It will be along with the 1.07 update this month. I can't wait for the Lotus 97T when it's released can we get a full grid of Senna's in them for some PH racing?

More info here:

Edited to add:

Looking at the polyphony website it says end of May frown

To go with the first Senna Tribute slideshow unveiled today, more information about what will be contained in the late May update has also been revealed.

Of course fans will already be aware of the iconic Lotus 97T in tobacco-free Team Lotus Special livery, but it seems the content will not be limited to just the one car.

Also coming to GT6 will be Senna’s #17 DAP Racing Kart that he raced in the 1978 World Karting Championship, allowing players to recreate the early years of his racing career.

Players will also be able to access period environments, as Brands Hatch and Monza have been given makeovers to recreate their 1980s layouts – perfect for putting the black & gold Lotus to the test.

The first slideshow meanwhile contains images of Ayrton Senna’s youth, through his childhood and junior karting career and his time with Van Diemen. The second Senna Tribute slideshow – part 2 of a 4 part series – will be unlocked this time next week.

What is the obsession in Gran Turismo of karts? No one likes them.

From GTplanet:

More information on the Ayrton Senna Tribute content headed for Gran Turismo 6 was confirmed in a post on the official PlayStation Blog late yesterday, including a release date of Tuesday, May 27th.

Details of two “Senna Challenges” in the game have also been released, which will take place using the Lotus 97T on re-constructed 1985 versions of Monza and Brands Hatch.

The goal will be to beat Senna’s pole-position lap times at each circuit (1’25.084 and 1’07.169, respectively), with the car being awarded for achieving the Bronze time (it will also be available to purchase with in-game credits from a new “Senna” dealership without completing the events).

As announced yesterday, one of Senna’s first DAP racing karts will also be released in the game at that time. Stay tuned for more announcements!

Also:

Concomitant with this morning’s 2 hour maintenance period, update v1.07 for GT6 has been released and it brings some teased content we’ve been looking forward to for some weeks.

Alongside a few minor functionality tweaks to online mode, the BMW Vision GT car makes its bow to bring the Vision GT project back on track following a long hiatus since the Mercedes racing car back in January’s v1.04.

Like Mercedes’ offerings, the BMW car will be available to buy from the game’s Vision GT section but also can be won in a new Seasonal Event employing the car – regardless of the laptime achieved.

Looking like a 1970s silhouette racer based on the current 4-series, the BMW Vision GT offers up 541hp (549PS/404kW) from its three litre turbo straight six, with 598lbfft (680Nm) at only 1,900rpm. The 1,180kg (2,601lb) kerb weight, kept down by extensive carbon fibre use, is balanced 50:50 front to rear.

Weighing in at a mighty 961Mb, the update also brings some functionality changes to Open Lobby and replay modes:

Adjustments to the Open Lobby
- [Endurance Race] has been added to the [Room Mode] option within [Basic Settings] of the Event Settings screen.
- [Tire Wear/Fuel Consumption] has been added to [Time Trial Settings] options (“OFF”, “Normal”, “Fast” or “Very Fast” can be selected)
- Choice of [Start Type] has been added to the [Race Settings] for Qualifier, Time Trial, and Drift Trial modes. You can now select from [Final Corner Start] or [Pit Start].
- When [Grid Start with False Start Check] is selected in [Race Settings], signal lights will be displayed as start indicators.

New features added to “Replay” and “Watch Race” modes
- Button controls can now be used to: Switch between “Full View” and “Live Timing”; to turn the “Driver List Display” ON/OFF; to switch the “Information Display” and to change the target car.
- The “Keyboard Switching Feature” has been added. A USB keyboard can be used to switch the “Information Display” and to change the view.

Normally I'm inclined to agree when it's that annoying GT Kart Track but the Karts on proper tracks eg Silverstone & Brands as part of the championship are surprisingly good fun!!!

I;m looking forward to seeing the period tracks - do we assume not just lay out but period advertising etc to?

Is anyone else getting any sound bug issues with 1.0.6?

My R34 skyline sounds like a robot until around 5k RPM lol.

I guess it's just me that thinks BMW could have put a bit more effort into something completely original like Mercedes did??

I'd rather see them use it as a way to gauge the publics reaction to a model, something that could come out in a year or two, whilst also being able to say it was just for a game.

The i8 is more unusual looking that it though. But it looks fantastic.

So they've improved the sound then?!

Looking at the size of the latest update (nearly 1Gb!) they really are scraping the barrel of what is acceptable on their latest version of the game.

Its so dull, I rarely play on it now. The seasonals are rubbish; dull combos of car and track and the online play isn't a patch on GT5.

As for this GT Vision tosh - WTF?! There are numerous "coming soon" icons but, seriously, is anyone really interested in these concept cars?

The one saving grace of the game are the last batch of events ('S' level I think?). 24mins of Le Mans etc - hard enough to give you a challenge, short enough to actually do (unlike GT5!) and on decent tracks. They could do a lot worse than replicate these in the seasonals.

The Academy is faintly interesting, although I ran laps until I got gold with the 370Z and haven't been back. At least the final, actual qualifier event, will be reasonably fun. Maybe.

+1 I've played and loved racing games my whole life not a fan of FPS. Gotta say GT6 is the least played racing game I've ever owned, just didn't keep my attention.

One of my favourite parts in GT3 and 4 was just lappong a circuit alone, testing a whole bunch of cars one at a time. I loved just driving cars in those games and with GT4 it kept me occupied for years. In GT5 i stopped doing that. I just didn't get on with the handling as much. The online was great but they have turned that off now. GT6, the online is driving me crazy. The same car on te same circuit sometimes feels completely different from session to session, reflected in my lap times, and different to offline mode completely. Then, in the online racing, sometimes I am fast and sometimes I am slow and I have absolutely no idea why. Then I've tried driving just driving cars around empty circuits for fun a couple of times. The last time, I tried all the Ferrari GTO and F cars in cronological order but by the time I got to the F40 I just got fed up of spinning into the weeds all the time without really trying.

Then half the things on the box aren't in the game, not a aurprise because they said as much but then there's barely a peep from PD about when anything is coming, or if it even still is, so noone outside PD has a fking clue what's going on with GT6's iterations. I'm not convinced that many inside PD have a clue either, actually.

And that's it for me. They're talking about bringing GT7 in next year (but then ahain this is PD, it's more likely to arrive in 2019) and then the GT6 servers will be turned off whenever they decide to. There's no way I'm buying a PS4, GT7 and paying for a PSN subscription to take on the bug filled, incomplete and hard to enjoy risk that the GT games have become.

Ah'm oot.

Not true: I ONLY drive the karts - too much fun! Realistic too. Karting is pure driving, like that man Senna said...
