Where's the best place to pre-order this then? Any good deals going? At the moment I am torn between getting this on the PS4 or the PC although it will probably be the PS4 for two reasons.
1) Not sure my existing gaming laptop will run this at the speed\resolution I'd like.
2) The PS4 isn't getting much use at the moment as I'm bored of the 2 decent games that have been released for it so far. I am hoping this is the killer app that will make my £350 investment in the PS4 worthwhile.

Sony paid a lot of money for timed exclusives...greater beta access is one of those.
I've never understood the fanfare over beta sessions. I appreciate some people might like to the fun of stress testing the game just before it's final tweak, but I've always found them a good way of spoiling what comes later for the most part. I pre ordered it a while back on Game for Xbox One for about £45. Keep getting emails saying the price has gone up buy you still pay the same for pre ordering it!
Got another email as well telling me I can upgrade to the other versions, £95 one and £150 one!
They both come with the first 2 expansion packs I think, anybody have any idea what they will cost solo though?

I'm going to use as a buying decision to see if I'm interested in the gameJust managed to redeem my code and downloading it as we speak. It's an 11GB download but I'm on 100mb fibre so hopefully shouldn't take too long . I'll give some first impressions later on, once I've had a chance to have a little play.
Oh I also have a spare PS4 code if anyone else fancies giving the beta a go.

I pre-ordered the PS4 game and duly entered the 9 digit code and checked my Bungie.net account to find I had three 12 digit codes for the Beta? Anyone know why three? I only needed one to start the download. Also although the download shows a 15 Gb file size it only download several Mbs before saying it was installed along with an update file. But when I tried to start the game it then went into a 10gb Data Transfer screen. This was painfully slow and prevented me from playing the game tonight. Anyone else get this and anyone know why three codes are given?
Does the 10Gb transfer remain on the PS4 for immediate play during the duration of the Beta period?

The 3 codes are so that you can give a couple out to your friends (should you desire) but you only need the one to play. The initial 120mb bit downloads the installer client which then downloads and installs the 10gb game. This can take a while depending on connection speed and how busy it is, mine took about 2 hours. However this only needs to install the once and then it's your for the duration of the beta.
Been playing it for about an 90 minutes now, first impressions are as follows.
Get the bad out of the way first
1) The graphics aren't mindblowing. Don't get me wrong, they certainly aren't bad just not spectacular but then this a general bug bear I have with all the current crop of next gen games, they just don't look very next gen. The last of the PS3 games are almost on par, still hopefully this will improve as they get used to the next gen hardware. At the moment though I'd give the graphics 7/10
2) Gameplay feels a bit old school at the minute. No cover mechanic which feels a bit odd in a modern shooter and the weapons selection at the moment is pretty standard fare, I am hoping they are a bit more adventurous in the final game with weapons
3) You have an annoying floating AI character ala Halo which I found annoying in that game and it isn't any better in this (you can tell this is a bungie game)
The good stuff
The game world is very immersive and the story looks like a good'un, I've only been playing it for 90 minutes but I am already drawn into this game world
The art direction is good which makes the best of the slightly lacklustre graphic fidelity
The shooting mechanics are spot on, the controls feel tight, the guns have good feel\response and the enemy AI has a the typical Bungie polish to it, i.e. they actually act quite intelligently and try to move, take cover, flank and retreat rather than just sitting their waiting for you to shoot them.
You can tell it's a Bungie game and is has all their trademarks and feels like one of theirs if that makes sense. It's certainly re-invoked some Halo nostalgia which depending on how you feel about Bungie games may mean different things but I like Bungie games
Overall rather impressed so far, it's immersive, the graphics are more than good enough, the story looks interesting and the gameplay barring the slightly old school feel is spot on. I also love the way you can be exploring and then hear shooting in the distance only to run into other players caught in a firefight who you can then form impromptu fireteams with to take on the bad guys.
As for now I can see this game is going to be HUGE....and a massive timesink when it's released and I haven't even tried the multiplayer yet!
