Well a 500mb update came out and as expected B-Spec and new mini and circuit. B-spec seems to like driving off the track in a straight line especially if there's a wall coming up
Good old B-Spec Bob.Shame it isn't a "Drivatar" thingy as per Forza 5 and FM2..that'd be ace
Yes, the current game is significantly better than the game on the disc.
Long gone are the days when the game on the disc is the final version, to the point where people have started to kick off about day one updates.
Games are no longer finished when it is released, they evolve and improve over time.

Just played with B-spec, Allowing you to choose when a driver accelerates is a bad idea.
I think it's quite good actually, many a time I got pissed off at b-spec Bob going for an overtake and then braking for no apparent reason, I've used b-spec Bob on the Red bull concept racer and using the real time accelerate i managed to win the championship whereas the overtake button isn't that good.Just got this game, haven't downloaded any updates as I'm using a borrowed PS3 until my XBone arrives. It's s bit disappointing really, I haven't played a GT game since GT2 and I was expecting a big step forward, but it just isn't- the cars are so arcade-y. I've done over 10% of the races already and so far they've been just too easy even with all aids switched off and my car over 100 performance points lower than the limit. What's the trick?
On the plus side it does make me glad I went for the XBox, Forza 6 should be good...

Pad indefinitely because it's a borrowed console and my XBone will be here in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure a wheel would make it much better though as the physics just seems wrong to me. Also I had a wheel with my first XBox and I was always slower with it and it just seemed too much of a faff.

A wheel is a night and day difference to a pad, not worth it if it is only temporary though.I'm umming and arring about getting a wheel for my XBox but I'm just not convinced yet. If I was going to do it at all it'd have to be the $400 Mad Katz effort, but I wouldn't be happy to have the pedals unsecured or the wheel on my lap so it'd be a slippery slope, I'd end up with some kind of stand or gaming rig. It'd become a permanent fixture in my flat / house and everyone who visits will know I'm a saddo, It'll take up room and generally clutter the place up... and all that is money which could be spent doing the thing for real.
Is there anywhere I can try this kind of stuff out to see if I actually enjoy using a decent wheel?

That's probably more like it! Is there anywhere I can try this kind of stuff out to see if I actually enjoy using a decent wheel?
I spent about £15 and made a wooden stand for my wheel / pedals.
It's not pretty but it does the job!

Have to agree I don't think it's sad an most people want a go. Most of the time they end up asking for a uber powerful car and then proceed to spin/crash every 2 hundred yards when they realise how much harder it is to correct a slide. After convincing them to start with a slower car and get a feel most then agree it's bloody brilliant fun.I spent about £15 and made a wooden stand for my wheel / pedals.

I use a Wheelstand Pro which I am in the process of modifying with a split pin so that it can be folded in half with the pedals/wheel still attached so it takes up less space. It's really adaptable and can be set up to be comfy whilst sat on a sofa/dining room chair and doesn't require a full on bucket seat set up - although it would be great!
This is ten quid on Amazon now. I have played GT5 a ridiculous amount and still love it to bits. The main letdown is the engine noises, but I can tolerate them. Love the physics, tracks, cars and happily pound round doing time trials for hours on end after the single player stuff has dried up.
I used to do quite a bit of online racing until they pulled that down.
Would you recommend GT6? I tried the demo that was on PSN a while back, driving a 370Z round silverstone, and enjoyed the sensation of tyre sidewall flex and chassis movement. The sounds didn't seem to be much improved, but YouTube videos suggest some cars are better/have new sounds, while others have the same old thrums from years gone by.
What are your favourite things about this game? What does it do better/worse than GT5?

If you enjoyed 5 you'll love 6. It's a massive improvement. Just remember all the same common GT faults apply. I used to do quite a bit of online racing until they pulled that down.

It's worth it for racing at Brands in changing light alone. The time of day effects really are (were) brilliant.
But, Project CARS makes GT look silly. If you're after true race spec cars, get that. And the weather and time effects are incredible.
