fall over too swiftly.

This. It could put people off if it's a poor experience.

First impressions, not bowled over but it looks like it's got a ton of depth that the beta barely scratches the surface of.

It's pretty, very pretty in places. Very Halo feeling, not amazed by the shooting mechanics but appreciate others love it. Over all I'm thinking it's probably going to be worth a punt I reckon.

What level are you? The Devils Lair is supposed to be tackled once you reach level 6 at the least where you (and your weapons) are a bit more powerful. It still takes a long time, just not as long as if you are at lower levels. The bosses also go through different movement cycles and there are times you can do extra damage.

On the spider for example, if you concentrate on one leg until you blow it up, it drops to the floor and a flashing red bit is exposed behind the head which you can pummel for lots of extra damage.

Loving the crucible now and can actually hold my own and win a few rounds BUT the Hunter is definitely underpowered compared to the other two classes.
Think I was lvl 6 or 7, I got crap loot off it though.

I'm lvl 8 now with not much to do, can you buy any of the special loot in the Beta? It all seems to need lvl 10+ to use frown

I was pretty sceptical about this thinking it'd be more MW type gaming but I really enjoyed the couple of hours I spent with it yesterday, will be buying it for sure. One thing I couldn't work out is how / where to get into the crucible.

I've spoken to the 2 crucible vendors near where the advisers are in the tower but neither of them have the option. I think I'm Level 4, does it become available later?

Cheers in advance

I like it, but it's very Halo-esque. I suppose that shouldn't be surprising really...

Really enjoying this just now, like a cross between halo and borderlands.

Once the full game comes out and we see the full scale of the game it will be excellent

Had a little go last night, agree, this has potential, don't like futuristic stuff usually but I like the way this is going, pre order shall be made.

I'm on the fence - don't think I'll order until I've seen what the full game is like.

It's not bad, looks gorgeous at times but I'm not sold on the actual gameplay. It's very haloesque, a bit generic. I'm willing to give it a chance, but nothing I've seen so far has me itching to play it.
It kind of reminds me of killzone in many respects.

Have to agree a lot of the gameplay does lean towards Halo, but honestly i think that's a good thing. Its a tough thing to pull off MMO and FPS but so far absolutely loving it. There seems to be a good mix of some of the best bits from other FPS multiplayer modes. A definite buy for me.

Long term, without more variety to the game modes or mission selection (Phantasy Star Online mission system would be good), i could see it getting boring after a few weeks. Also hope they include the Halo replay system.

Definitely enjoyed the BETA and will more than likely buy it depending on who else picks it up .. 100% better when in fire teams. The fact I lost 4 hours without spotting it (went for a quick 30 min play) is always a good sign.

Wont pre order though as far too burned on BF4 and so far nothing in the pre order is compelling me.
