I brought the ps3 only because of gt5 and its a disappointment.
So rushing out and getting the ps4 for gt6 when available wont be happening again.
Lets not forget it was 18 months from gt5 being announced to it hitting the shops.
I have a pc for games, the wheel works with it, so grid 2 is being brought for pc.

Could not wait for GT5 to come out but time and time again it got pushed back, and the game itself was a real disappointment! Realistically there wasn't that many cars, with most of the numbers made up of special editions of the same car, there were two suzuki swift sports where the only difference was the model year, WTF!

I really hope GT6 is an improvement and comes with a huge list of premium cars, otherwise I think I might have to skip it when it first comes out and wait for it to hit bargain basement levels, something I'd never thought I'd do with the Gran Turismo series.

I shall reserve judgement till more details emerge
For me it was the audio... Forza just got the engine notes down. GT5 still sounded way too synthetic. Also the fact that there weren't that many of the properly done cars. Most, including the Veyron (at the time of release) were pretty 2-Dimensional in their build (even if they looked nice from a far).

GT5 was ste. I bought a G27 for it and it's hardly been used. Cars sounded like hair dryers, I remember buying a Z4M and waiting for the straight 6...only to hear what sounded like a Nissan Micra.

Boring, delayed and clunky. I've brought GT4 away to sea with me with my PS2 and I'm enjoying it immensely. If GT6 is anything like that, but I've lost faith in the franchise

All the cars should be premium for GT6 and there should still 600+. The Suzuki Swift is the perfect example, it's a normal everyday hatchbatch that doesn't need 2 models. You would expect that the 2nd model would be a track prepped car (assuming there is/was one for the Swift) which would have different liveries and different handling and power stats.

The sound was IMHO over done, they put too much effort in recording real noises that actually for the purpose of a game are not as good as just simply tryin to replicate the noises if that makes sense.

They also messed up big time with the championships and main series which where far too short.

showing my geek here (used to work for suzuki), there was a s2000 rally car version of the swift which was very good which iirc they are using in wrc atm but could be wrong but if they stopped putting tons of versions of the same car it would free up space for the stuff we do want, just hope PD get their act together

My fave game of all was GT Concept.

Full of cool interesting different cars, the best PS2 graphics engine, and a nice variety of tracks. It wasn't delayed or over hyped, and it was reasonably priced.

All the rest have been either a small to large let down after all the hype, delays and so on are taken into account. Even GT4 was poor in many ways.

I also find the game play a bit bland. The focus of this game is on road cars, yet most of the time you race them on circuits with sticky tyres which makes them dynamically bland as they have too much grip.

I won't be buying a PS4 or GT6 this time round. Just the loading times on GT5 are enough to make me want to turn it off and walk away. Loading, loading, loading!!! FFS! Stop ramming so many st menus in our faces!

Same, barely used my ps3. It had more use as a bluray player than a games console. We moved house nearly a year ago and I never got it back out the box since then.

100% this! I was gutted when it eventually came out!! GT6 will have to be VERY good to get me back to the series.
GT4 was the highlight of the series for me thumbup

OH, you couldn't beat GT4, I was full on obsessed with that game! It was the only game I had for a long long time after I replaced GT3 with it, in fact the only game added was eventually was Halflife Orange Box.

I've just been playing on GT5 doing the specials, the top gear track challenge, it was just getting frustrating in the end, so off it went and little big planet 2 on instead. Can't wait for my bro's company to release LBP3.

I'm hoping GT6 will be a complete, from the ground up re-build rather than just an updated GT5 as I was pretty disappointed with 5. There needs to be far more content and less insistence on "The Grind".

Yep GT4 was great, GT5 wasn't. As I said before the old games on PSN would be good.

But GT5 was a complete re-build which is why it took so long. I don't think GT6 will be a re-build, but that doesn't stop them changing some of the gameplay mechanics substantially. They always said that GT5 went beyond the capabilities of the PS3 and had to basically be scaled down to fit. GT6 should be the 'unscaled' version of GT5 but hopefully with better gameplay and much better UI.

Oh I hope they make a good intro sequence this time too. The last one sucked, waas WAY too long and was as boring as hell until you go to the actual cars racing bit.

Think I watched it once all the way through.

At least they won't have to improve the graphics now.

Every time I see a thread for GT6 I hope it doesnt' turn into a wish list thread. As such I've avoided a lot of the chatter on GTplanet.

I do hope PD learn from the mistakes of GT5 (watch what the competition is doing, and don't try to re-engineer the whole bloody game when Sony tells it wants 1080 instead of 720p. Jaggies, my God the Jaggies!)

My guess?
- Fewer cars (they won't upscale most of the GT3 era Standard models) more industry tie-ins and Special Events type gigs. More GT Academy focus.
- Fewer original tracks, more real world locations (City tracks and World Tracks). Fewer non racing elements (no Museum, no GT TV)
- More photo locations.
- More online integration, and a shift of focus back on the virtual ownership experience (better customization options and tuning).

Hopefully this thread hasn't jumped the gun a bit, would love to see GT6 being unveiled tomorrow. Anyone going to the event at Silverstone out of interest?

It will certainly have to be something special to get me back.
I was a proper PS fanboy and owned all the GT games up to 4. While waiting so long for 5 to turn up I played Forza 2 and though well that could keep me going for a bit so bought an Xbox and have not looked back since. Proper Forza convert here.
I eventually bought a copy of GT5 and borrowed the BILs PS3. I was so disappointed with it. I didnt like the feel of the cars, the noises they made, the game layout and felt it was a real cop out only having some of the cars in high res with interiors.
Might see if I can get the PS3 off the BIL for a bit and give GT5 one last chance.
